Weekend Highlights & A Fall Bucket List

Happy Tuesday friends, hope you all had a wonderful three-day weekend!  We had a productive & fun few days, with lots of time just the four of us at the house.  We don’t do that nearly enough!  I packed away all of Avalon’s newborn clothes, she still fits in a few of them but is mostly in 0-3 now, it’s always a little bittersweet but so exciting to pull the new stuff out!  I also did a complete overhaul of Waverly’s closet, packed away some things & went shopping for a few new, she definitely needed some stuff for fall since she starts school THIS WEEK!

And while we were in the attic, we found some Halloween decor. πŸ™‚  I couldn’t resist putting out just a couple touches to get us in the spirit.

We decided to make a little road trip to go apple-picking, we have never been before since there really isn’t anywhere to go near us, but love strawberry picking so much that we really wanted to make it happen.  So we made the hour & half drive (with potty and breastfeeding breaks added on!), and met my husband’s sister and her kids there.  We had so much fun, Waverly loved exploring and running endlessly through the fields, just don’t ask how many apples we brought home.  There were only about a dozen in the entire place, and those were rotten.  So really, we went apple-picking, minus the apples part. πŸ˜‰

Now that it’s officially September, I thought it would be fun to round up some other activities that we plan to get into over the next few months.  I am more excited than ever for fall for so many reasons, mainly because it is our first as a family of four!

1 – Go on a family hike.
1 – Plan and get the girls first Halloween costumes together!!  I am definitely going to dress them together, at least this year, my mom used to dress my brother & I alike (we were Pebbles and Bam-Bam, Mickey and Minnie!), so I have to pass down the tradition.
3 – Carve pumpkins & let Waverly go to town decorating her own.
4 – Make a giant leaf pile, one of my favorite memories at my grandparents house as a kid!
5 – Visit the pumpkin patch and take a hayride.
6 – Bake a pie.  I’m really, really going to try to do this, I have no patience when it comes to cooking but I know Waverly would love helping and would pay attention for at least five minutes. πŸ˜‰
7 – Make a bonfire in the backyard with s’mores.
8 – Have a family football day, with all of us watching together.  My brother & dad are superstitious and will usually only watch it on their own, hoping we can convince them, ROLL TIDE!
9 – Pick leaves & let Waverly paint them.
10 – Take a picture of Avalon’s little body in a pumpkin.
11 – Make LOTS of soups in the crock-pot, our favorite.
12 – Watch a scary movie together as a family.
13 – Date night!  We are due, is it bad that I need to include this on a bucket list?!
14 – Participate in a food drive & start teaching Waverly how to give back and help others.
15 – Go pick out a new Halloween/fall book for our collection!

So there you have it, some things I hope we can make happen in the near future, one day at a time!  What are some of your favorite fall traditions?  Happy, happy week ahead!  XO

Oh that's too bad apple picking is so far away and they didn't have any good apples! I can't wait to see how you dress your two girls for Halloween!

Such a bummer about the apples! I'm planning on taking Liam to do that in a few weeks! And our new favorite Halloween book is Only A Witch Can Fly. It's a little different but the illustrations are fun as is the message.

We went apple picking last year and it was so much fun! Despite the lack of apples (that happened to us too!), we had the best time wandering around and exploring the place. I hope to do it again this year!
I'd also love to make some soups in the crock pot so if you have any/find any good ones, you'll have to share! I LOVE soup season and all too often just let it pass by without making any. YUM!

All these fall bucket lists have me chomping at the bit to get mine posted! I think it a brilliant move to add a date night to the list because then it actually gets done πŸ˜‰ Love the family football game too!

Did I hear a Roll Tide in there? We are recent transplants to Alabama (via California then Scottsdale), and I had NO idea why I was hearing "Roll Tide" everywhere – at the grocery store, in the street, even at our house closing. For realsies. Alabama fans are legit πŸ˜‰

YES, we are BIG Alabama fans over here! My whole family! Haha, love that everyone says it!

Though the apple part of the orchard didn't pan out so much, it looks like you made the absolute best of your time there!

LOVING your fall bucket list. Ours looks pretty similar. I can't wait to coordinate Halloween costumes. It's about the best thing ever. And know that I'm only totally envious you can make leaf piles. Considering Fall doesn't really happen, neither do all the fun things that come with fall (like falling leaves, and leaf piles)!

I want to go apple picking one day. I've never done it before. One piece of advice on the baby in a pumpkin-put a towel down on the inside so it's not cold and slimy for Avalon. We learned the hard way when we tried it a few years ago but the pictures are worth it;)

I love your touches of fall already! I need to bring out my fall decor too but it's been so hot here so far that I think I need to wait just a touch longer. Here's for a better apple selection next time!

I've always wanted to go apple picking! We had apple orchards not too far from us in Utah… I should have taken advantage then because I don't know of any here in AZ! Oops! (But a bummer about no appes!!)
LOVE your Fall bucket list! I've been debating if I should make one but I think I should! At least I know I would cross of the Halloween costume one from our list πŸ˜‰ ha ha!

Roll tide! Super jealous of your apple picking! We have no such thing in Florida and all the pictures make it look like so much fun!
