We celebrated our newest eight year old with a rainbow themed brunch followed by an afternoon at the pool, it was the sweetest day for our biggest sister. Waverly typically wants to spend time at the pool on her birthday, I honestly don’t remember the last birthday she had that we didn’t + that she wasn’t wearing a bathing suit. 😉 It’s how we spend most of our summer anyways, so a day at the pool seems fitting for our very first summer birthday girl who was born right in the middle of summer EIGHT YEARS AGO!!!
We did a fun balloon rainbow garland paired with little rainbow things, even though it was just a small brunch I still like to make things special + festive. My sister-in-law came through with the sweetest cookies again (if you are local, her shop is Heart of Sugar), and I am obsessed with the cake topper Carson Ro Designs sent over for Waverly’s ice cream cake, her one request.
This was the first year EVER of Waverly’s eight years of life that she did not get nervous during the birthday song, instead she was feeling herself + loved the attention. 😉 Also three things I always want to remember from this birthday: Waverly spending half of her birthday money buying Avalon a notebook and candy, her new fake pink glasses I got her that she won’t take off, and my favorite of all, her saying first thing on her birthday eve “mom, I tell ya, time is really flying by, these birthdays keep coming.” Tell me about it, sister.
HAPPY EIGHT to the girl that made me a mama! Waverly Maye, you are so uniquely you + I love you more than you will ever know. I love watching you grow and I don’t know how I would ever live without you.
