My baby girl has her last day of school today! She was so excited to pose for her this picture, she asked me to blow-dry her hair & while I did it, she was sitting in the mirror carefully applying lip gloss. We walked outside and she went right up to the wall and smiled (you know, the typical toddler smile that looks nothing like their real smile at all!), then she must have reminded me fifty times to make sure I printed it to give all of her teachers a copy.
She is definitely my child.
Putting her in school this year was by far one of our best parenting decisions so far. She was a little shy at first & we had a few rough drop-offs, but those tears quickly turned into her running in laughing and smiling and hardly looking back to tell me & Avalon bye. She now plays “school” almost every day, she lines up her dolls and sings the songs and asks the same questions that her teacher asks her. Her four little girlfriends from class have become just everything to her, they are going to do a swimming class over the summer & we are really excited that they will also be in her same class next year, she is going to move up to three days a week!
Watching your baby grow up is so bittersweet, but seeing how incredible they are becoming really is a confirmation that you are doing something right. There is nothing about her that is easy, she is as spunky and challenging as they come, but that’s also what makes her amazing and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that she has huge things ahead. We love you so much Waverly Maye, congrats on your first year of school. We are so proud of you.
And a little throwback to her first day, she was just a little over three years old & here we are, less than two months until four!
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
