Waverly Lately

Our Waverly Maye.  Just over four months from four years old & such a little lady.  She’s fierce, opinionated, independent, and sassy.  She’s sensitive, smart, curious, sweet, helpful, and so very affectionate.  She can make you want to literally pull your hair out one minute and just eat up her cuteness the next.  She drives me crazy and I am forever crazy in love with her.
Waverly is all-girl these days, she loves to dance, do her nails, play with her babies, and go through all of my jewelry.  She likes to lay out her clothes at night and wants to choose every aspect of her outfit, including at least a couple bracelets, a necklace, a bow, and a tutu.  That she puts on all by herself. She requests Anna hair most mornings & will have an epic meltdown if it looks like Elsa instead.  Her favorite color is purple, her favorite number is 8, and she is turning five on her birthday (something she reminds me of every single day).  She absolutely adores school and her best friends there, even mentioning them can put the biggest smile on her face.  She likes to watch Daniel Tiger & Peppa Pig and then reenact them on her own.  She has the biggest imagination ever, listening to her play when she gets into one of her creative moods is one of my very favorite things to do.
Her favorite foods are bagels, soup, and mac & cheese, and she has the biggest sweet tooth ever.  She likes to go to Target and pick out all the things and then tries to convince us of why she deserves them.  She turns the sweetness WAY up at night when she knows she should be sleeping and always comes back for “just one more thing”.
She gets frustrated or mad easily, especially when it comes to something she can’t figure out on her own.  She loves to be the one in charge and doesn’t deal well when she isn’t.  She adooooooooores being a big sister and loves Avalon more than anyone, but will melt into a puddle if we tell her to give her space.  Her love language is touch all.day.long.  A good & a bad thing.
She runs into our room with a kiss & hug every morning and asks for a story every night.  She wants so badly to be big but at the same time, still likes to be little.
She’s as high-maintenance as they come and there’s not one thing I would change about her, even in the most challenging moments, I am forever grateful I get to be her mama.  Waverly Maye, I just know your future is as bright as your beautiful blue eyes and I can’t wait to be there every step of the way, baby girl.  Love you to the moon.

It always amazes me how similar Waverly and Liam sound. What an adorable girl! Nearly four year olds…. What will we do?!

What a beautiful post to your beautiful girl!!! She sounds so much like Cameron (minus the Anna/Elsa hair, although he would request that, if his hair was long enough!), and I cannot believe that FOUR has almost entered our lives. FOUR? That seems so old!! They are little people now….not babies! I have loved, loved, loved watching her grow and love when you write about her. I can just imagine so many of these things! xo

Such a girly girl! I love it! Is there a story behind the number 8?

  7. March 2, 2016 / 7:13 pm

Sweet girl! Arden can be the Elsa to her Anna. Lately she's been asking to grow her hair out so she can have "one long white braid". Oh boy. Love these high maintenance girls!

Abigail's favorite color is purple too! And the number 8?? lol, where did she come up with that?

Anyway, she's adorable. Definitely entering into SUCH a fun stage. For sure!

Waverly Lately

It’s been way too long since I have done a Waverly update, so much has changed lately with my big girl & I really feel like she has matured so much in just the last few months alone.  Obviously bringing Avalon home has had something to do with it, Waverly just feels (and looks) older now compared to her, but even just one on one she seems so much more grown.   I think a lot of it is that I have given her a lot more independence now, partly because I don’t always have the choice with another baby to take care of, but even more so because I noticed that she was thriving on a little more freedom.  She really is no longer a baby – though I will always call her that! – but such a little girl now, with her own (vibrant!) personality & a mind all of her own.

Without a doubt, my favorite part about Waverly right now is her imagination.  It blows my mind on a daily basis and I know I have never had a kid before so I have nothing to compare it to, but wow, she has a BIG one.  I’ve posted before about her “friends” (because they are a big part of our lives!), her current besties are Keely & Guys and we talk about them all day long.  They come with us everywhere, she tells us when they are upset or happy, when they have to leave for work (& where they work), and they have specific houses in our neighborhood.  Crazy!  I even walked out onto the porch the other week and she was literally laying on the ground with a float under her, she looked up and told me that her & Keely were swimming at the waterpark. 🙂

Some of her current favorites activities are doing crafts, singing and dancing, taking baths with lots of bubbles, playing tea party, dress-up or doing nails, playing blocks & “cooking” us dinner from either her kitchen or new BBQ grill outside.  She really can entertain herself for a while now, and wants to, we are definitely at that age where she will tell us to go away for a while or to “get out of her room!”.  So funny.  Like most girls her age, her absolute favorite toys are her dolls, she loves them all so much & talks to them in the most high-pitched, sweetest little voice.  They all have names and she picks one to come with us anytime we leave the house.

Obviously the biggest milestone lately is Waverly’s new status as a big sister, & she is a natural.  There is no one she loves more than Avalon & she spends so much of her day just talking to her little sister and making sure she is ok.  She hates when Avalon is sleeping (not always the best thing), and begs me to “wake my sister up” throughout the day.  We had recently noticed that Waverly was having a harder time going to her sitter or even out with my husband, and turns out that it was because she did not want to be away from Avalon.  She loves her so much, Waverly just has that caring part of her personality that goes perfectly with being the oldest child.

I have to mention it, because it’s reality, not all aspects of this age are seamless or a dream.  Parts of these last few months have been the most challenging we have had yet, Waverly is opinionated, fierce, and as sassy as she has ever been.  She wants to do everything on her own now & gets so upset when she can’t, and has a really hard time handling her emotions.  It can be really frustrating, for everyone, but just like everything else, we will work through it and laugh about it all one day.  Though I assure you, my husband was not laughing when he texted me to tell me that he would be leaving Waverly at the grocery store last week (& I really think he was serious, thankfully, they both came home!).

It’s hard to keep this post from being 100 pages long, because I really could go on (& on!) about how much I love this little girl, and how much joy she brings to our lives.  She starts preschool next week, and as much as its hard to let her go, I know she is going to rock it and I am so excited for this new stage.
We love you to the moon, Waverly Maye, don’t you ever forget it!
XO

Oh my word, Waverly is not a baby anymore [although she always will be to you]. She looks so grownup and her personality shines through in your pictures. How sweet she's so attached to Avalon and I think it's adorable she has invisible friends. Imagination at her age is incredible, right?

Sending you a hug for those sassy moments :)!

I am not looking forward to just how big Mia is going to be once brother arrives, ah! But she will always be my baby 😉 I'm totally obsessing over Mia's imagination as well. It is SO FUN to see them playing in their own world!! I wish (as always) that we could have play dates!

Ah, she's so darn cute!!! I love how independent these "babies" have become since being promoted to big sister/brother! It amazes me! They are little people now with HUGE personalities!! I have loved watching her and grow, and seeing her as a big sister is amazing!! xo

OH my gosh she's getting so big, preschool?! That will be nice for you to have some alone time with A, but so hard to let your first go to school. I fear that I have the same personality on my hands too, if you have any tips as she gets older let me know, I'm scared for her older years…haha.

Your blog posts are always my favorite! I just love reading about your sweet family!

So much personality in her! Liam hates being without Finn too, and it just melts my heart!

We are experiencing so many of the same things. Right down to thinking I was going to leave Marcus at the grocery store (good times). Three is so fun and so challenging. Let's throw in so exhausting, for good measure.

It's really amazing how someone's personality can be captured in a photo. I love the one of her looking so sweet and then in the next you can totally see her sass! You've captured all of her perfectly!
I love that she loves her little sister so much too. She is the sweetest!

  9. September 3, 2015 / 12:46 am

she is so sweet! love reading these updates 🙂

I love this! She is such a little cutie! I love that she has "friends" and that she can play independently! I cannot wait for Mac to get to that stage. And I love that she loves her baby sister – there's not a ton of that going on at our house either. 🙂 Urgh.

Ha ha! I love a toddler with a little sass! Cam can be so sassy sometimes and his imagination is huge too. They could be good friends. I love Waverly's "friends" and all the adventures they go on together. So cool!! Cam doesn't mind when Emmy names but isn't good at being a little quiet so she gets a good one. Whomp whomp! 🙂 beautiful toddler! 🙂
