Even though I am on maternity leave and therefore each & every day currently has the same agenda for me (and I am certainly not complaining … ), the weekends are still welcome as my husband is able to stay home and spend some quality time with Waverly and me. Obviously, spending time as a family of three is certainly different from when the two of us were spending our weekends riding bikes to the oceanfront with our friends. But, we wouldn’t have it any other way – this new lifestyle comes at a perfect time and we truly wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am completely aware that my daughter will not remember any of the good-natured “family fun” outings that we have attended or will before her first birthday. However, that doesn’t mean that they are not worthwhile and that we won’t tell her all about them one day (or show or the millions of pictures I took during them!). So this past weekend, for the first time in our relationship of over ten years, my husband and I (along with our Waverly Maye) went to the zoo. After being fed and changed as soon as we got there, Waverly was alert as ever and her bright blue eyes were wide open throughout our entire journey at the zoo. She especially liked the giraffes & zebras (since she does love to wear animal print). 🙂
