Party Planning

Now that Waverly Maye is 9 months & her ONE YEAR birthday is less than 3 months away, we are in total, full-fledged planning mode.  If I’m honest, her first birthday party has been a thought for a while now.  Like, maybe before she was born.
And if I’m really honest, I might have even purchased an outfit for me to wear, that matches the theme.  Although I can’t believe I am admitting that.
We love to plan and create events that are completely coordinated & create an atmosphere. Thanks to Pinterest, it’s pretty easy to do that these days.  I’m really amazed everytime I am able to type in a word and get millions of ideas in seconds.  At the same time, I can get really overwhelmed by it all (and convince myself that I really do need to organize my laundry detergent in clear bottles with labels on them.  ASAP.) So needless to say, determining the perfect theme for Waverly Maye’s first birthday celebration wasn’t completely effortless.
After realizing that having a week of different themed parties each day was out of the question, we decided on a You Are My Sunshine theme.  It made sense for many reasons.  (1) Waverly’s birthday is in July, (2) You Are My Sunshine was my husband’s favorite book & song when he was younger, (3) I tell Waverly that she is my sunshine every night when I lay her down to sleep, and (4) Waverly Maye is our sunshine.  Oh, and she does look pretty cute in the color yellow.

Since establishing the theme, I have obviously been pinning ideas left & right.
ο»ΏAnd now, it’s time to put these ideas into action.  I will offiically be a DIY diva for the next few months.  This celebration has to be perfect for my little sunshine.

Happy MAY!  Let’s hope for some sunshine this month! πŸ™‚

LOVE the theme, and I love this whole post and everything you admitted. I TOTALLY did the same for Ethan's 1st birthday party — it was totally planned while he was still in utero. His 2nd birthday party is next month and, yeah, I've already planned out every last detail. Oops!

That's seriously such a sweet theme, I just love it! I can't wait to see party pictures!
