Our Weekend

We are still slowly recovering from the weekend over here, it was jam-packed & a little exhausting, but so much fun!  We kicked it off Friday with a trip to the waterpark, it has been so insanely hot here that being near water seems like the only option.  Like usual, Waverly had a blast & burned off a ton of energy (going down the slides head first), while Avalon mostly slept in the solly, fitting in an awake time just long enough to dip her little toes in the water.
For the record, my mom meets us on most of our waterpark days now that I am outnumbered.  I’m thinking that by next summer I will be able to handle both girls on my own there, yet I’m sure I’ll be eating my words once they are running in two different directions away from me. 😉

Saturday, we took a big family trip to the amusement park!  It was my parents anniversary, plus my husband & I had been wanting to take Waverly to the Sesame Street attraction that they have there as part of her birthday gift, so we had been planning this trip for a while.  Honestly though, I got a little nervous the night before, the forecast called for major heat, plus I wasn’t sure how baby-friendly walking around a park all day would be.  Yet we ultimately decided to go, packed our car full, & took the hour trip early Saturday morning.

I am so, so glad we ended up going, the girls shocked me with how well they did & Waverly was in pure heaven the entire day.  She loved the Sesame Street attraction like we thought she would, but also loved all the other kid rides just as much & did not turn one down!  It was so much fun watching her discover something new, she seriously could not contain her excitement.  Avalon did great too, we took breaks in between rides to get her out of the heat and so that I could feed her.  Plus, my husband & I even got a chance to ride a roller coaster together while my parents watched the girls, overall, such a fun, memorable day!

And lastly, our night.  We had planned on leaving early to get the girls to bed at a normal time, but ended up staying later so that we could see the fireworks show (which Waverly was actually excited about, after hating them on the fourth a few weeks ago).  While we were waiting, my husband went on a roller coaster with my brother while me & the girls stayed down to watch.  Waverly was so cute, every single time another car came down she was convinced it was her daddy, yelling (screaming!), “hi daddy, I’m down here, come & get me!” each time.  Afterwards, she told us “her guys” were up there (they come everywhere with us) & started yelling to them.  It was so incredibly cute, a moment I will remember forever for sure.
Also, she loved the fireworks this time. 🙂
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
XO

Sounds and LOOKS like a fabulous trip, so glad you decided to go and it went well. I loved amusement parks growing up, they have some amazing family memories tied to them.

What a fun weekend with your sweet family! Loving Avalon in her little mint bathing suit and white sun hat – Vivian has the exact same suit and hat, and I just love it! Waverly's face in the amusement park pictures is just priceless. She obviously had a great time:) Can't believe how big and brave she is now! Time goes so fast! Squeeze that precious Avalon!:)

  3. August 4, 2015 / 12:00 pm

Water park and amusement park.. What a fun weekend! Glad to hear it went well with both kids. We are at the stage where these activities go smoothly, but I can't imagine doing it with a newborn in tow!

  4. August 4, 2015 / 1:23 pm

So cute 🙂 I actually think it might be easier now, witch Avalon being so little you don't have to worry about her running away! But I only have one right now so I really shouldn't talk! Also, have you ever heard of Beach Front Baby Wraps? They're mesh, so perfect for water! I immediately thought of them when I saw you in the water with your wrap! http://beachfrontbabywraps.com/ xo Chelsea play. wash. rinse. repeat.

Thank you for this! I actually have seen so many people wearing them at the waterpark was wondering where they were from. I will definitely look into – thank you!

  5. August 4, 2015 / 1:54 pm

Beautiful pictures from the weekend! We have yet to take Liam to an amusement park, so we may need to do that soon! Waverly looks so happy there!

  6. August 4, 2015 / 2:09 pm

What a fabulous and fun weekend!
Love seeing the picture of the four of you. Such a beautiful family!

  7. August 4, 2015 / 4:30 pm

What a wonderful weekend! All the pictures are gorgeous! Im kicking myself for not buying that flamingo suit when I had the chance. Also, I love the new blog header 🙂

  8. August 4, 2015 / 5:26 pm

Looks like you guys had a great weekend with tons of great photos 🙂 I am scared to brave the pool/waterpark when I have a second kid!! Haha! Loving your new blog look, and the name! XO

  9. August 4, 2015 / 5:59 pm

    Love the new site design!
I want to give you encouragement — when I had my second, I took my toddler and newborn to the park and was breastfeeding my baby while keeping my toddler from falling off a slide and I swore I'd never to to a park alone again 🙂
Promise it'll be easier when Avalon isn't so high need. One day you'll be at the water park with both girls and it'll be so fun and easy you'll think, "I think I could do this with three!"

  10. August 4, 2015 / 6:38 pm

Aw so cute, you look great with two kids…and you changed your blog name…how did I miss that…oops! Sorry, it's been a long couple of weeks, haha 🙂 Love seeing kids explore new things. Taking my kids to Legoland tomorrow, so excited!

LOVE the new name!! and you're so lucky to have family near. I steer clear from places like that unless the husband is home. You look amazing, mama!

  12. August 4, 2015 / 7:06 pm

What a fun weekend! Can't believe how big Avalon is looking and what a little lady Waverly is turning into. I barely feel ready to handle my two alone at the grocery store, so I totally understand wanting backup at the water park. The more pairs of adult hands, the better!

  13. August 4, 2015 / 7:29 pm

Sounds like such a great weekend and Waverly looks like she had an amazing time! Children are funny things one minute they like something then they don't then they do, constantly changing their minds ha.

  14. August 5, 2015 / 12:26 pm

So fun!!!! I love that one piece you have on! Where is it from? I just got my first one piece for our trip to Cancun and am surprised how much I love it! I guess growing up as a swimmer and having to wear one pieces I grew to not like them, but now if 6 incisions on my tummy I need to protect them some days from the sun so I have been looking for a couple of one pieces and high waisted bottoms as options!

  15. August 5, 2015 / 12:29 pm

Ummmm I just noticed the blog name change….. I LOVE IT!!!! EEEEEK!! xoxo

  16. August 6, 2015 / 9:28 pm

So many wonderful pictures from such a fun weekend! We love our localish amusement park, so it will be really fun to take both girls sometime. Maybe this fall!

Love the blog redesign and name! I've considered the same since mine is about kid number one too. But we'll see 🙂

  17. August 7, 2015 / 5:15 pm

Oh I recognize Busch gardens! So many wonderful memories of the rides in "Italy" when I was a child too. I don't live near Virginia anymore (SC!) but I still can't wait to take my baby one day 😊 thanks for sharing! Sweethughes.blogspot.com

Our Weekend

I thought I would document our first weekend in 2015, I think I am still in denial that it’s back to reality around here so I am holding on to that two-week break for as long as I can. 😉
As part of our fresh start to the new year, the one in which we give ourselves some grace, my husband decided to take a day of his own on Saturday before my spa day on Sunday.  While I crave family time, especially on the weekends, I thought it would be good for all of us.  So he went hunting, probably trying to get as much manly time in as possible before it’s three girls in the house, while Waverly & I had a day all of our own.
We had a mall date in the morning, then went to the grocery store for some soup I was going to make for dinner.  Waverly is so talkative these days & always cracking us up, I have so many favorite comments from her but this one goes down as one of my favorites.  The sweetest older man was bagging up our groceries, he had a long white beard & glasses, she looked up at him & immediately yelled, “Mommy, it’s SANTA!!”.  I could have died, a little because I was nervous about how he (or the rest of the store) would react, but everyone just laughed.  Mostly, I was so proud of her for actually liking him after all their less than happy encounters over the holiday season. 😉

We also spent some time jumping on Waverly’s new trampoline!!  My parents got her it (similar here) for Christmas, she is obsessed & I know it is going to get lots of love in our future.  She begs me to go out there even when it is freezing, I can’t wait until the spring when we can really spend some time on it!

Sunday was my spa day, I had really gotten used to the idea of it, so it was a total letdown when I walked in & found out they had to reschedule because of sicknesses.  All is well that ends well, I have an appointment for next Sunday & Plan B was a trip to the zoo with Waverly & the hubs!  We had some random warm weather, it was absolutely perfect.

Hunter Boots

I’m not going to lie, heading back to work Monday morning was a little more than painful.  A few tears were shed rocking Waverly to sleep Sunday night, they probably had something to do with these pregnancy hormones, but I really hate leaving her after so much fun together.  Yet as always, it’s way easier after you actually do it, & I am already looking forward to next weekend!
Hope you all had a great start to the week! XO

What a fun weekend, despite the hiccup in your plans! Monday was so, so hard….I got the hugest hug from Cam when I picked him up after school!! However, I am so happy to be back to a routine and to have him in a routine! PS. Cam calls everyone with a white beard Santa, or he says, "What is that?" because he doesn't know the difference between what and who…it can be a little embarrassing!!

  2. January 6, 2015 / 2:30 pm

That trampoline looks like every toddlers dream AND MORE! I love it! And although spa day was a bust the zoo looks like it was a BLAST!

I swear it's pregnancy. I almost shed tears taking lex back to school and she's there for like 3 hours! It's these girls man!

  3. January 6, 2015 / 2:38 pm

Considering the random warm January weather the zoo was probably more fun! Especially since you still get to have your spa day, just one week later :). Yeah I would imagine it's hard to go back to work after having a longer break. I always dreaded going back without kids, so I can't imagine how much worse it is!

  4. January 6, 2015 / 2:56 pm

Love that pic of your shirt tied up to show off the bump! The zoo is one of our favorite places… We go almost weekly! Jealous of your Spa day next weekend!

  5. January 6, 2015 / 3:50 pm

Oh my goodness, Waverly is so stinking cute!!!!!!

  6. January 6, 2015 / 6:30 pm

Love the trampoline pics! She is just a doll! I'm sure going back to work after your break was not fun! I had a long weekend and it was tough for me yesterday too, first full week of work in a month, boo! Lol!

  7. January 6, 2015 / 6:41 pm

The trampoline looks like so much fun!!! I will be in your position next week monday when my little and I go back to school 🙁 I loved having this break with him and don't want it to end! On the plus side you have something to look forward to at the end of the week!

    • January 7, 2015 / 1:33 pm

Oh gosh, BEST of luck to you!! Hope you get to enjoy every minute this week! XO

  8. January 6, 2015 / 6:47 pm

What a wonderful weekend!! I'm glad they were able to reschedule it but bummer on not getting to go when you had planned!

  9. January 6, 2015 / 8:48 pm

You always dress her in the cutest stuff! Sad that you got cancelled on, but great that you got great weather and the zoo! Yes Monday was definitely a hard one! So is today…and the rest of the week. Hopefully next week will be better?

  10. January 7, 2015 / 12:06 am

Oh you know Monday was hard for me! 😉 How lucky your husband is going to be surrounded by so many beauties!! When baby #2 comes along I am secretly hoping it's another girl I would be so sad to not use all of Presley's adorable clothing again!

  11. January 7, 2015 / 2:29 pm

Looks like she's having a blast on the trampoline! Sounds like you had a great weekend despite the spa day rescheduling. I'm sure it was hard leaving after being at home for so long! I am already dreading going back to work after baby gets here!

  12. January 7, 2015 / 4:12 pm

She is so stinkin' cute! Glad the weekend was great ladies (and husband! haha) xoxo

  13. January 7, 2015 / 11:37 pm

Your chambray crop top is so cute! As a fellow preggo mama myself, I wonder where is it from? You and your family are darling!

    • January 8, 2015 / 1:18 pm

Thank you SO much!!! The shirt is from Nordstrom, a couple seasons ago, but I also have seen chambray shirts at H&M recently! XO

  14. January 8, 2015 / 2:51 pm

Oh Waverly…. so cute! Mia doesn't point out "Santa" when we see a look alike at the store…. but EVERY old man has now become a "grandpa"… not her grandpa's, but they are ALL named grandpa. Ha ha!
So sad you had to reschedule your spa day! But this weekend will be amazing with it 😉

  15. January 9, 2015 / 5:29 pm

OMG Waverly is a doll. I love that red hair and the name Waverly is beautiful!

  16. January 11, 2015 / 12:12 am

Umm, you are just the CUTEST pregnant mama ever! I didn't follow when you were pregnant with Waverly (not sure if you even blogged then??) but I'm LOVING your maternity style! You look so cute in that tied up chambray shirt!

Our Weekend

I hope that you ladies had the sweetest Mother’s Day weekend, that you got some time with those you love & of course, that you were able to relax, too!!  We have known for a while now that we would spend ours out of town for my little sister’s college graduation, it was something I was really excited for & slightly afraid of all at the same time.  The car ride there is about five hours, which is about five hours more than Waverly enjoys being in the car seat. 😉  Seriously, she does not like to be strapped down at all ever, I even get anxiety on the 20-minute drive home from my mom’s house during the week.

So I was fully prepared for a disaster of a road-trip, but did my best to pack & plan to make all our lives a little bit easier.  We aimed to leave at nap time & spent the couple hours before outside getting some energy out.

We thought we were golden when Waverly fell asleep as we were pulling on to the interstate, yet matters took a turn for the worse when she opened her eyes about 30 minutes later & said “all-done”.  Long story short, she never went back to sleep & we resorted to every move imaginable for the (five hour turned into seven hour due to traffic) drive to see my sister.  We played games, sang songs, called each other’s cell phones to talk on speaker, & finally, I held my head out the window to let my hair fly about twenty times in a row because she thought it was hilarious.  The good news was we made it alive & I think Waverly has a short enough memory that she has forgiven us for making her go through that.  (If only the rest of us could forget, too.)

The next morning was graduation, Waverly wore yellow in honor of the colors of the school & also because it is currently one of my favorite colors to see her in!  I am loving seeing this bright shade everywhere lately, there really isn’t a better color for spring.

I love my big, crazy family so much & love how much Waverly does, too.  We ended up all (six of us) sharing one hotel room for the weekend because they had hiked the prices up so much for graduation.  We were sharing beds, sleeping on chairs, & climbing over each other to figure out a way to get ready.  Not the most ideal situation for sure, but Waverly thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever.  Now that we are home & Waverly is back to sleeping in her own room by herself, she has a lot less people to entertain or applaud her & is definitely less than impressed.  She really did have the best time, the craziness was well worth it & may even have convinced me to travel more often. :)

Thanks to everyone who entered the Freshly Picked Moccasin Giveaway last week.  Entries will be accepted until 12pm tonight & the winner will be announced on Wednesday’s #littlethingslinkup post.  Good luck to you all!
XOXO

    Waverly's outfit is just adorable!

Rae HATES her car ride also. When we moved from NC to Oregon I thought we were all going to loose it because it was 5 twelve hour days.. thankfully it was much better than I thought. Waverly is the most fashionable little babe ever! So sweet!

    • May 13, 2014 / 12:05 pm

Gosh, I can't even imagine! That one car ride did me in for a few months! 😉

  24. May 13, 2014 / 12:51 pm

Are you kidding me?!! Waverly is the cutest thing ever all dressed up for Graduation!! I hear ya about the car rides we do it every couple of months to visit family and it is a doozy!!! Love the idea of letting your hair blow out the window! Ha too fun!! Coolest mom ever!

  25. May 13, 2014 / 1:54 pm

Oh no! Poor Waverly. And mommy and daddy. I wish you had posted about this earlier and I could have given some advice. We've taken Mason on a couple long car rides…one to Arizona, one to New Mexico, and one to Northern California. Ranged between 5-7 hours each. To be honest, this probably isn't the best parent advice ever, but I recommend lots of snacks and the iPad. I wouldn't normally want my kid to watch so much Mickey (or me to watch so much Mickey lol) but when it comes to a peaceful car ride, all rules are out the window! Hope you had the best Mother's Day! xo

  26. May 13, 2014 / 4:49 pm

Ohhhhhhhhh long car rides… ugh! haha! Glad you made it with all your hair still in tact! 😉 And a very Happy Mother's Day and congrats to your sister!!!!

  27. May 13, 2014 / 7:20 pm

    OMG! Her headband! Precious!! 🙂

  28. May 14, 2014 / 2:12 am

She is just a beauty and so darling in yellow! Yikes, I totally feel you on road trips. We have to do a 6-7 hour one quite regularly. Let me tell you, even though you might judge us – our lives changed in the car after K got an iPad for Xmas! I mean, girl does NOT sleep in the car much and hates being strapped down. Now we have Baby Einstein, Yo Gabba Gabba, and a couple of her favorite movies (usually, Rio) – and she is content and happy to sit there for awhile before we need a break. Not everyone's okay with that, but it's been our lifesaver on road trips now.

    xx Viv at JoieDeViv

    • May 14, 2014 / 12:28 pm

Thanks love!!! I am totally not above IPADS at all, you gotta do what you gotta do! 😉

  29. May 14, 2014 / 3:51 am

Oh momma, I am sooo sorry! We vacation to AZ in March and it's a good 6-7 hour drive. We aimed for leaving at nap time but I guess that ship sailed long before we got in the jeep, because girlfriend didn't sleep. She just screamed and whined for 3 hours straight. It was so super fun… NOT! Luckily the drive home was a whole different ball game, and a couple weeks later we had to turn around and drive another 6-7 hours to CO for my Grandma's funeral and Mia was an angel both ways! Shortly after that we did a couple 3-4 hour drives across the state and those were easy peasy compared to the other drives! For Mia, the more we did it, the more she got used to the idea of being entertained differently AND sleeping in the car.
Oh, and did I mention that she was still in the infant seat for those? Poor girl! Facing backwards for all of that! I'm excited (and terrified) to see how she will like our next road trip facing forward! And we are so ready to invest in having screens set in the back of our headrest so that maybe, just MAYBE a dvd will take her mind off of traveling?

  30. May 16, 2014 / 2:34 pm

haha, when my son was about waverly maye's age we took a three-hour drive and he started SCREAMING about 20 minutes in. i ended up turning around and holding his hand the whole way, which was super uncomfortable for me because he was still rear-facing. but we also had a newborn, so we didn't want him to disturb her. it was terrible.
he's gotten much better in the car — there is light at the end of the tunnel!

  31. May 20, 2014 / 6:33 pm

your blog is so great! you've got such a lovely little family and you really are super pretty! xo j. von Stereo|typically Me

  32. May 23, 2014 / 12:25 pm

If they day ever comes that I am blessed with a baby girl, I hope her closet reflects Waverly's, seriously always so precious!
