Our Weekend & Monday Must-Haves

First, thank you for your sweet & encouraging comments on our transition back to the new school year.  As a teacher, I feel I get the unique perspective of being both a SAHM & working one.  At the end of the day, they both have their challenges & rewards, we are all moms who are doing the best we can for our little ones.  I hate when I hear people debate the issue & LOVE that in this community, we all support each other in whatever situation we are in. ðŸ™‚

And HAPPY halfway through September!  We spent lots of our weekend working on projects around the house, the next few weeks are jam-packed & as usual, our house to-do list is full.  Over the summer I started a “cleaning” schedule that I loved, doing one task a day, Monday-Thursday, knocking it all out before the weekend started.  That obviously doesn’t fly now, the last two weeks I have spent my Friday night on my hands & knees cleaning after Waverly went to bed.  I hate the idea of spending our Saturdays or Sundays doing it, so to me, that’s the better option.  For what it’s worth, to make it exciting, I popped a bottle of wine & drank a glass (or two) while I did it to celebrate the end of the work week.  It was actually exciting.  I’m telling ya, we get wild.
Any working mamas found a magical way to fit in cleaning?!

My husband has been busy getting our backyard live-able again, making some progress in Waverly’s room, & refinishing a passed-down table for our family room.  He also recently did this makeover on a second high chair for Waverly, my mother-in-law got it unfinished for Waverly’s second birthday so we could DIY it & make it our own.  I love how it turned out (such an easy update!), the original high chair can be found here.

Pajamas
The other high chair we have is the Boon, which we absolutely adore & have been using since Waverly was six months.  We still use it & plan to, but lately Waverly has been taking two bites of her meal before asking to get up because she is “all done!”.  She would rather run circles around the house while eating or attempting to sit on top of the table while grabbing food from our plates.  Our pediatrician confirmed what we already knew, that we were instilling really bad habits.  So we decided to give her a new, (hopefully) exciting alternative with this chair, which still keeps her in a seat but without a buckle.  So far she really likes it, we typically pull it up to our table for meals or she just sits in it for snacks.  I’ll let you know what our third bright idea will be in a few weeks when this one gets old, too. 😉

Other weekend news, we spent our Gap cash, I got this buffalo plaid shirt which is so perfect for fall & the holiday season which will be here before we know it! 🙂  I ordered Waverly a festive Halloween headband & am seriously dreaming of pumpkin patch visits in a short couple of weeks.  We also pulled out Waverly’s first boots for the season & have started eating our snacks (plus drinking our coffee!) from these floral coffee cups I  recently found at TJMaxx.
Because every one needs a pretty, disposable coffee cup.  Obviously.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
XO

Those legs in those boots…my goodness!!! LOVE the chair…Cam has been boycotting his high chair and has been sitting at the island with us on a regular bar stool. He looks ten. Kills me! I can't wait to see her room!

(PS Does she love those pajamas? Cam loves to "light em up" before we put them on so they'll glow! I was afraid he'd be scared, but they are the perfect amount of light!)

    Have a great week, friend!!

Whoa, I seriously can't believe we are already halfway through September! Time is flying!
You guys always have so many projects going! I know it keeps you crazy busy, but we can't wait to buy a home and have our own projects!

Too much, too much, too much cuteness! I couldn't agree with you more regarding the roles of a SAHM and working mom. We are all doing what is best for us, our babies, and our families. And if that means staying home or working then so be it, right! I hate when people say to me "oh must be nice"… I say, you know what, it is nice. I love that I am in the situation where I am and CAN stay at home, but I look up to all you working momma's because in all honestly I would be STRESSED to the max if I had to work and then come home and do everything I do right now. And in my situation, because of my illness, it would end up making me extremely sicker and would not be good for my health. But anywho… on a lighter note… haha… I can't wait to get Charli and Crew Halloween jammies, and don't worry, I have 100% been planning our pumpkin patch visit and pumpkin patch pictures for a month now!! Too much?! haha!! Happy Monday friend!

Ha, sounds like we are instilling some bad meal time habits over here too. A few bites at the table and then Ez wants to run around and play, stopping by for bites of food now and then. I was just kinda hoping one day he'd notice that mommy and daddy sit down for their whole meal and decide to try it out… It doesn't work that way? Sigh… 😉

Love what you did with the highchair, so simple & perfect! There is never time for cleaning in this house either! We pick up in the evenings, but I will say that we have a cleaning lady come every other week to do the deep cleaning and it has been a huge help! High recommend it!

we just picked up those jammies for Palmer on Saturday! They are the cutest!!! Waverly rocks hers!!!

We love our Boon high chair as well – it really worked from beginning until not too long ago when we transitioned him to a booster at the table because in his words "I'm not a baby anymore, mama."

I think your idea of tackling cleaning before the weekend is a great one – your summer way of doing it was genius…I'm afraid I don't have much by way of tips because I have a cleaner, but like you the reason we did this is because I didn't want to spend my little precious time not working having to clean, especially since I was only getting one day off a week for a very long time. We were fortunate to find someone who is very reasonable and who we have trusted for the past 7 years which has been great for our family.

I hope you are able to figure something out that works for you guys!

I've been thinking about those jams for a while…

I know what you mean about cleaning. Last year we were so fortunate to have a nanny come to our house that was willing to help with some light cleaning, dish washing, and laundry!! That's my tip. But now that I am a SAHM I tackle them during nap time!!

Oh my word those cups are adorable! And so glad you are finding something to keep W at the table – at least for now!!

She is precious! Love your picks!

Trying to get Mason to sit still and eat is a constant battle at our house too. I have to explain to him that it is dinner time and that he needs to make good choices. But that doesn't always (or most of the time) work. It's so hard to get the little busy bodies to sit still for more than 5 seconds!
