Today marks exactly one week since Avalon Elle joined our little family, I thought it would be the perfect time to stop in & update on our time since we got home from the hospital! I feel so grateful to have this little space to look back on these memories one day, & also, wanted to thank you all again for your overwhelming support & love! It is so very appreciated. ๐
In just seven short days, Avalon has stolen all of our hearts & already, I can’t imagine our family without her in it. She is the sweetest little lady, she loves to be held, to sit in the rock & play, and of course, to sleep. So far, her demeanor is incredibly laid-back, hardly anything bothers her & she rarely cries, even when her big sister smothers her with a million kisses or “pets her” on the top of her little head. We already see a difference in the girls personalities, though we can’t decide if it’s because we are much more confident as parents & Avalon picks up on it, where as with Waverly we were probably a hot mess. ๐

My husband is super busy at work so he was back the day after we got home from the hospital, which scared the hell out of me since he didn’t go back for a week after we had Waverly, but it’s actually been nice to figure things out all on my own. In general, I feel so less stressed with a newborn than I did as a first time mom, I’m sure that has everything to do with knowing what to expect & not freaking out over every little cry or move she makes. My recovery is still going really well, we have had a few issues with breastfeeding (engorgement like wow), but overall, I am really feeling great! I’m sure it helps that Avalon is a great sleeper, I have to wake her at night to feed her but in general, we are getting good stretches of sleep (at least for now!) which we are so, so thankful for. ๐

And my big girl. I really can’t put into words how proud of Waverly I am, she is so in love with Avalon & has adjusted to this huge change in the best way possible.

Of course we have had our moments, but in general, she has showed no signs of jealousy at all, doesn’t mind me breastfeeding (something I was really nervous about), & overall, is just ecstatic to have her baby sister officially here. We are incredibly lucky to have so much family close by, they have been great about making her feel special too & taking her on little outings since she is so used to being on the go. Watching her with Avalon makes me so happy, I walked into her room the other morning to get her while holding the baby & she said “Oh yay, she is still here!”.

I hope you all are having the best weekend!
XO
PS – Thank you for your compliments on Avalon’s name. ๐ There is no real story behind it, other than that we heard the name before I was even pregnant & both loved it! We thought it sounded great with Waverly and also loved the fact that both Waverly & Avalon are places (Waverly, VA and Avalon Pier). I admit it, I also loved that both girls names have a “v” in them. Elle is a tribute to Avalon’s grandmothers, both my mom & mother-in-law start with “l” so we thought it would be perfect! And YES, I do plan to change my blog name in the near future, though I have no idea to what! I am trying to stay clear of the girls names so I won’t have to change it again with any future little ones, & am very open to suggestions!
Yay for a great first week! I'm so glad to hear that waverly is adjusting well and that Avalon is a great sleeper :). The pictures of them together really are adorable!!!
So sweet! Love those pictures of her and Waverly!! XO, Kelly
So glad things are going well! You are a rockstar for transitioning to a mom of two so quickly with your husband going back to work! Your girls look so similar, yet Avalon has her own little features too! Congrats again! Hope life only continues to get sweeter & sweeter!

i am SO HAPPY she's here and fitting in so so so perfectly with your little fam!! she's seriously adorable. and yay for waverly being such an awesome big sis. her smiles LIGHT UP its the cutest!!
I'm SO glad you all are adjusting well and settling into life with two kids. Bummer your husband had to go back to work so soon, but at least it has allowed you to fall into your routine sooner rather than later. I absolutely LOVE that Waverly saw you with Avalon and said "yay! she is still here!" The SWEETEST! So happy for you! XO
Congratulations again, she is the sweetest! Also, so funny about the sort of reason behind the names and that they are places in VA. Waverly is one of the surfing beaches in OC, NJ where I grew up so ever since reading your blog and learning you live in VA Beach and your husband is a surfer, I thought it was funny how it related to my association, then when you announced Avalon I thought it was great bc Avalon is another shore town in NJ, just a few barrier islands down from OC. I figured you probably didn't know much about NJ beaches, but the two fit so well together in my mind.
I love this post! It's so great to hear that things are going so well! The comment about her still being there is so cute! Lol
As for e blog name, maybe use your last name in it? Or something to describe yourself or your family in general?
So glad your first week went well. I can only imagine how scary it would be to have your husband go back right away, two girls at home sounds like such a challenge. Hooray for family close and a super supportive older sister that adores her new lil sister :)!
I love both names, so pretty and unique. Maybe something like words with my girls or words by the waves [since you live near the beach]. Or bring in your fashion side, because it's such a big part of your life. ๐
Loving all of these photos, and I especially adore how happy Waverly is about everything! That makes everything so much easier and more special ๐
Beautiful girls you have! So glad to hear that things are going smoothly!
It's great to hear everyone is transitioning so well with the addition of Avalon! I love how excited Waverly is about her little sister. So sweet.
Oh you're giving me so much hope that I won't be a complete wreck once baby brother arrives, the way I was with Mia during the first few weeks!! I'm so glad the transition has been smooth so far… it actually sounds totally dreamy (except for the engorgement… nursing is so fun at first, HA!) Your girls are just the sweetest and I can't wait to hear more about life with both of them in it!!
I was wondering what's going to happen with the blog name! Can't wait to hear what you come up with. I'm sure it will be perfect just like your two little ladies ๐
