New Year, New Favorites!

Happy Friday!!  We are so ready for the weekend around here, I am hosting a shower for one of my best friends (& her baby girl) tomorrow, then it’s spa day Sunday, plus lots of family time in between!!  In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to share some of my current obsessions, the start of the new year brings so much goodness & there is LOTS to love out there right now. 🙂
1.  Gap’s baby & toddler spring line is totally killing it, has anyone else fallen in love with it like I have?!  Obsessed would be an understatement, the yellow & neutral colors speak my fashion language!  I have my eye on lots for both girls, especially this dress for Waverly Maye & this one for her little sister.
2.  I seriously cannot stop organizing or getting rid of things around the house right now, it’s that time of year, right?!  We are currently in the planning process of lots of house projects, there is so much to do before baby girl comes in five short months!  First on the list was to organize our playroom, I used these totes to get all of Waverly’s toys in some sort of order.  I swear I have a basket/tote addiction.
3.  One of my “resolutions” for 2015 was to get Waverly off the iphone, her addiction had gotten out of control & to the point that she was texting more people in my phone than I was. 😉  We went cold turkey, it was hard but she is doing really well now!  I am still letting her use the ipad, we downloaded lots of new apps & she loves them!  Some of our favorites are PBS Kids, Elmo 123, & the Coloring Game.

4.  It is soup season at our house, we love to make soups this time of year since they are so easy & last a while!  I had a major fail last weekend, I attempted to make a pasta fagioli but instead made a bowl of mush. I accidentally turned the crock pot on warm instead of high, which apparently makes a really big difference. 😉  I am looking to redeem myself this weekend with this soup recipe, fingers crossed!

5.   Much like the rest of the country, we are FREEZING here in VB.  We got a few flurries the other day, but other than that, are crossing our fingers for some real snow.  I feel like if it’s going to be this cold, we should be rewarded with the pretty stuff! 🙂  In the meantime, we are dressing in layers upon layers, this Gap leopard coat my mom got for Waverly is a definite favorite & I have my eye on this one (on sale) from Zara for both girls next year!

6.  Oh, Valentine’s Day, we are already so excited for you!!  It is definitely one of our favorite holidays & we are really looking forward it this year.  I ordered Waverly this chair backer to give her some goodies soon, I can’t wait to hang it February 1st!

Wishing you all the happiest (& warmest) weekend!
XO

Love the chair backer and love those Gap dresses! You should check out the app Endless Alphabet. It's a wee bit expensive for an app ($12 or something), but Brantley learned all of his letter that way! And here's hoping for some snow (and snow days!) soon!

In love with the gap spring line! I really need to go cold turkey with the iPhone with Foster too! It always blows my mind how well a 2 year old can work it!

Found your blog from Jessi's page–so glad that I did!
This is the perfect season for soups! Have you tried Broccoli cheddar? I have a great recipe on my blog that is suuuuuuper easy (not crock pot but still).
Good for you for purging! I need to do the same soon, especially as we get closer to re-doing our basement.
    Have a great weekend!!

I think all of us pregnant gals are hitting the nesting syndrome phases of our pregnancies:) Yesterday, I went to look for something in the guest room closet (which is going to be cleared out soon enough to make way for baby), and decided to get rid of a bunch of stuff in there right at that exact moment. I couldn't stand it any longer, lol! I

I have allowed myself to browse through the sale stuff at Gap, and have grabbed a few things there for both Caleb and Vivian. But, I have been trying to use will power and avoid looking at their new spring stuff. Because I know I will go crazy and want one of everything. Trying so hard to hold off until after my baby shower – at that point, I'll have a better idea of what we'll need. SO hard though!!!!

Sounds like you guys have a wonderful weekend to look forward to! Happy Friday!:)

  11. January 9, 2015 / 3:13 pm

I love this! Baby gap had always been a favorite of mine for Sydney! They are seriously the only place that sells jeans that fit her!!! We are in full on soup mode here too! I am kind of loving it! We had some in the freezer already so I have been just throwing them on the stove or in the crock pot. lol

  12. January 9, 2015 / 3:15 pm

Totally agree about Gapkids and baby right now. And loved that stage of pregnancy, I swear I got rid of half our stuff before this little lady arrived!

I got that bird dress for Harp too. Twinsies:)

  15. January 9, 2015 / 3:41 pm

Ah, she's too cute…texting and all! 😉 Cam is OBSESSED with his iPad, too, and we bring it whenever we go out to eat..is that bad? I feel like a bad mom, but he's always doing a puzzle or watching something educational-ish. I don't think you can ever have enough baskets, by the way! 🙂 (PS Please keeping linking to clothes for little girls…I will buy whatever you tell me to – hahaha kidding, kind of!)

  16. January 9, 2015 / 5:29 pm

I have been on an organizing spree lately too! I think the nesting is happening now!

  17. January 9, 2015 / 5:48 pm

Oh my gosh that is so funny she loves texting and calling people! My daughter loves to just play games on our phones. Luckily she got her own tablet this from Great Grandma so she's now set up. And yes to Gaps spring collection! So many great things!

  19. January 9, 2015 / 7:06 pm

Okay that valentines chair backer is the cutest thing I have seen!! (And not terribly expensive). That floral coat is speaking my language I might have to get one for Ellie!!

  20. January 9, 2015 / 8:24 pm

I have a totes probably too, but mine are always those big round ones, I have too many of them, and to be honest not really all that organizing, just throw stuff in, but then the kids have to take everything out to find that ONE toy they wanted…at the bottom, lol!

  21. January 9, 2015 / 10:26 pm

I love that she has an iPhone addiction. Such a teenager! And yes on all the Gap goodness. I am so excited to have a girl to shop for now!

We are purging as well and it feels SO GOOD! Our life is about to become pretty hectic so I'm trying to lighten the load now!
I hope you get some snow! We've had rain all weekend which is insane… I can't believe it's warm enough for rain instead of snow! I'm not complaining though!
I can't wait until we own a home! I have all sorts of plans to have shelving with totes to organize Mia's room and a play room! Somedaaaaaaaaaaaay!
