My Day as a SAHM

I really can’t complain too much about my job.  I teach Fashion, which (second to Waverly Maye), is my true passion.  I am able to get my “creativity on” at school, have a reason to get dressed up, and occasionally even have an opportunity to eat lunch while reading a magazine.  Furthermore, I am done at work by 2:45 each day and have the summers off.  I know I have it way better than others, and really have no right to whine about how I really would rather spend every day entirely with my baby girl.   So I won’t do that here.  At least not today.
But what I will do is share about my opportunity to be one of those SAHM’s this week.  Really, it wasn’t for the best of circumstances.  Our entire family was hit with the absolute worst, most contagious flu I have encountered in my entire life.  It was bad.  Painful.  But the upside was (1) that Waverly Maye still has shown no symptoms (fingers crossed) and (2) that it kept me away from school and thus, in my role as a Stay At Home Mom this past week.
Disclaimer:  This post is picture-heavy.  It makes me wonder how many pictures I would have of Waverly if I was with her 24 hours a day …
This was the face I got to wake up to (See below.)  Most days that I leave for work, Waverly is sleeping, which actually is a good thing because I don’t have to say good-bye to that sweet face.  Luckily, as a SAHM, I didn’t have to. 🙂

I was able to pick out all aspects of her “Outfit of the Day” without laying it out for her daddy.
Although, on a side note, he does a really good job of dressing her in those many aspects each & every day.
And just like the weekends, I got to feed her breakfast, her favorite meal of the day.  She’s such a morning girl, just like her Momma.

She must have been extra excited that I was home with her, because when it was time for her nap, this is what happened (See Below).  I don’t blame her for not being able to sleep with all the excitement of her Momma being home.  Guess it’s time to bring down the mattress.

Play time in the Jumperoo was a success.  For about 10 minutes.  It seems again, she was so happy that Mommy was home that she didn’t want me out of her sight or even out of reach.
So back on a side note, much respect to you SAHM’s.  Not that I didn’t have it before, within a week of having Waverly I pretty much wanted to give each mom out there a medal.  It is hard work.  But being able to look at that smile?  So rewarding.

An afternoon walk is always the highlight of our day.  This baby girl loves being outside, and again, I’m pretty sure she gets that from me.  It was my best medicine to get better. (Other than her, of course.)

Waverly’s Outfit is from Babies’R’Us, Flower from Micheals, and Sunglasses from Old Navy.

All in all, it was obviously the best sick day I have ever had.  The easiest one?  Definitely not.  I’ve quickly learned that being a mom, you don’t really have an opportunity to be sick.  You are “on” no matter what.  But it was the most rewarding, without a doubt.  Now it’s back to reality today, but thankfully it’s also Friday and the start to another weekend.  And I have summer to look forward to when I can truly be a SAHM every single day.  Yay. 🙂

Glad you are feeling better! I work full time at a hospital Fri-Sun, so while I'm gone alllllll day (I don't even get to see my little lady on Saturday's & Sundays….wahhhhhh!), I am able to be home with her Mon-Thurs. It totally wears me out, but it's my most favorite job ever. I want to soak up every minute of her baby-ness that I can!

Since I'm a law student I also get to double as a SAHM and I love it. The hours that I'm in class I miss my son so much that I dont know what I'm going to do when its time to actually go to work. I'm glad you are feeling better. Miss Waverly is adorable!
