Mom Style

It’s safe to say that my wardrobe has changed over the past few years, & even more so in the last few months since going part-time at work.  I still love fashion as much as I did before, but the days of heels and short skirts are gone.  Like really, really gone.  There’s nothing worse than trying to “mom” when you are not comfortable, even if you were a fashion major in college.
I find that most of the days I’m not working I reach for the same few pieces over & over again, so I thought it would be fun to share those favorites, specifically for winter.  So here goes! 🙂
Leopard BeanieStriped TeeJeansBooties JacketScarfBlack PulloverShoes
I like to start with a good long sleeve tee, striped ones of all different colors (especially neutrals!) have always been my favorite.  Then layer!!!  I got quite a few solid sweatshirts like the one above for Christmas & I LOVE them, so perfect for a day at home or errands with the girls.  And if you are looking for a good lightweight jacket that is really versatile but still feels fashionable, I got a green one (identical to the one I linked above) years ago and it’s still my go-to every fall and winter.

As far as bottoms, I love a good skinny jean, paired with booties, flats or even the Nikes I linked above (which I recently got & am obsessed with, I want to wear them everyday!).  Yeeeet if I’m honest, more often than not lately, all I want to do is wear leggings.  I never really wore them before I was pregnant, but I’m officially converted, jeans are just not even close to as comfy.
It’s probably really bad when you think that wearing jeans is dressed up.

So here is my question to you!  What leggings are your favorite?!  I loved these while pregnant, but have yet to find a pair I like as much for non-maternity, & I definitely don’t want to wear maternity leggings 7 months postpartum.  I’m looking for some that aren’t cotton or see through, that wash well, and that don’t look like work out leggings, if that makes sense.  Please share if you have a fave!

And happy halfway through the week! XO

I hear ya on the "jeans is being dressed up" fashion! I have yet to find a good legging, so if you find one, let me know! I've worn the Hue leggings and the Zella leggings but I feel like the zella ones still look workout-ish. I love my lululemon wonder unders but those are definitely workout material!

Those may not be short skits and heels but I love your style!! I loved skinny jeans and leggings too! Pair those with a cute fashion T and some flats and I'm a happy momma! I struggling with finding the perfect legging too. I'd love to hear what ones you get as recommendations.

Look at the leggings on White Plum…they are fantastic! And they have fleece lined and cable knit. I discovered this website through another blog and love it. Plus they have daily specials with certain things on major sale. Good luck!! Krista

I think your mom style is adorable…it looks a lot like my style…which either says something about me or you lol. Lets hope it says that you're a stylish mom! haha

Your mom style is on point! Great board!

I love your style. Mine changed after kids too. Pretty much just give me all the stripes. Haha. As far as leggings go I love my black Zella "live in" slim fit leggings, and my J.Crew ones. Both amazingly comfy. Leggings for the win!

I really love the leggings Grace and Lace released a couple of months ago! I'm not a legging girl at all but I really like theirs! They come in black and charcoal, are the perfect weight and have great stretch. They look a bit nicer than your "basic" leggings and they wash really well. I actually first grabbed a pair for my preggo belly, even though they aren't maternity leggings at all, because they have a waist band that you can pull up or fold down. Even folded down and without a baby bump, they don't look bulky at all under your clothes and kind of give you a bit of a "control top" feel, which, let's face it, is always nice! Ha!

Before Evan my closet was full of heels and never wore tennis shoes unless I was working out. Now it's the complete opposite. I live in leggings, or black jeans and my Nikes. haha Love your style mama! xoxo

I need all of these! Your Mom Style is on point! I have vowed to try and put a bit more into myself this year, because, hello I have kind of been living in leggings and tennies for way to long. Thanks for the great picks, friend!

I love the Stitch Fix leggings I recently received! They are thick and non-see through!! I have some super inexpensive, fleece-lined leggings from Target ($12) that are also great, but they ball up pretty badly. And I have these Assets brand leggings (also from Target) that are thick and don't ball up, but they are super shiny…http://www.target.com/p/assets-by-sara-blakely-a-spanx-brand-women-s-seamless-slimming-2045/-/A-14978820#prodSlot=medium_1_3&term=assets+by+spanx.

I love these winter basics! I want that hat and the plaid scarf! I've heard really good things about Lularoe (is that spelled right?) leggings. Everyone seems to rave about them, but I haven't tried them yet. I usually just grab a cheap pair at Nordstrom rack. I do have some Zella ones for working out that I love, but they look like workout leggings. Let us know if you find the perfect pair!

Gap leggings. I'm a legging snob.. They run a little pricey ($30) but so so so worth it. They have a great waistline and length, but feel like pajama pants without looking like them. So comfy. So wonderful!

  14. January 27, 2016 / 7:40 pm

Yes to all of these! Though I find I like wearing slip on sneakers because who has time to tie laces? Haha.

  15. January 27, 2016 / 9:01 pm

Zella leggings are my by far favorite! It's not even worth having anything else!

  16. January 27, 2016 / 9:44 pm

I have yet to jump on the legging boat; but I love me some comfy t-shirts and a good pair of jeans. It is what I wear every single day. Give me all the jeans, long sleeve t-shirts [it's nice to know that you also get the same shirt in multiple colors :], and comfy pullovers. They all make my heart happy. I hope you find some good leggings!

I am jealous at how warm-weatherish your winter necessities are! My list would include parkas, mitts, boots, etc. As for leggings, I usually wear my lululemon ones because I love how thick the fabric is avoiding the seethroughness.

  18. January 27, 2016 / 11:04 pm

Love these!! And I so agree with you. I mean, I was definitely not as cute and fashionable as you to begin with, but my style has signifcantly changed over the years. That and now my job is SUPER casual, like SUPER casual, so I'm balancing trying to be cute with trying not to be too dressy at the same time. LOVE that scarf you linked to! Always a go to for me!

I find myself reaching for the same items as well…. Eric's basketball shorts and sweats, OY! Ha ha! I do love the days that we get out of the house and actually have to get dressed! I'm also excited for more freedom when I can go longer between nursing sessions (or when we are done) and have complete freedom with my wardrobe again! LOVE your finds!

I love everything you picked! I have some Hue leggings I really like, but honestly I wear my Zella's all the time. I have them in solid black and I know they are workout pants, but I just love how thick they are and how they keep their shape, even after a long day!

  21. January 28, 2016 / 4:37 am

I keep telling myself that there will come a day when I wear real pants on a normal basis again…but I'm not sure I want to imagine that! Ha! 😉 Love all of your picks, as usual!

  22. January 28, 2016 / 11:23 am

I love loft's ponte leggings… Just thick enough not to be see through.

  23. January 28, 2016 / 5:49 pm

I love this post. My style has changed sooo much since I stopped working. Especially since that coincided with a move to a very windy place…ahem…short skirts and dresses are out. I have no need for a Marilyn Monroe moment in the grocery store parking lot.

I really love my Ann Taylor leggings. They're nice and thick so they are not even remotely transparent and keep me warm enough. They're sturdy enough to pass as pants.

J.Jill leggings are AMAZING. my mom recently started buying things for me from J.Jill and I had to have a serious sit-down with her about how, though I AM 30, I'm not quite ready for J.Jill (old lady shapes!!) but MAN their leggings are high-quailty and wear so well. Plus, they have a thick version as well, perfect for winter.
