Lessons from my Little Lady

This Sunday will be my first Mother’s Day as a mom.  Even though Waverly Maye was clearly “in the oven” at this time last year, the mom title was hardly yet official.

It would be an understatement to say that a lot has changed since this time last year.  While I still have LOTS to learn, I would undoubtably say that I have grown more as a person recently than any other period in my entire life.  Since having Waverly Maye, I have obviously learned some practical lessons, but most importantly, this little lady has taught me about life.   While anticipating her arrival, I knew there was lots I had to teach her.  What I didn’t know is all she would show me.
Watching the world through those beautiful blue eyes is incredibly rewarding.  Everything excites her, is interesting to her, and she takes advantage of each & every moment of the day.
Really.  This girl fights naps like its her job.  She seriously doesn’t want to miss a moment that life has to offer.  And as much as I know my 9-month old needs to take a rest during the day, I can’t blame her for wanting to live it up.

Waverly Maye is a morning girl, just like her momma.  She wakes up ridiculously excited for another day.  Once she makes sure she gets our attention and we arrive by her crib to get her, she claps her hands with pure joy.
She claps her hands a lot these days.  She is SO happy.  All the time.
Except when she wants her bottle.  ASAP.  And we aren’t being quick enough.  Or when she wants to play with my craft supplies basket instead of her toys and I won’t let her.  But those moments can be immediatly turned around.  You get the point.
Being a mom is better than I could have ever imagined.  I have certainly had stressful days, hard moments, and felt overwhelmed more than once (or twice).  Yet this special little person that I am so lucky to call my daugher makes each day special & memorable.  She makes me realize that the little things I worry about are just that.  Little.  She has taught me the real meaning for life – for my life – and to take advantage of each part of it.  To live everyday to the fullest, and to get excited to do just that.
I couldn’t love her more.
(Although I thought that yesterday, and today I am pretty sure that I do.)
HASH TAG – Love being a mom. And am so thankful that I am.
