If you have read any of my posts lately or follow me on Instagram (ashleywbrickner), you know that we have been hit with two snowstorms & that’s kind of a big deal for us. I still do realize that for others, this really wouldn’t be anything worth talking about for days on end … but I really can’t help myself. The last couple of weeks have been so memorable, so special & so FULL of “little” moments that for this week’s link-up, I literally could not write about anything else than this.
Forgive me, I promise this is the last time I will mention the word snow … I think. 😉
Waverly Maye LOVED the snow. She loved playing in it, she loved eating it, & she loved the feel of it (which explains the lack of mittens, those bad boys didn’t stand a chance). She was the happiest snowbunny ever, to the point that we almost considered moving to a place where this actually happens. Almost.
It was a gem of a few days watching her experience something brand new to her, which really is one of my favorite parts of being a mom. You know, living life again, through the eyes of your child this time.
Yet more than anything, the greatest moments of this crazy snowstorm weren’t the perfectly planned ones we spent outside in the snow. Although there were a lot of them (you know this mama couldn’t resist), & it’s obviously those moments that I took the most pictures of …

It’s really not those that made me stop to close my eyes & permanantly imprint the moment in my brain forever (although I loved those too!). It was the “little” moments between me & my girl over those few days I got to spend at home that really, truly made me appreciate her & this special bond that we have. The ones with just us, inside spending ALL day together without an ability to go anywhere at all. The ones on the floor playing puzzles, reading board books or cuddling while watching Sesame Street.
I am definitely guilty of always being on the go, of always looking ahead to the next event or activity that we can take part in, while making so many memories along the way. I like to blame it on my Type-A nature & also being a working mom (you know, trying to take advantage of each & every moment I do have with Waverly). Yet at the end of the day, literally, I am realizing more & more that it’s the “little” moments that really count. That those “little” moments are the ones that will have the most positive impact on our kids in the end.

That doesn’t mean that I plan to stop “planning” ever again … I mean, obviously that would be really hard for me to do! But I am “planning” on more time at home with this little lady, while letting her the chance to grow & explore. On focusing less on what moments I can create & letting them happen on their own. And obviously, continuing to love this little girl to the moon, I still can’t believe how lucky I am to have her.

look at that grin!!
Look at her adorable outfits! 🙂 SO CUTE!
Aww, the pure joy on Waverly's face makes me smile. Almost makes me wish we lived somewhere that snowed. (Almost.) I love this theme: "living life again, through the eyes of your child this time." Kids really make you stop and notice things that you normally wouldn't glance twice at. It's perfect for the theme of this series 🙂
