It’s The Little Things: Week Seventeen

First off, thank you for your sweet comments on our recent trip to the beach! πŸ™‚  We really have mastered Waverly Maye’s personality, anything that involves running, exploring, & being outside is totally her thing.  Nothing makes her happier than being able to run free.  I can’t even count the number of times I have been stopped & asked lately how old she is or when she learned to walk, they are amazed at how quick she is for such a little person.  I always come close to saying “at birth”, I really feel like I have been chasing after her since then. πŸ˜‰

So I just knew that much like the beach, a trip to the strawberry patch would top her list of favorite things to do.  We randomly went a couple Mondays ago, the window for good strawberries is really so short we wanted to get there while we could.  Also, Waverly’s cousins were going, she is obsessed with everything about them.

Strawberry Print Bow, Similar TopOveralls, & Shoes
This child is as enthusiastic as they come, & I’m sure there has never been another activity she loved more than this.  Waverly was all about the fact that there was tons of room for her to roam, it was perfect for a toddler since the aisles (is that what they are called?) were long but kept us from losing her.  Once she figured out how to pick the berries, she was so proud of herself.  The cutest.

Another plus, eating the berries. πŸ™‚  I’m not sure I should publicly admit this since the ones she ate (one bite out of each) were not weighed in the baskets we paid for, but there was no stopping Waverly.  She could not get over the fact that there were so many, she was definitely very impressed.  She kept repeating “diapas” since that is what she has been calling berries for months now, it’s totally random & once again, we have no idea where it comes from.  Yet we all know exactly what she means when she says it & so, obviously, we just go with it.
Does anyone else’s toddler have their own language, too?!
Regardless, the berries we have pulled out of the fridge since then are just not nearly as cool.  These were her favorite ever.
It definitely was one of the most memorable days we have had, I can’t wait to take her back next year!!  I live for traditions like this. πŸ™‚ If you have one in your area, Waverly & I definitely recomend a trip!  It was well worth the red stains that I’m not sure I will ever be able to get out. πŸ˜‰

We are so excited to share a giveaway with you this week, as a thank you for your continued support & participation of this link-up!   Sarah from Foxy’s Domestic Side is offering one lucky reader a tutu & matching flower sandals.  Sarah’s blog is the cutest, definitely check it out!  Enter below & good luck, the winner will be announced in next Wednesday’s link-up.  Also, see this post for anyone who needs a reminder on how to join in with us each week.  We hope you are having a great one! πŸ™‚

  19. June 5, 2014 / 12:45 am

oh man Aria went strawberry picking last year before she could walk and we had so much fun, I really wanted to go this year we just couldn't make the times work. sigh. I think blueberries are going on though so maybe the stars will align for that. Aria sure does love blueberries. The overalls are the cutest as are those red stained fingers and lips =)

  20. June 5, 2014 / 2:25 am

These pictures are just priceless…the overalls, the red hands…I love it all!!! And Arden has a few made up words in her vocab too–for the longest time, mac & cheese was "tattoo". Say what?!?! πŸ˜‰

  21. June 5, 2014 / 3:40 am

TOO CUTE! We have a strawberry farm that we can go to here, but I've never taken Mason for fear that he will just roam free and face plant into the strawberry bushes. Or maybe I'm being dramatic, but I'm sure he would run free for sure. Looks like you guys had the BEST time and Waverly looks SO HAPPY to be eating the strawberries!!

  22. June 5, 2014 / 7:55 pm

Oh my gosh – I can't handle the cuteness of ther little outfit (perfect!), and how much she enjoyed eating those berries! What a perfectly fun little trip.

  23. June 9, 2014 / 6:47 am

Ahh.. my whole long reply disappeared! lol! Anyhow these photos are to die for! Well worth any stains! Miss Waverly seems to have grown up overnight! I'll need to check if our local working farm has something similar right now! Looks so fun! Waverly and Kaitlyn are so similar – just go, go, go all the time! Happy Monday!

It’s The Little Things: Week Seventeen

We had the most incredible weekend, one of those that you never want to end & also, that you need another one right after to recover from. πŸ˜‰  It really was the most fun, the weather could not have been better & it was the perfect start to what I know is going to be one memorable summer.

I’m pretty sure my smile running out of work Friday afternoon was even bigger than the one Waverly gets going down the slide lately.  And that is saying something, the slide brings my girl some serious smiles. πŸ™‚  We were very ready for a three-day weekend, & kicked it off with a fro-yo date followed by one at the park.  Waverly was obsessed with another little girl she met on the jungle gym, she named her “Mimi” & kept repeating it while giving her the biggest hugs ever.  The girl’s name was Catherine & she was 3, luckily she was also as sweet as can be & let Waverly give her a new name for the entire afternoon.

Waverly has been asking for “Mimi” ever since, her & “Bobby” get way more conversation time than anyone else lately.  Oh, how I love this child (& her imagination)!

ο»Ώ
We spent the majority of our weekend grilling out with loved ones, eating, drinking & celebrating entirely too much.  Just the way warm weather weekends should be, right?!  Waverly had an absolute blast, she loved every minute of all the extra people to entertain her & obviously, decided not to nap because she didn’t want to miss a thing.  By late Sunday afternoon, we debated leaving her at home with our in-laws rather than taking her to another cookout.  I was convinced she would breakdown at any moment from major lack of sleep yet ultimately, we took her & she partied like a rock star.
I’m sure I’ll regret it when Waverly decides to never nap again, but at the time it was well-worth it.
In food news, I was really excited to attempt to expand my cooking skills with a new side dish this weekend.  I’m starting to think that the boxed pasta salad I’ve been showing up with for a few years now is really getting old.  I saw this recipe on Natalie’s blog a couple of weeks ago, I love a cold dish in the summer & this corn salad seemed easy enough.  It was super delicious, we made it for two seperate cookouts & it was a hit at both.

Lastly, I couldn’t resist a festive brunch for our little family on Sunday morning before we hit the beach.  These “mini” waffles are perfect for toddler fingers, they are a go-to for Waverly’s breakfast each day.  Sometimes she just sucks the syrup out of them, but most days, we consider them a win!  She also loves strawberries & blueberries, watermelon was a favorite last year but this time, she said “EW!” if they were anywhere near her plate.  Toddlers. πŸ™‚

.
Overall, such a great weekend full of “little” moments & memories that I know will last forever.  I just keep thinking that these are the days, I don’t think life can get much better than this. πŸ™‚
