I’m going to go ahead & refer to this as
sick season at our house, both Waverly & I have been battling sicknesses while desperately fighting the need to slow down (not our strongest asset, either of us). Last week, Waverly got the worst diaper rash of all time paired with her little red cheeks looking
redder than ever. She showed signs of her usual hyperactive self quickly followed with really quiet moments & hardly ate anything at all. Needless to say, I took off work & while I hated seeing my girl like that, didn’t mind an opportunity for extra time with her & lots of cuddling.
Naturally, I got it a few days later (minus the diaper rash) & have had the worst cold ever since. Waverly had a short-term recovery over the weekend & yesterday morning, woke up with a nose completely sealed shut, she was that stuffed up. So it’s been interesting our way, we are hoping & wishing to be all better soon!! In the meantime, we are so glad we took advantage of feeling good & the good weather over the weekend, it truly was one for the books!!

As soon as we woke up Sunday morning, we packed the diaper bag, snacks & Waverly Maye in the car to head for a kids cove in our area. The weather was beyond beautiful, Waverly was in the best of moods, & daddy was off work for the entire day. We had no plans & time to kill, which really is our favorite kind of day!!
During Waverly’s naptime, I packed a picnic lunch for us & as soon as she got up, we headed to the front yard. She clearly loved this fun spin on lunch (& not being strapped to a high chair), my wild girl ran around the front yard in between bites in PURE delight. I’m pretty sure it was the no shoe thing that really had her going, she looked so happy to have the feel of the grass on her toes!! I don’t blame her, it has been a long winter & every little part of us needs some fresh air.
My husband arrived about halfway through our lunch & joined us, we just sat there & watched our happy, happy girl. I feel like that is a repeat activity for us lately, just watching Waverly Maye. Now that she is more independent & really is her own person, there is nothing better than just sitting back & watching every move she makes. I’m sure it’s very obvious that she is the center of our world right now, our everything, & that our favorite moments are these “little” ones we spend with her.
So I have a confession to make. We definitely want more kids, but truthfully, I really can’t even begin to imagine how that would be. It kind of makes me sad (& scared) to accept that for another child, we won’t have these same kind of moments. Moments where its ALL about them like it has been for Waverly. Our life & daily routine truly is all about her, & it really is hard to think that it can never be like that for our other kids. And of course, I can’t even begin to think how it would be for Waverly.
For what it’s worth, our little lady is a bit of a diva.
I mean, it’s Waverly’s world & we are all just living in it. ๐
My babysitter told me the other day that it’s very obvious that Waverly is an only child, she is an angel all morning long until the other baby she watches gets up from her nap. Apparently when 100% attention has to be shared, all hell breaks loose & Waverly’s little world falls apart. For the record, I have no idea where she gets it from! ๐
At the end of the day, I love the fact that she knows how much we love her & as a mom, that’s something I plan to remind her of forever & ever. I admit it, she has us completely wrapped around her finger & there is nothing her daddy or I wouldn’t do for her. THAT will never change.

It’s WEEK FIVE of this link-up & as always, we are so very thankful of your support! Your stories just keep getting better & better, I really look forward to reading your posts each week. As a reminder, all you have to do is write your post with whatever “little

I totally love this post, there were so many times that I was nodding furiously! We too are having lots of chats about when the right time is for number two and I feel like i share all of your concerns too. It's hard to think that our hearts can expand to double its size!!! But imagine if you could have TWO Waverley's…. that's whats pushing us forward, another little one as precious as Madeleine makes us want ten more!!! xx
Love the idea of a picnic on the front yard! Such a fun way to spend the afternoon!
I am in love with this post! Your blog is seriously becoming one of my very favorites to read! I get excited when I see new posts. Lol
But I am the same way when it comes to having another baby. Our world has been all Sydney for so long, and I feel guilty wanting to disrupt that, but I think/know it would benefit her at the same time. And I am so JEALOUS of your weather this weekend! I can not wait until the snow is gone and we can play outside. I long for warm weather!!!
I hope you all feel better soon!!!
Those leggings are too die for! Love them…she is so dang stylish!
We are with you on the second baby idea – we know we want another, it's just we are loving our time with Cruz so much. I know it will happen when the time is right but we aren't in any rush now…except that I don't want Cruz to be a teenager when this mama gets prego again…now that would be a nightmare!
I have the same thoughts about having another child. And Waverly is not alone with being an only child… I watch another little girl (14 months) a few days a weeks and Grace gets so jealous and doesn't know how to share me or anything else. But I love giving her all my attention.

Yay for picnics! Such cute photos as always!
We try and picnic often in the front yard, it makes for some great moments for all three of us! She is a little fashionista and I LOVE it. So cute.

So cute! Literally every week I love to see her style. And speaking of style, your husband is pretty stylish in Waverly's sunglasses too! ๐ Love the idea of a front yard picnic!
Oh my gosh, I hope you feel better!! I guess all of these changing temps is getting to everyone!!
I totally agree with you about baby #2. We definitely want more, but I know it will be totally different, but maybe that's ok. Maybe we will be a little less worried and obsessed – yeah right! I don't those will ever go away!! Haha
PS She is a total diva…it's definitely her world! ๐
Love those sunglasses! They look perfect for her. Also, those pigtails are darling!
Diva for sure! Those sunglasses complete her look. Too cute!

Oh my – look at those glasses. Diva, FOR SURE!! ๐ Hope you're all feeling better!!
She is too much cuteness! Love her style. ๐ thanks for the link up! Love the idea to stop and remember the little things.
i'm glad you didn't get the diaper rash ๐ and your little picnic is AMAZING!!! i have the exact same thought about babe #2. as much as i want one- i know it'll be different. and i don't like change!!
The thought of not being able to devote a 100% to baby #2 is a scary thought! But I think about how wonderful the gift of a sibling is, which gets me excited all over again!
How CUTE are those leather pants and sunnies? I hope you and Waverly are both feeling better as the days go by!
I know what you mean about having another child. We definitely want one, my husband and I wonder all the time, how do you split up that time? We can't imagine not focusing all our attention on Miss A. I do love the thought of her having a sibling and know that will be a wonderful joy!
I love eating lunch outside, I can't wait to do it regularly when the warm weather stays!
First of all, I hope you're all feeling better! Secondly, that photo of Waverly running around wild and free without her shoes is too cute. It makes me remember how much I hated shoes as a kid. Even now, grass between bare toes is one of the best feelings. And finally, I too have to admit that I have those same exact concerns about having another child. But then I think about what my world would be like without my siblings, and I really want Ezzy to experience that kind of bond with someone too. Kids are very good at adapting (much better than we are!)
Loved your post and your honesty ๐
The Joni Journey
I hope you all are starting to feel better… That is just the worst :(. The weather and picnic look perfect!!!! I am SO ready for spring!!! haha!!
this has been a sick season for my family, too. makes being a mommy very hard. spring will be here soon!!
Loooove dream catchers – creative giveaway!
Waverly is adorable and I remember feeling the same way about going from 1 to 2. But ultimately we knew we wanted more for us and a sibling for our son. Life is more fun with a built in friend. LOVE her pigtails!
OMG she is just the cutest!! I love her little leather pants! I can't wait for when Ellie gets bigger so we can have picnics too! Not to mention sit back and watch her be a little independent person!! LOVE

I cant even handle her outfit and cuteness!!
Oh my gosh. She is so cute!
She seriously has the cutest clothes! I babysat for a little girl who's school once said to her parents "she thinks she's the center of the universe" to which the parents said "well she is the center of our universe" lol. She really was a sweet but only child ๐
Diaper rashes are the worst. I loathe them so much.
I loveeee your picnic, I haven't had one with Aria for months…back when she was not mobile. Sounds a little more chaotic now, but awesome!
ugh, sick season here too!! fingers crossed for healthier girls, all around!
