I have been planning to post about “a day in our life” for some time now, these posts are some of my very favorite to read & I definitely want to have a written record of our life to look back on some day. As a working mom, our weekdays are busy, crazy & most often, tiring. Yet more importantly, I can’t think of one day where at least a couple “little things” didn’t happen to make me stop & really appreciate this life I have. I love being a mom to this sweet little girl, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

My alarm goes off at 5:30 each morning so that I can get ready & out the door by 6:30. Other than the fact that I am starting to believe more each day that being up when it’s still dark out is just wrong, what is more painful is that Waverly is usually still sleeping most days when I leave. This is definitely the part of my schedule that is hardest for me, I obviously hate going that long without seeing Waverly, but deal with it since the early start to my day is why I am also off all afternoon. Also a positive, my husband’s schedule makes it easy for him to get her ready, give her breakfast, take her to the sitter & my favorite, send me a video of her each morning. Or else. 😉
I really do think the daddy & daughter time each morning is good for both of them, I often wish I could secretly watch what goes down in that house with those two each day. The thought alone of the hubs putting Waverly’s outfits & accesories on her (that I obviously laid out the night before, each & every piece), makes me really, really smile.
My workday ends at 2:35 which is when I leave to pick up Waverly from one of our three sitters. I really still get butterflies on my way to get her, I am so excited for us to reunite that it makes me giddy. Wednesdays & Thursdays are the only days she is with someone other than family, on those days she is standing outside & when she sees me yells “mama” with the biggest smile on her face. At that moment, I don’t even want to turn the car off (it would take too much time), instead I would prefer to jump out of the moving vehicle to give her the biggest hug & never let go. 🙂

Some days we run an errand or hit the kids gym, but most days we head straight home for quality girl time. We eat a snack (or three), play puzzles, try on shoes, read books, & lately, have been spending the majority of our time outside at the park or on walks. I really try to put my computer, phone or any social media away during these couple of hours. They are the highlight of my day & what motivate me when that alarm clock goes off in the morning.

Around 5:30, I make some sort of attempt at dinner (not always successfully), give Waverly a quick bath (she is not much into it these days, she would rather be “outside”), & by that time, my husband is home at 6. He spends a couple of minutes with her while I lay out her clothes for the next day & then it’s dinner & a few minutes of quality time as a family.
Waverly & I go to her room at about 7 each night, read her current favorite books a few times through, & then I sing “You are My Sunshine” about 75 times in a row. Seriously, if I stop she says “sing” & looks up at me with those bright blues to let me know I better not be leaving anytime soon. I’m usually there until after 7:30, I can’t believe she still lets me hold her for that long & hope we can still do this when she is 16. 😉

I spend the last part of the day picking up around the house, doing laundry, & hanging with the husband. Most nights I have the best intentions to be “crazy” & stay up past 10, yet it’s totally rare for that to actually happen. To think I used to head out for the night at 10.
My best advice to other working moms is to see the positive in your situation. Cherish those moments you do have with your little one & make the most of them. And if you are a teacher, count down the days until summer break (22 with exams).

wow your days sound busy and SO early! I love that you pick her outfits out and your hubby puts all of the accessories on her each morning! So sweet!
I love that you lay our Waverly's outfit for your husband! We've gotten into the "ahhh I'll just tell people that Maddie dressed herself today" whenever my husband has free reign over dressing her!! xx
I've always thought that if I did have to go back to work that a teacher's schedule would be pretty nice. It's early but getting the afternoons and summers is great! I agree that looking at the positives is the way to do it. Also kudos for putting your phone and computer away… I need to work on that!
Waverly is so adorable! It's hard leaving my daughter everyday. I get excited when I go to pick her up. It's hard working outside the home. I do think its good for kids to be around other people and not depend on you being around all day.
I would definitely lay out the outfits ahead of time too—the few times my husband has dressed our girls they've ended up in pjs because he claims that's the only thing he knows for sure matches, top and bottoms haha
Love this recap! And the photos of course. Sounds like you each have some good quality time with her.
This is so sweet! I have to admit that if I left Sydney every morning and Chris had to get her dressed, I bet I would lay out outfits and accessories too! But lately even if I do that, Sydney has started choosing her own and wants something else. It is so nice to see just how much you love Waverly in your posts!
What a sweet day- seems like a great schedule and I love the "video or else" part! haha You'll have to share one! Hope you guys have a great day today as well! xoxo
Love your recap of your day from the working mom perspective. I am a working Mom too and thankfully I also have family watching my children. Some days my 3 yo son isn't even ready to leave when I pick him up! LOL
I love how much of a priority Waverly is to you and how much time you designate as quality time with her!
I just love this sweet recap. So very tender. Your love for your daughter oozes off the page.
I love these daily recaps. They are my favorite to read too (and fun to look back at too). It is nice to see how other working mom's navigate through their day. Fun post today!
I love reading these posts!!! Precious pictures of your sweet girl!
we're up at 5:30 every morning too. . . but that's because lex is up that early these days. being up before the sun is zero fun! i love that your schedule has you off early and hanging out in the afternoons. 100% worth the early wake ups!!
I love this post! It feels good to read about other working mamas and get motivation to enjoy the little moments!!
Very jealous of your afternoons with your sweetie! 🙂 But I do get Fridays off (most of the year) so it makes up for it. And I love that your hubby gets her ready in the mornings…we have a boy and I still can't imagine my hubby getting him and Carter out the door halfway put together. Oh, and we rarely even make it past 9 over here at night…so you are doing better than us! 🙂
I must admit, I am a little jealous of your afternoons and summers. 😉 As a working mom, I understand the importance of soaking up every moment with your little one. This was a great reminder!
I LOVE posts like this! Someday I swear I am actually going to get my booty together and post one like it too 🙂
I loved reading about your day!!! I seriously smiled so large when I read that you lay out Waverly's clothes and accessories for your husband each night – I do that for my husband when I know he will have to dress Kendall instead of me. What would those men do without us? 🙂 And I completely agree with you about trying to stay up past 10 – I'm usually "napping" on the couch around 9 p.m. Isn't it crazy how life changes with little ones? But I wouldn't have it any other way. I love reading about how much you love Waverly, the love just oozes off my computer screen. Thanks for keeping it so positive on the internet. Your relationship with her is so special. XOXO
I love how much you cherish your time together! 🙂 And you're right–those easily mornings are definitely worth your afternoons with that sweet girl!
You are such a great mama! I love seeing all your pictures together, you can definitely tell you spend a bunch of time with your little babe! I am so not a fan of 5:30 wake up calls.. Rae has been on a streak of early mornings and it.is.killing.me
I am always curious about the time that just Conor & Liam spend together too! Waverly is looking cute as ever; that is totally her color!
SO sweet! I am lucky that I get to have morning time and after school time with Ellie (just the way my schedule works out being 0.6FTE) I love the time I get with her!!

Love that you pick out the outfits (accessories and all), and the hubs dresses her. Even with a little man I do the same thing when my main man has to dress our little guy. 🙂
Such a sweet pea! I got married last weekend can't wait to have five just like her lol 🙂
Congrats, how exciting!!!!!! 🙂
I sure love these types of posts! And, I love that Waverly and her dad get some time together in the morning. Aria is super clingy to mom right now so it would be awesome if she had some one on one time with dad built right in, I'm sure it would make dad happy too.
I think you do such an amazing job of being a working mama! Spending quality time with Waverly in all the moments you can. But, yay for summer soon!
What a busy day you guys have! It's so nice that you can go in early and then be able to leave earlier to pick her up. I'm sure that extra time with her in the afternoon makes all difference! 🙂 22 days until summer!!
Leaving for work that early definitely stinks, but how great that you get a good part of the afternoon and night with W!! Especially as the weather gets nicer!
Hi Ashley! I am so excited that I am the winner of the giveaway. I emailed you (at a gmail address) hopefully that was correct? Please let me know what I need to do from here. Thank you soooooooo much!!!! Krista
Hey girl!!! CONGRATS! I am so happy for you & have been waiting for your email! Not sure where you got the email from – but mine is akwright@vbschools.com! Email when you can & we will get this thing rolling! 🙂
I love reading day in the life posts from other moms. Everyone has their own way of doing things but we can all learn something from one another. Forget mommy wars – we are all in this together!
It does seem bittersweet that our husband does the owning routine, including getting her dressed in the outfits you pick every day! So most days she is with a family member? That is so awesome! Countdown to summer break begins! I'm looking forward to all your posts with activities with Waverly soon!

You are such a wonderful mama and she is just precious!
I love this! I just did a day in the life post yesterday (and actually one last week also because I have a different work week schedule (i.e. a different time every day)) and it's so interesting to me to see what other moms (especially working moms!) are like. But my question is… when do you have time to blog?! That's my problem. Between work, eating, and family stuff, I have like an hour before I get super tired and fall asleep on the couch to blog, read blogs, and make mine and Mason's lunch for the next day!
