We got into the spirit earlier than ever this year, a couple weeks back we took the girls to the mall the night Santa came in. Waverly remains legitimately petrified by him, something that’s been on repeat since she was one, and I’ve definitely decided that’s one battle I am not going to fight this year. She was perfectly content staying back and watching from a distance, without taking her eyes off of him, and I’ve promised her that’s all she has to do when we take our annual trip to visit Santa at Bass Pro Shops this weekend. She’s written two letters to Santa (one from her requesting a Shopkins bike & the other in her words from Avalon, asking for Elmo since that’s her favorite), and she’s planning to have Avalon deliver them for her when she sits on his lap. Which pretty much just melts my heart.
Our elf on the shelf also made her debut!!! I usually wait until December 1st, but I knew I had to work that day and it would be just way too crazy, so we did a themed breakfast over the weekend. We have had so much fun with this already, Waverly gets so excited to see where she is each morning and Avalon always runs over to where we find her laughing & pointing, saying “hi elf!”. Also, at the risk of screwing myself on this one, so far the fear that the elf is going to report bad things to Santa has worked like a charm. We are riding that one for as loooong as we can.

The night after Thanksgiving we made a list of the things we want to do this holiday season. It was so much fun having Waverly join in this time, remembering things that we have done in the past and wanting to do them again. Can’t wait to check off this list, it’s truly the most wonderful time of the year!!!
1 – Make Christmas cookies.
2. Go to Christmastown.
3. Bass Pro Shops to see Santa.
4 – Go pick out a tree.
5 – Drive around and look at lights and drink hot chocolate.
6 – Go pick out a toy to give the less fortunate.
7 – Watch holiday movies and eat popcorn (so far Waverly’s favorite is the grinch!).
8 – Caroling at mommy’s school.
9 – Ice skating.
10 – Go see The Nutcracker.
Wishing you the happiest weekend! XO
I love this time of year! Noah is also nervous around Santa. He loves watching him from afar and talks about him a lot, but won't go near him without us and still won't talk to him. He's been this way since a baby as well. I guess we should be glad they aren't eager to sit on a strangers lap ;). And good luck with ice skating! We tried last year and it was a disaster when we remembered Chris and I haven't been since children and could barely stand up, let alone hold Noah up too… It was comical!
It cracks me up that your spirited child is the one afraid of Santa. Silly Waverly, but as long as she's happy that's all that matters. π The photo of the girls smooching just melts me. Goodness! Love your Holiday bucket list. Have a great weekend.
Your girls are just too precious! P is pretty terrified of Santa too so I am so curious to see how she reacts this year!
These pictures are the sweetest! I hope you have a great month!
Love that Avalon is so into the elf already! Finn is too. It's amazing what they pick up from the older ones. Finn is fully aware he can't touch the elf, however he does not listen to the same instructions about our tree…
Love this list. We want to go ice skating π
Aw! What a sweet list! Maybe when she sees Avalon being brave she'll want to join in too π Or maybe A will freak out and you'll get another fantastic screaming picture lol!
Sounds like you guys are going to have a great December!!!
I love that picture of the girls on your bed – the lights are a great addition!
Your list is such a good one! We have several of those items on our to-do list as well!
Our elf appeared 12/1 and I LOVE that Marcus actually *gets* it this year.

Can you believe itβs December? Wow! That happened so fast. I didnβt get to start our Elf on the Shelf until December 2nd due to a crazy travel schedule. I always have so much fun with it. Do you only move the elf each day? Or are there fun and silly antics? I love to hear how everyone uses the Elf on the Shelf. That picture of Waverly on the table kissing Avalon melts me. Sweet sisters! Your list sounds like so much fun!!
