It’s so funny for me to share anything about hair because when I was younger, my hair was definitely the thing I liked least about myself. I wanted to look like everyone else, to the point that I highlighted it so much during high school that looking back on my senior pictures, my hair was pretty much blonde. My parents always told me & my sister that we would love it one day (when I was a brat, complaining about getting it passed down to me, god help me when I have teenage girls … ). It’s now one of my best assets and I hope I can raise my girls to embrace every little part of themselves, the parts of us that are different and unique are also the most beautiful.

These days, I get my hair done every couple months or so, just a quick trim with long layers. I haven’t gotten it highlighted or colored since those high school days, which saves a lot of money!! It’s naturally pretty straight, but so THICK, which I know is a good thing but is such a pain when it comes to blow-drying. I try to extend a wash for as long as I can, I just don’t have the time to wash it everyday like I used to!! ๐ I have found that dry shampoo works really well for that.
For styling, I feel best when my hair has some sort of volume and wave to it, so most days I use a curling iron. My favorite is a one & a half inch, I have used smaller and bigger, but like the loose curl look that this size gives. I always break it up into three sections, which takes longer, if I had less thick hair I would probably try to get away with two! The tutorial that I have used forever I got here, forever grateful for this video because I use it on the daily now!!! ๐ It’s pretty simple and very easy, both things super important for a working mama of two.
For product, I have always been a believer that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on good hair products. There are just too many good, affordable options out there, including one of my favorite, Suave, whose products are proven to work as well as luxury brands! I recently started using one of Suave’s new lines for 2016, the coconut oil infusion line (which comes with a shampoo, conditioner, & treatment). This line delivers lightweight moisture without weighing hair down, which is super important for me with such thick hair already!! The three steps combined are proven to visibly repair up to two years of damage.

Visit your local Walmart to try out all of the new 2016 Suave Professionals collections: Coconut Oil Infusion, Coconut Milk Infusion, and Biotin Infusion, all while supplies last! And if you have any hair tips of your own, please share below, I would love to hear.

I'm so glad you stopped coloring your hair! People pay big bucks to try and get color just like yours! ๐
