From the Cutting Room Floor: Summer Edition

As ready as we are for fall and all that comes with it, saying farewell to summer 2016 is definitely bittersweet.  The past few months have been so good, I never want to forget the memories we have made and how we have watched our precious girls grow all too quickly, but in the best way possible.  We have spent most of our days with some sort of water activity, even if we had to get creative in our backyard to do it, and ate more popsicles than we could count.  Waverly & Avalon got closer than ever, quite literally at moments, and their ever evolving sisterhood continues to be something I will always cherish.  We wore bathing suits more than clothes, and bare feet more than shoes.  Waverly learned to go under water and Avalon learned to walk.  Then run. 🙂  We did our weekly dance class, the waterpark at least twice a week, and counted down the moment until daddy came home every single day.  We had tantrums and tears, sometimes from all of us, and then laughs to make up for it ten times over.

Sharing some pictures that I never shared here on the blog, looking at these just makes my heart all kinds of full.  I laughed this weekend when both girls slept until 7:15 and my husband said, “doesn’t it feel good to sleep in?”.  Yes, quarter after seven is considered sleeping in these days and these little ladies are alllll worth it.  I can never say it enough, these are the days, my friends!

Wishing you and yours a very happy Monday!
XO

From the Cutting Room Floor: Summer Edition

I was looking through (the insane amount of) my pictures the other night, something I find myself doing often!  It never fails, 6pm hits & I am so exhuasted all I can think about is sleep.  I make the mental note to go to bed at 7:05, five minutes after Waverly goes to sleep.  Then, that time actually comes & I start looking at pictures of our day, all I want to do is go jump in Waverly’s crib to snuggle with her all night.  I miss her so much!  Tell me I’m not the only one this happens to. 🙂

So I thought it would be fun to share some of the pictures I never got a chance to from our summer.  I’m not sure if it was all the extra time that we got to spend together or just our love of summer activities, but I took a lot of pictures the past few months.  Looking at them makes me so happy, I love that we will have these memories to look back on forever!

The last two are from that time I had the bright idea to take a family walk on the beach a couple weeks ago.  All three of us were fully dressed & not one of us had a bathing suit on.  We had been down there two seconds & Waverly started sprinting to the water, jumped in & thought it was about the funniest thing ever.  We obviously had to jump in after her.  Summer memories. 😉
I’m always so flattered when I get compliments on my pictures, I never cared much about photography before I had Waverly but obviously can’t get enough of it now!  For those who have asked, I have a Canon Rebel camera & use Lightroom to edit my pictures.  I do take lots of pictures, but feel like I am always conflicted between “in” the moment or capturing photos of it.  So most often, I try to get a few shots right at the beginning of whatever we are doing & then make a point to put it away.  Also, almost all of my favorite pictures of Waverly are candid ones, moments that she was really being herself & doing the things she loves the most (which includes jumping in the water, fully clothed or not!).
Happy weekend to you all!
XO

Love these! I have been contemplating buying Lightroom, and I think you have sold me on it!

  2. September 5, 2014 / 1:29 pm

These are beautiful!! You do take great pictures!! (And your subject is pretty darn cute, too!!)

We have had many nights where we thought a walk on the beach was a good idea…we still haven't learned to bring a change of clothes, because there's no way Cameron isn't going in the water!!

  3. September 5, 2014 / 2:33 pm

i often feel the same way about being in the moment and behind the camera.
i know waverly will be really thankful for these pictures. when my son was about 2.5 he decided he didn't want any more pictures. now i have to sneak 🙂

  4. September 5, 2014 / 4:42 pm

oh my goodness! those pictures are precious! she is ridiculously cute…and I can't hardly stand the slip-n-slide photos! she's a pro!

  5. September 5, 2014 / 6:07 pm

Love it! So glad you guys had such a great summer! I wish we could have done all of those things this summer but it wasn't in our cards due to my pregnancy! Hoping for a better summer next year! And I am the same way with photos. I am ALWAYS capturing the moment but also living in it. I only pull my camera out at the beginning of things and then it goes right back in my purse unless something amazing/adorable/priceless happens! Hope you guys have a great weekend!

  6. September 5, 2014 / 7:41 pm

Loving all the pictures!! What a FUN Summer!! xoxo

  7. September 5, 2014 / 7:44 pm

Oh I LOVE these!! Waverly's had in the first 2 photos… dying! I want one in my size, ha ha! But I suppose Mia's size will do as well 😉
Anytime Mia sees water she is diving in whether she's fully clothed, or not 😉

  8. September 5, 2014 / 8:14 pm

I'm the same! Can't wait til bedtime/naptime and then I'm like aww….I miss her.

I keep meaning to do a post like this! I really need to put together a summer highlight reel 🙂 We really had an amazing one.

  9. September 5, 2014 / 10:30 pm

She is too cute… And yes, your photos are always great !

  10. September 6, 2014 / 12:02 am

We have that same leopard Gap swimsuit–where did you get that hat that matches so perfectly.

  11. September 6, 2014 / 2:19 am

She is such a doll!! Seriously could she be any cuter?!

  12. September 6, 2014 / 4:27 am

So know what you mean about trying to enjoy the sweet moments, yet still capture memories on camera!

  13. September 6, 2014 / 1:21 pm

These pictures captured everything about summer! And her swimsuit collection I seriously envy! I know what you mean about constantly missing her – I often wonder if I'm crazy when other parents are counting down the minutes to bedtime and the minute I put the girls to bed I miss them like crazy. I always feel like I can never get enough time with them (and as you know working full time doesn't help!) Hope school is going good for you!! xo

  14. September 6, 2014 / 11:53 pm

Photos are great! You really did capture so much in each of them – joy and memories!

  15. September 8, 2014 / 4:32 am

The slip n slide pics!! The best. Absolutely. And your photos are always so beautiful! I cringe a little bit to look back at the ones from Aria's birth. Terrible. Praise the Lord I've gotten at least a little better.

  16. September 8, 2014 / 4:47 am

You have the MOST amazing photos!!!! Seriously, I can't believe you taught yourself how to do this. Please, teach me!!! I feel like my photos are awful and I don't know how to edit them (nor do I really have time lol). What is Lightroom? An app? Teach me your ways! xox

  17. September 10, 2014 / 6:08 pm

Love it – you do take great pictures!! Very good point about enjoying the moment as well though. 🙂 I'm sure you end up with LOTS of pictures, do you have a secret to organizing, storing, and printing/publishing (as far as baby books, etc.)? I find myself having too many adorable pictures that then just sit on my computer as I just don't make prints any more..

  18. September 10, 2014 / 9:16 pm

Nope, you're not the only one that happens to! We're always looking at pictures of Ezzy after he's asleep and then hoping he'll wake back up for one more cuddle. And those slip and slide pics! Waverly is a pro! There's no fear in that girl 🙂
