Fourth of July Link-Up & It’s The Little Things

First, thank you for so many sweet comments on my new blog design & also, for understanding my need to take a break from last week’s #littlethingslinkup.  I am so excited to be back this week with TWO link-ups, starting with the Fourth of July Recipe Exchange I participated in with some lovely ladies (see post here).

I’ve said it before, I don’t claim to be any sort of a good cook.  Yet I do love food & most of all, themed food for any & every holiday.  It somehow makes the day feel that much more special.  We especially love a good breakfast celebration at our house, since we don’t get to eat it together during the week.  So I was super excited (& a little intimidated) to be paired with Kristen to make her red, white & blueberry muffins.

The recipe (found here) had a few more steps than my mini-chef & I are used to (we tend to go with Betty Crocker).  About halfway through our baking date, Waverly got so excited that she said “hooray” & threw some flour in the air, she looked straight up only for it to land all over her face & in her eyes.  Her excitement certainly ended there, it took about ten minutes to get her back to normal & then naturally, I attempted to open the vanilla but instead, it burst & went everywhere.
Sweet holiday memories. 😉

Ultiimately, they were WELL-worth it, we really did have the best time making them & they were delicious!  One of Waverly’s favorite foods lately are “uffins”, so they were perfect to kick off our Fourth of July.  Thanks so very much to Kristen for sharing & to Alyssa for hosting this link-up. 🙂
We are about one month into my summer break & I have decided that in the past four weeks, Waverly has matured more than ever.  I’m not sure if it’s all the extra time I am getting to spend with her, or that she is this much closer to two, but she blows my mind on a daily basis.  She constantly cracks me up with what she comes up with, yesterday I sneezed & she said “bless you”, then a few hours later, she called my husband “honey”.  Lately each time I go in to get her from her nap, she lets me know she needs some alone time by saying “mama, go away & please shut the door”, only to talk to herself & her babies for the next twenty minutes.
Also, my sister-in-law recently passed on a baby stroller to her, she had one before but this one is much bigger & she is obsessed!  It has brought Waverly’s love of her babies to an entirely new level, she likes to lay “Kyla” down (we don’t know a Kyla, but every single baby is named Kyla), with her bottle & all of her pacifiers laid next to her.  She also has to give the baby a blankie & covers her completely, even though I keep telling her that she really should let the baby breathe. 😉  We take the entire crew on multiple walks down the street a day, there really is no bigger reality check that your baby is turning into a little girl than walking next to her while she pushes a stroller down the street.  She is the best. 🙂

We hope that you all are having the best week, you know the deal for the “littlethingslinkup” (see this post if you need more details)!  Please email me at akwright@vbschools.com or Jess at jess@sadieskyboutique if you are interested in hosting a giveaway in the future!
XO

Oh my word! Waverly is just the sweetest little nugget, and her outfits! I die! Those muffins look so yummy!

Scarlett has a baby stroller and she's always wanting to walk around the block with it, I had to get sneaky though and find routes that take us to our back door because she tantrums any time she realizes we are heading back home (to the front door) which leaves me carrying her (while kicking and screaming) and the baby stroller! HA ha! toddlers…

OMG! Charli's new thing to say is honey also! hahahaha!! I guess I never realized it, but that is all I call both Steven and Charli, and a few weeks ago I was listening to her play with her doll house and she kept saying "hi honey", "honey I'm home". hahaha! So now she says honey to both of us as well! She cracks me up!

Those muffins look wonderful. And yes, my almost two year old loves her stroller. SO much so, she sort of broke it 🙁
