It’s official. Waverly Maye is a fan of Fourth of July, just like her momma. Gotta love that sweet American baby.
Just as planned, we spent the day celebrating our great country & the highlight to summer. There is not much better than grilled food & friends, festive drinks, and seasonable warm weather.
Clearly, we had no shortage of red, white & blue during our holiday festivities. (Seriously, I love the color combo so much that I would have had it as the colors of my wedding if socially acceptable.) Waverly was happy to rock it all day long & even though several outfit changes, was proud and patriotic as they come. That is, until about halfway through cookout #2, when our sweet sparkler decided she didn’t care if it was America’s birthday or not.
GOD BLESS AMERICA, Waverly got her second wind just in time for the fireworks. And she couldn’t have loved them more. Watching her wide eyes attempt to figure out the bright lights in the sky just reconfirmed my thoughts on how kids make the holidays SO much cooler.
Seriously, watching her throw that left hand up in the air in pure joy made fireworks go off in my own heart. It was the first year in my history of Independence Days that I didn’t even glance at the show. I couldn’t take my eyes off of Waverly Maye.
Hope you had a wonderful Fourth & are enjoying a long weekend.
XOXO
