Five on Friday

HIGH-FIVE for Friday!!!
Waverly Maye & I are so excited for this one, it kicks off a much-needed vacation with LOTS of fun family time & togetherness. πŸ™‚

With Christmas Eve FOUR days away, there is lots of fun & excitement to share!  I could probably change this week to a “fifteen on friday,” but we will stick to the five. πŸ™‚  Here they are …

ONE:  Traditions.  I love a tradition anytime of year & just like my mom, plan to instill lots with my own family.  There is obviously no better time than the holidays!!  I’ve mentioned our “elves” before & now it’s official, they have visited our house each morning since Tuesday.  Each day, those sweet little elves leave Waverly Maye a small gift & poem.

They will come until Christmas Eve, when they will bring my girl her brand new holiday PJs to wear that night.  So far, it seems that Waverly is interested in anything else besides unwrapping presents this holiday season. Yet I’m hoping this gets her warmed up for the real deal. πŸ™‚

TWO:   Homemade Gifts.  Each year, my mom & I look forward to making loads of baked goods for all those special people who make our everyday easier.  You know, the mailman, co-workers, neighbors … & this year, Waverly Maye’s teachers!!  Since the chocolate-covered pretzels were such a hit at our house, I decided to go with those.  To make them festive & fun, I put them in mason jars, spray-painted the tops red & wrapped with tulle.

Because who doesn’t love a mason jar & tulle combo?!  No one I know. πŸ™‚

THREE:  Speaking of baking, check out my baking buddy!!  I’m sure I have never had a cuter one.

My mom got Waverly this apron from the bins at Target AND me a matching one!  Seriously, baking has never been this fun!  Or this messy, but it was worth it.

FOUR:  Kraft Paper.  I am so relieved that our presents have been purchased & wrapped with love in my favorite, kraft paper!  I have a total obsession with it & pretty much wrap every present I ever give with it.  It can be dressed up with fun ribbons, bows & tags for any occasion or any person you are gifting!   I also love the fact that all of the presents under the tree match & have to admit that my OCD personality wouldn’t have it any other way.  Anyone with me?!

FIVE:  Festive Fashions.  With only five days until Christmas, you better bet we are packing as many themed ensembles as possible!

I just love my redhead in red & even better, a chunky necklace that just screams Christmas-time!  I can’t wait to share her snazzy little holiday dress we are saving for the big day on Wednesday!!

We wish everyone the HAPPIEST of holidays, from our family to yours! And thanks as always to Darci, Natasha & the rest of the ladies for this weekly link-up.
XOXO

I'm a teacher and I love your mason jar idea!! So adorable!! I just bought some Mason (plastic) tumblers from Wal-Mart the other day. I normally loathe Wal-Mart, so those were a score! πŸ™‚

Five on Friday

 TGIF
Linking up to share five fabulous facts/finds in the world of Waverly Maye & family. πŸ™‚

ONE – I definitely have a little free spirit, bohemian vibe in my overall sense of style.  Which means that at least for now, Waverly does, too.

Nothing says bohemian quite like a good feather, right?!  And this headband full of them, I can’t get enough!  I realize that it is a little crazy & over the top, but my little lady manages to pull it off.  I think the “feeling of the feathers” made her feel closer to nature, she was seriously rolling in the grass & having the best time ever.

TWO – She may be a total outdoor girl, but rest assured, Waverly Maye is a little lady.  Over the past week, she has taken a sudden interest in her baby dolls.  She holds them, rubs their backs, kisses their foreheads, strolls them …. and my heart MELTS.  Between that & her continued obsession with putting on necklaces herself, I might just burst from excitement over being blessed with this little girl.

THREE – Thanks to a past Five on Friday, I decided to set up Waverly her own personal email this week. There are SO many things that I want to share with her one day, especially now that she is getting older & her personality is evolving more & more.  I don’t want to forget a thing, and while I obviously have the blog for her to look back on, her own email just feels so much more personal.  Besides, I really have enough to say about her that I could probably post a page a day, but I don’t want to come off as completely obsessed.

FOUR – Other than snapping photos & living in a Waverly world this week, I actually have gone to work!  I really do think I have some of the best students I have ever had this year, and they have made my time away from my girl so much easier to handle.  I even got the cutest package from one of my senior’s parents this year, with a “good luck this year” card.

As a high school teacher going on 9 years, this was a first.
Note to self:  Send Waverly Maye’s high school teachers something, even small, they will so appreciate it!

FIVE – This weekend will be a GIRLS weekend.  My husband is going out of town to see a friend & pick up some materials for a house project (post to come).  We will miss him & family time, but are super excited for GIRL fun!  Maybe dolls & necklaces will be the mix?!

Enjoy your weekend!
XOXO
