Five on Friday

Happiest Friday, ladies!  We are knee deep in holiday excitement our way & loving the fact that there is LOTS to love out there right now!  Here are our FIVE:
1.  I hated pulling all the Halloween decor down over the weekend, but felt much better when we got to replace it with some fun Thanksgiving festiveness!  We kept out our burlap pumpkins & switched out our Halloween banner for this Thanksgiving one!  It’s a recent find from TJ Maxx, which has been killing it in the decor section lately.

2.  It’s official, we have pulled our crock-pot back out for the next couple of seasons.  I am ALL about some crock-pot cooking, so easy & ready when we get home from the day, yes, please!!  This week we made our go-to chicken recipe, which is completely fool-proof.  Just throw in a couple chicken breasts, a can of cream of chicken soup, potatoes, carrots, & onions to cook on high all day.  We add a can of green beans about an hour before we eat & usually serve over rice.  Waverly loves it too, which is an added bonus! 🙂
3.  I am drooling over Target’s Christmas decor line (as usual), all of the golds are speaking my decor language!!  I picked up this pillow & a gold garland, I can’t wait to use them in just a few short weeks.

4.  The weather has been so up & down lately that we literally can’t keep up, both Waverly & I are battling colds because of it.  The good news is that it was warm long enough for Waverly to wear this corduroy jumper, so much cuteness!!  I’m just not ready to cover those legs up quite yet.

5.  Does anyone else get super excited about Christmas music & commercials already?!  I know it may be too early, but nothing beats walking in the mall listening to holiday tunes.  My all-time favorite is Santa Baby, so excited that Waverly will be able to sing it with me this year!
Cheers to the weekend, we have a rehearsal dinner tonight & a wedding tomorrow, complete with a babysitter!!  So excited for some adult time with the hubs.  Wishing you all a very, very happy one!
Thanks to April & the ladies of this link-up!  XO

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, everyone!!  I am beyond excited that the ladies have brought this weekly link-up back, random lists are my my favorite & perfect for this time of year. 🙂
ONE.  We took Waverly Maye for our first pumpkin patch visit of the season last weekend!  There are so many in our area but we decided to kick off the fun at a farm that has free hayrides, tee-pees, animals, & a bounce house.  Waverly loved it, specifically the bounce house, so much so that we didn’t get any real time with the pumpkins like, at all.  We had the best time though, we did manage to get her to check out the hay & plan to continue the fun with another one this weekend.  One that doesn’t have a bounce house. 😉
TWO.  I saw these ballet flats on Little Baby Garvin a few weeks back & couldn’t resist them, I am always looking for a good flat that is super comfortable.  They are even better than I expected in person, so comfy (kind of like walking on air!), & I get compliments every time I wear them.  Such a great purchase!
THREE.  For the most part, potty training is going well, as long as we are at home. 😉  Waverly is all about going potty pretty much just to get her treats afterwards, she tries to play me all the time by walking in the bathroom, pretending to pee & then yelling “yay!” before she comes to tell me she needs her treat.  Smart girl.  We have switched to fall m&m’s, I also added them to our canister to make a fun fall snack mix!
FOUR.  In other treat news, I should have known this was coming, Waverly fell in love with ice cream over the summer (like her mama) & there is no turning back.  I’m still rolling with it since it really isn’t cold yet at all, plus we added Halloween sprinkles to make it an acceptable fall treat.  She took hers & mine, too.
FIVE.  We had the biggest breakthrough ever this week, we found a nightlight that Waverly loves & it has been a life-changer!  After two weeks of brutal nights because of one little lady scared of the dark, it looks like we have finally turned a corner.  The entire house is thrilled! 🙂  The nightlight can be found here, we definitely recommend it, I’m planning to share some of Waverly’s new room soon & will share that, too!
Thanks to Natasha & the ladies for hosting.  Wishing you all a happy & fun weekend!
XO

I think that a bounce house at a pumpkin patch is the best idea ever! I can never get Cam out of them!! I am so glad you found something to help everyone sleep!! We have always had Cam's room pitch black, so when we bought a video monitor, the tiny light on it freaked him out….luckily, he's fine now, but I was afraid that we would have to build a room with no windows for him in the new house!

  2. October 10, 2014 / 12:36 pm

Love the ice cream picture!! And the pumpkin patch one is super cute too, great shots 🙂

  3. October 10, 2014 / 1:13 pm

You are so lucky that you have so many pumpkin patches in your area! We took Mia to our one and only earlier this week, and it was SO fun! I can't wait to post about it! And I kind of wish we could go to more, ha ha!
If you ask us, ice cream is acceptable year 'round!! 😉

  4. October 10, 2014 / 1:46 pm

Cutest nightlight ever! We have one too and i love the sweet night sky!! And those flats!! Oh so so so cute!

  5. October 10, 2014 / 1:48 pm

I mean, really, who doesn't want treats? Like all the time. I don't let A try to go potty unless she initiates it. I don't want to give her a treat (candy) because she turns 180 degrees when she has sugar. Maybe I can make her something? Or switch to a sugar free item? I don't know. Haha. I'm rambling in your comments. Let's just say, I'm keeping up with the Friday theme 😉

  6. October 10, 2014 / 2:47 pm

We have an icecream lover too! I once bought us a cone to share at the zoo, and he now thinks that every time we go to the zoo, we get icecream! I can't blame him!

I wish a night light would help our big girl bed transitioning!!! If she can see us, she wants us but I LOVE that nightlight and those flats!

  8. October 10, 2014 / 5:00 pm

What a cute little nightlight! I'm glad she's doing better sleeping with a little bit of light in her room -and I'm sure you and your hubby are both very relieved! 🙂 Enjoy your weekend at another pumpkin patch!

  9. October 10, 2014 / 6:11 pm

SO glad you solved the nightly issue! Phew! I was feeling for ya! I can't wit to visit the pumpkin patch! We are headed there next week for Charli's first school field trip!! Hope you guys have a lovely weekend!

  10. October 10, 2014 / 7:25 pm

Elyse is definitely an ice cream lover…which is why we don't eat it at home unless she's in bed! ha! That nightlight is adorable…but can I ask…how did you know it was fear of the dark? Elyse is having little bit of a sleep transition and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. She goes to sleep just fine in the dark so I don't think that's it…but I'm wondering if she's scared when she wakes up in the middle of the night!

  11. October 10, 2014 / 7:48 pm

The potty fakeout just kills me! What a smarty!!! And I'm trying to convince my husband that Arden NEEDS those Minnetonka boots as a big sister present. Sounds logical to me! 😉 Love the ice cream pic too!!! Have a great weekend with that little cutie!

  12. October 10, 2014 / 8:59 pm

We're still all about the ice cream over here. It's a habit I think I'm encouraging way too much, but I love ice cream. I suggest it more than Reed does.

  13. October 13, 2014 / 4:54 am

Oh my gosh, too cute! Love the potty fake out (smart girl!!) and love the ice cream stealing (again, so smart!). She is just the cutest! Hope you had a great time at pumpkin patch #2!

  14. October 27, 2014 / 4:18 pm

I love random posts, too! And Five on Friday. I love pumpkin patches that are on a farm! SO much do to do and so fun. Love that picture of her on the hay and her outfit…does that come in big sizes? SO adorable!

Five on Friday

Happy May & Happy Friday!!  Hope some sunshine is starting to head your way & ours too, it literally started raining here on Monday & we are still waiting for it to stop.  We made the best of it though, by rocking our rain boots & playing in the puddles.  Waverly became obsessed with putting leaves in her belly button, a memorable moment for sure & no doubt, our neighbors are really starting to think we have lost our minds.
Time for our weekly FIVE, thanks to Darci & the ladies for hosting!
ONE:  I obviously love Waverly Maye in a headband & lately, she is even is more all about them than I am.  If it falls off, she says “uh-oh” & motions to me to put it back on (or to her daddy, which is even better, I still love that manly-man wrapping headbands around his daughter’s head).
I picked up a bunch of headbands from my talented friend Jess of Sadie Sky Boutique to add to Waverly’s Easter basket.  Since then, she has been rocking them pretty much daily & we are obsessed!!  This floral wrap one may just be our fave, the print is perfect for spring (& so is ice cream). 🙂

TWO:  I ordered a pair of Converse this week, I used to be strictly a heels kind of lady but being a mom changes everything. 😉  I’m all about flats these days for all that running after Waverly I do, & I’m not going to lie, I’m really excited to embrace my sporty side once these babies come in.

THREE:  Is anyone else as obsessed with gift wrap as I am?!  I almost love wrapping a present in pretty packaging as much as I love picking it out.  I’m going to a bridal shower this weekend & picked up one of the Spritz bags from Target to put it in, best line ever!

FOUR:  We had family pictures last weekend because we already didn’t have enough of us, right?! 😉  Waverly is growing so fast & I couldn’t resist a few for spring, she wore this dress & I couldn’t have loved it more.  Floral print is always a favorite of mine & the color was just perfect for this time of year.  Can’t wait to share soon!

FIVE:  I have been loving popcorn lately for a low-cal, easy snack in the afternoons.  So with Cinco De Mayo coming up on Monday, we decided to get festive a little early with a batch of Chili Lime Popcorn (click link for recipe).  I am so excited to pair this with a margarita on Monday, what better way to kick off the week?!

And I have to share, this week Waverly either let me know that she is very ready for potty training or the exact opposite.  I haven’t decided which.  She handed me a diaper while repeating “diapa”, something she has been doing for a while now.  Yet when I tried to put it on, she said “no, mama” & wanted to do it herself.  So there she was, desperately trying to put her own diaper on while laying flat on the floor.  Something I’m sure I couldn’t even do on my own while laying down (& that I really, really hope I never have to).  She got really fancy & added a wipe (while repeating “cold”), & when she really gave up on successfully getting the diaper on, resorted to putting one on her baby.  We must have put ten diapers on that baby doll.  I must admit she was damn good at it & even so polite that if she made a mistake, she told the baby “I sorry”. 🙂  Oh, how I love her & this age so very much.

Happy, happy weekend to you all!
XOXO

  10. May 2, 2014 / 5:40 pm

'I sorry' oh that is just way too cute! And, way too funny that she tried to put one on herself. Aria can do a mean tab ripping, but beyond that she hasn't tried. Kids!

  15. May 2, 2014 / 7:34 pm

We've been on a popcorn kick over here too! Myles loves watching it cook in the microwave and then yells "poppy" nonstop for the next 15 minutes before we devour it all. This morning when he woke up he even requested it… popcorn for breakfast.. why not!?!?

  16. May 2, 2014 / 7:49 pm

Oh my word! The diaper incident is just tooooo precious! Sounds like she could be getting close to potty training! I wish I could fit Converse well, but I've basically lived in my Toms since becoming a mom. Total comfy mom-shoes! And Waverly's Zara dress is beautiful!

    xx Viv at JoieDeViv

  19. May 3, 2014 / 12:32 am

I dream of potty training and dread it all at the same time. My LO has NO interest whatsoever, so good for Waverly for taking initiative!

  20. May 3, 2014 / 2:02 am

Cute as always! And I've been loving lime popcorn lately too!

  21. May 3, 2014 / 1:50 pm

Five on Friday

Happiest Friday, girls!  It’s been way too long since I’ve posted for this link-up with Darci & the rest of the sweet ladies, it feels so good to be back!!  With the change in seasons & a few days of warmer weather, there is lots to love right now.  Here are FIVE of my favorites!

ONE:  I never shy from a print in fashion & am always looking for new, creative ones for Waverly & I both.  Right now I am loving all of these “fruit” screenprinted sweatshirts, tees & dresses that are popping up everywhere.  They are so much fun & perfect for the warmer weather.  Waverly loves strawberries & with her hair color, this was one I couldn’t resist.

I also have to point out that I am kind of dying inside over Waverly’s hair in pigtails lately.  Her hair is getting longer by the day & the sight of her sweet face in these growing piggies is one I am sure I have been dreaming of since I found out she was a girl.
TWO:  I don’t claim to know much about make-up or how to apply it that well, but lip glosses & sticks I can handle.  I love updating my neutral make-up routine with a new lipstick each season & right now I am loving this pure zen color!!  It’s the perfect shade of peach without being completely over the top, so it’s great for the everyday.  Did you ladies know you can get a free lipstick at the MAC counter for taking back 6 used MAC packages?!  It’s seriously free & that seriously makes me happy every time. 🙂
THREE:  Keeping with the fruit theme, my husband, Waverly & I recently had a baking date to make this banana bread.  It was oh so delicious, if only it was as healthy & low-cal as snacking on a straight-up banana would be. 😉  We used a family recipe, you can find a similar recipe here.
FOUR:  Oh Joy Line.  This new line at Target speaks my language, the colors are so perfect for spring, Easter & for entertaining in the months to come!  I am basically obsessed & could find a reason to buy it all.  Something tells me my husband wouldn’t agree with my (very practical) reasons for every single piece, so I had to settle on the ice bucket & cake platter
For now. 😉
FIVE:  Cora from Ren & Boots recently was our giveaway for the #littlethingslinkup, she also was so sweet to send me a personalized print for Waverly’s room!!  I could not wait to frame it & put that baby right on her big armoire, it is just so precious, delicate, & the best way to display her birth-date.
Check out her shop here for other super cute prints, too!
The forecast calls for a beautiful spring weekend full of sunshine & we couldn’t be more excited!!  Warm weather wishes your way too, enjoy this weekend with those that you love. 🙂
XOXO

I miss What Waverly Wore! I think you should bring it back! Or just take a daily picture – Her outfits are so over the top, and as the mom to two girls (2 & 5) I love it 🙂

    • April 7, 2014 / 12:13 pm

Haha, thanks! I probably take too many pictures of her … I will definitely share more soon! XO

  20. April 4, 2014 / 11:13 pm

That little strawberry shirt is perfect on Waverly! And her pigtails are precious – I'd be obsessed too:) I saw that Oh Joy line at Target, and had to peel myself away before I bought every darn thing in the collection. The cake stand is adorable! Have a good weekend:)

  21. April 5, 2014 / 1:39 am

    Enjoy your spring weather weekend!!

I love her hair in pigtails. I am so looking forward to doing anything with Aria's hair. It just isn't long enough in enough places to put up even in the tiniest of ponies. Sigh. And, that strawberry print is perfection!

  22. April 5, 2014 / 2:19 am

How cute is it that yall all three had a baking date together?! So sweet!! Love that cake platter and Little Miss is just way too cute! Have a happy Friday!

I just posted about a banana bread that I love to make too! Great minds think alike 🙂 Happy weekend!

  25. April 7, 2014 / 4:03 am

Her strawberry shirt! 🙂 Oh, and reading about banana bread at midnight is probably not the best idea for a pregnant girl! 😉

Haha, I bet!!! At least you have an excuse. 😉 Growing a baby BOY in there!!

Five on Friday

Happy ONE WEEK until Valentines Day!  We couldn’t be more ready to celebrate this year, & the fact that it falls on a Friday … well that’s just the icing on top of the pink frosted cake. 🙂

Here are my FIVE, they are extra-sweet this week!

1.  Heart-Shapes.  Are you sick of hearing me say the word hearts yet?!  We LOVE them, can’t get enough & have to confess that if Waverly Maye has a little brother one day, he will be rocking some hearts, too. 🙂

Heart Dress (Old Navy; In-Store)

Waverly’s heart dress is definitely a keeper, but this gold headband is one of my favorite ones she has ever worn.  And she has worn a lot of headbands.  Thank you to Willow Crowns for this lovely gem, we are planning to get lots of use out of it all year!

2.  Flowers.  Just in time for Valentines Day, my husband has put his bad-ass talent to use again!  He actually made me a different version of these metal flowers before, but then we decided to sell them to make extra money for a down payment on our house.  I am SO very excited to have them back & love them so much, almost as much as I love him for making them for me!
The best part, these flowers never die & you don’t have to water them.  Win, win!
3.  Target Valetines Decor.  The rest of my Valentines decor can be found at the end-cap of the seasonal decor aisle at Target.  Seriously, I don’t know how they do it … but they just keep getting better & better!  Recently, I picked up several garlands, the cutest little felt fox you ever did see, & my favorite, these LOVE letters (found in-store).
I really have decided that I never want to take all this girly decor down, it is making me feel like I’m in college again (just with a better place to live this time!).
4.  DIY Valentines Crayons.  I really don’t attempt a Pinterest project unless it seems like the average person can handle it, this one fit the criteria & I will totally do it again.  Waverly has been using her crayons all week (well, for a couple of minutes each day).  They really are the cutest & so perfect for this time of year!!
5.  Valentines Goodies.  You know it’s not an official holiday without some festive little goodies for my favorite lady!  I really try not to go overboard & to get things she will actually use.  This year, her basket will be filled with some bubbles, necklaces a Valentines board book & a new puzzle.  ALL of which are some of her favorite things to do right now & all of which warm my mama heart.
We wish all of you the very best weekend with those you love!  Thanks again to Darci, April & the ladies of this lovely link-up. 🙂
XOXO

Target has somehow managed to get it right every single year. I don't know how they do it! All my decor is from there! I picked up blocks from their dollar spot last year that say "hugs" and "xoxo". Too cute!

I'm loving Waverly's heart dress, I saw it recently at Old Navy and almost picked it up, but like you we have plenty of hearts in her wardrobe right now so I held back. She looks adorable in it!!

  15. February 7, 2014 / 4:33 pm

  16. February 7, 2014 / 5:24 pm

So sweet. If you added a hint of green to her outfit, I would buy everything! Those are the colors of Notre Dame and we are die hard fighting Irish fans. 🙂 I am thinking of getting creative this weekend and getting my little one all dressed up for some last minute DIY Valentine's Day cards. My goal this year was to send more snail mail and I think it would be neat to send our friends a little surprise in the mail. Have a great weekend!

love, love, LOVE her heart dress! And it is SO fun having little girls for Valentines Day! We got Mia Monsters Inc movie (she got tons of Monsters Inc toys/books for Christmas, so we thought she'd love the dvd. She doesn't really watch tv/movies, so she probably won't get to watch it for a long time, but she LOVES to carry around dvd cases ha ha!) and a couple of love/Valentine books. Bubbles is a GREAT idea!

  21. February 7, 2014 / 7:28 pm

Love Waverly in her gold leggings! Those roses are so cool! I cannot even imagine how your husband makes those! Share the heart crayon tutorial!

  22. February 7, 2014 / 7:38 pm

I've been hearing all this talk about Target killing it with the valentine décor this year and I'm thinking it's a good thing I've been avoiding that place like the plague! I'd be broke!!

  23. February 7, 2014 / 7:56 pm

I'm dying over those flowers! What a lucky girl for having such a talented husband! I actually have a magnet version I found at a street market years ago and wish I would have gotten more!

Target! I always love their decor. And your babe is looking DARLING!!! AND I'm very much envying those earrings!

  28. February 8, 2014 / 4:01 am

I need to make those crayons! I love her headband (and entire outfit), I wish Avery would keep headbands on her head! We were changing her the other day and found a headband under her shirt, like a bra. So I guess I should say, I wish she would wear them on her head!

  29. February 9, 2014 / 6:12 pm

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you found my blog, because I'm ADORING yours! Your sweet little Waverly is beyond precious- so excited to be your newest follower 🙂

  30. February 9, 2014 / 7:20 pm

So stinking cute! And those flowers rock!! And seriously… Why does Target have to do this to us?! hahaha!

  31. February 10, 2014 / 2:33 am

Waverly is the cutest! I adore anything and everything with hearts! I've had my eye on a white pillow with a big gold heart on it for a while now. I keep trying to convince myself I could make it, but I would first learn how to sew lol. Flowers that don't require to be watered are my kind of flowers. : )

Five on Friday

TGIF
With the craziness of the holidays over the last few weeks, we have spent some time away but it feels so good to be back.  Our life as we know it is slowly returning to normal, & here are FIVE of our favorite things as we kick off 2014!!

ONEOld Navy.  Is it just me, or is Old Navy seriously killing it these days?!  They are always my go-to for affordable classics, but I am loving most of their entire line right now.  Both for me & for Waverly Maye.  I would have gotten this heart & soul sweatshirt regardless, but the fact that they had a matching version for Waverly, there was obviously no way I could resist. 🙂

For the record, I’m not entirely proud of being that mom who dresses like her kid, yet I literally cannot stop myself.
TWOBaskets.  As much as I love the holidays & decorating as much as possible, I always look forward to starting fresh in the new year (almost) just as much.  It really is the perfect time to re-energize & organize, one of my very favorite things to do!  For me, the answer to organization is baskets, lots & lots of baskets. 🙂  They are my weakness & just when I think I can’t possibly fit another one in my house, I find a cute one like this at Target.

Love the white on top & how light & airy it feels!  So perfect for spring, which I am starting to feel more than ready for.  Too early?
THREEVictoria’s Secret Pink Sale.  Another one of my cures to the post-holiday sadness is the yearly pink sale.  I don’t plan on ever being too old for the pink brand, I may even be rocking their sweatpants, thermals & workout wear when I’m 65. 😉   Although their prices are definitely high for casual wear, their annual sale is the perfect time to stock up!!  I scooped up some thermals at half-off last week & have been living in them at home ever since.
FOUR:  Boon Feeding Accesories.  I must admit that while Santa brought Waverly Maye lots of toys, I also took advantage of the opportunity to fill our cabinets with some toddler feeding products we have been in desperate need of.  Might as well do it while I can, right … something tells me I’m totally not going to be able to get away with “useful” gifts in the years to come!  We got this snack tower, snack cup & sippy cup, all three are from Target but are only sold online.  For some reason, their OXO products are not sold in stores?!  Regardless, they are worth the shipping, they are useful & super cute!
FIVENew Years Decor.  My love of garlands is at an all-time high & I really cannot stop myself from having to have one for every holiday.  We are totally getting excited for all things Valentines Day soon, but wanted to give the new year some love for the month of January.  I couldn’t find a garland for the New Year, so I made my own with these glitter letters from Micheals.  I stacked it with a star garland from Target & have felt more than ready for 2014 ever since!!

We hope that the start of this new year is treating everyone so very well, it looks like 2014 is going to be a good one!  Of course, thank you to April, Darci & the rest of the ladies for hosting.
Have the BEST weekend, XO.

  7. January 10, 2014 / 2:13 pm

Old Navy is TOTALLY owning it this year, you are right. I try to secretly dress Mason up like my husband all the time, Chad doesn't even notice it until they are side by side. I can't help it either! Boon toddler stuff is the best. We have a ton of it and the designs are perfect – we love the divider plates! Have a great wekend!

  13. January 10, 2014 / 4:41 pm

I love the matching sweatshirts. I may need to go get the sweatshirt for myself

  14. January 10, 2014 / 4:41 pm

I love Boon products! They are so hard to come by up here, and about twice the price unfortunately.
The pictures of you and Waverly are adorable, love the matching sweaters.

  15. January 10, 2014 / 5:13 pm

I sense a trip to Old Navy this weekend!! 🙂

Love your New Year garland too!!! XO

  22. January 12, 2014 / 12:57 am

You are so right about Old Navy right now! For the past year they have been my go to store for almost anything and the amazing prices only make it better. I love the new year garland you made, so cute!

  23. January 12, 2014 / 3:59 am

Look at how cute you two are…love the matching shirts! And I'm the biggest Boon fan ever! Love every little thing on their site and probably have more than one needs for one kiddo! =)

Old Navy for the win! They’ve had adorable stuff lately. And How cute they had this shirt in Waverly’s size too.

Five on Friday

Happy FRIDAY!
As much fun as I was having with family over the holiday week, I really missed this link-up.
Super excited to be back & to be talking all things CHRISTMAS!
Here are my FIVE.

ONESales.  It’s been exactly one week since Black Friday & less than one since Cyber Monday, & it probably goes without saying that I participated in both.  I couldn’t discriminate against one, damn it, even though my husband & wallet would have disagreed!

I have decided that I have a love-hate relationship with all of these “super-sale days.”  While my love is obvious, these type of things are so beyond dangerous for a shopaholic like me.  And now that I have a shopping sidekick to go with AND to shop for, it’s only harder. 🙂

After some much-needed snacking to fully prepare for battle, Waverly Maye & her Jameson Monroe headband joined me at the mall.  Favorite deals of the weekend were 50% at Gap & Old Navy, 20% off at Asos, 15% off at Land of the Nod & Lightroom Photoshop on sale at Best Buy.    With the exception of Gap & Old Navy, all of the deals are still going on so check them out! (If you dare!)

TWOAdvent Calender.  SUPER excited to start this tradition with Waverly Maye!  Even though she won’t completely understand yet, I am happy to pull a treat or activity each day on her behalf!  I included a mix of fun activities, holiday toddler-friendly candy, & stickers.  In an effort to save money somewhere, I decided to make my own even though I am LOVING this one at Target & this one at Pottery Barn Kids.  I’m thinking I’ll go with mine this year & try to scoop one up after Chrismas on sale for the years to come. 🙂

THREEPretzels.  Made these little gems over the weekend & YUM!

It was so easy that even I did it successfully. 🙂
All you need is pretzels, white chocolate chips & sprinkles. Melt the chocolate at 30-second intervals, mix & cover the pretzels!  Both Waverly AND my husband have eaten so many I had to make a second batch!  I consider that a holiday win AND win.

FOURSanta Sippy Cups.  As always, we love our holiday sippy cups from Target.  Something about seeing Waverly using one while wearing her Christmas red (and listening to Christmas tunes) just makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside.

Other than their sippy cups, Target is killing it these days!  I am dying over their entire holiday collection and would seriously like one of each product in the line.  Please & thank you!

FIVEGiveaway.  I am SO very excited about a giveaway coming up this Monday!  Tis’ the season for giving & I am so grateful to be able to give back to my readers.  Stay tuned. 🙂

Cheers to a fun & festive holiday weekend!!!!  Enjoy it, we only have two more left after this!
Can you believe it?!  Thanks again to Darci & the ladies for the link-up!!

  6. December 6, 2013 / 2:22 pm

Ashley! How great are those festive sippy cups from Target! Mason has the snowman one and it's the best. Those headbands are so adorable… I need to have a baby girl.

  7. December 6, 2013 / 2:56 pm

LOVE the Santa sippy cup. Seen them at Target and I was so tempted to buy one for Savanna even though she won't use it until next year!

  8. December 6, 2013 / 3:15 pm

She is such a doll! And I love those pretzel snacks! Yum!

  9. December 6, 2013 / 4:50 pm

those pretzels sound like a great festive snack/treat!! and I LOVE that Santa sippy cup – will be on my list for The next Target trip! Happy Friday!

  10. December 6, 2013 / 5:37 pm

We bought a santa sippy cup a few weeks ago and it's Sadie's favorite! Chocolate covered pretzels are a hit around here, too. Whenever we have a holiday party I get the big pretzel rods, dip one end/half in chocolate, cover with festive sprinkles and then package them up in clear cellophane bags with ribbon to give as party favors 🙂
Also, so happy for the tip on Photoshop Lightroom! I need a new editing program badly so I'm off to check it out!

    xoxo

Totally need to try those pretzels! So simple, but they look so yummy! I love your shopping sidekick!

  14. December 6, 2013 / 10:27 pm

I keep purposely avoiding the Christmas aisle at Target because I know I'd be walking out of there with 50 million things….but that sippy is so tempting…I know they only have that and more just waiting to be scooped up for Abigail!

  15. December 7, 2013 / 3:04 pm

My mom and I always make those chocolate covered pretzels every year and they never stay in the house very long before my dad and brothers make them disappear

  16. December 7, 2013 / 8:17 pm

    a) she is just…the cutest. I cant take it haha. and b) I need to make these pretzels 🙂

  17. December 7, 2013 / 9:43 pm

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!
Today marks less than three weeks until Thanksgiving & exactly three until one of my very favorite days of the year, BLACK FRIDAY!  Words really can’t describe how much I love this month, November really is one of my absolute favorites!  Here are some of my other FAVES of the moment!

ONEFringe.  Fall & fringe go together like Thanksgiving & turkey, in my opinion.  I am LOVING this trend right now more than ever!  We have stocked up on fringe vests, sweaters, and most importantly, mommy & mini fringe boots.  But this fringe jumpsuit totally takes my fringe fever to another level.

My mom had this handmade for Waverly Maye & I just loved the sight of her in it!  It is super adorable, the fabric is so comfy, & the green is another one of my current faves!  I paired it with this headband by MegMade that I am also loving. So very fall & the liberty flower is an extra bonus. 🙂

TWOLittle-Tikes 2-in-1 Swing.  We got this swing before we bought our new house but wanted to wait until we had our own backyard to hang it in.  It is now four months later & the time has finally come!  Someone is very happy about it.

Wild Waverly doesn’t like to sit still enough to like the swings at our little gym, but she LOVES, LOVES this one.  I think because it is outside & she is such a nature lover.  And my favorite part is when she says “seeeng” to let me know she is ready to get in it.  *I really can never get enough of that sweet baby voice & would like to request that she keep it forever. 🙂

THREEMarine Science Museum.  Honestly, I am usually more of a “mall girl” than a museum one, but I am always on the lookout for fun family activities.  We got year passes to our science musuem last Christmas & used them again this past weekend.  Waverly Maye loved it more than ever before, she was able to interact & understand more now that she is older.

It really was the best time.  And if nothing else, it provided somewhere other than Target for us to get out during the colder weather. 🙂

FOURReeses Pieces Cupcakes.  Found this idea on Pinterest & it was easy, holiday-friendly & really cute.  In other words, pretty much everything I look for in life.

These really have been a fall favorite this week, my hubby loves them & they are ideal for a toddler since there is no icing & therefore, no not nearly as much of a mess as usual.

FIVE Feeling thankful.  As fun as all of this fall fashion & festiveness is, I do have to mention how thankful I am this month in particular.  November is good for that.  More than anything, I am so grateful for this sweet, fun & healthy baby girl.  I feel so incredibly lucky that I was chosen to be her mom & get to be with her every single day.

We hope you all have the best weekend!  Thank you to Darci, Natasha & the ladies for hosting this weekly link-up, XOXO.

  4. November 8, 2013 / 1:22 pm

Love all of your favorites and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who considered a Target outing as an acceptable "activity" to get a toddler out of the house. Bahahahaha

What stores do you typically go to on Black Friday? We used to go, but haven’t since we had Mason. I’m considering getting out there this year! I have to agree on the fringe, love it. And little Miss Waverly looks absolutely precious in her fringe!! And those Reeses cupcakes, WOW! Looks delicious.

Five on Friday

TGIF, friends!  Between the three-day monsoon we have welcomed in VB & the dreary mood it has put on all of my students this week, this one couldn’t have come fast enough!

ONE – I really do hate rain.  It always ruins a perfectly good hair day & our daily walks to the park.  But I do always try to find a little “sunshine” in everything, so in the event of rain, here is ours.

Hunter Rain Boots … for me & my mini, of course.  I usually have a personal shopping rule against spending that much money on one pair of shoes, but since they really don’t go out of style & I really can be rocking them for years to come, I made an exception this time.  And the rationale behind Waverly Maye’s pair?  I’ve got nothing.  Except that she looks pretty damn cute in them.

TWO – Pumpkin Play-dough.  Yea, I have jumped on this festive fall bandwagon.  I am all about a craft, DIY project, & especially anything holiday-related, but have quickly learned that at 14 months, we are just not there yet.  We are lucky if Waverly Maye’s 15-second attention span can sustain a board book.  So I was a little nervous to buy the ingredients & take the time to make my own play-dough … but am happy to report that it was worth the while!

Waverly Maye really did love it … for a total of ten minutes.  And then I stored it in an air-tight container and we have played with it everyday since.  A holiday win in my book. 🙂

THREE – Crayons & Coloring Books.  That super busy, on-the-go toddler I was just referring to?  I am happy to report that this week, I managed to get her to sit still long enough to draw our very first picture together.

Waverly Maye actually sat in my lap to create this work of art & it was such a fun, special time.  I can’t wait for many more drawings together!  I really love coloring all on my own & am thankful to have a child now so that it is more socially acceptable.  And that much more fun, of course.

FOUR – Caramel Apple Cookie Mix.  You know, the kind you buy in the box from Target.  I really do love to bake, as long as the recipe can be read from the back of the box. 🙂  These really are delicious, made the house smell like fall, & yes, I felt pretty damn domestic making them!  One day I will try the real thing but in the meantime, Waverly Maye & my hubby don’t seem to mind.

FIVE – The Zack Brown Band.  Without a doubt, the band that my husband & I love the most.  We have seen them in concert twice & this Saturday will be our third!  A date night out listening to good, relaxing music?!  Please & thank you. 🙂

We hope that everyone had a fabulous week (and aren’t as drenched as we are!).
HAPPY Weekend, XOXO.

Thanks, as always, to Natasha and the ladies for this weekly link-up!

She's such a cutie! I've been debating over whether or not to buy little Hunters for my kids, but I keep getting caught up on the cost. She looks so cute in hers. That justifies the expense for sure. Happy Friday!

AHH! She is adorable and those boots… I will be trying out the pumpkin playdough next week, I think Mason would love it. Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. October 11, 2013 / 12:57 pm

I made that pumpkin spice play-dough and my son spent so much time playing with it. Love anything Caramel Apple and I bought the cake mix at Target a while ago and it was so good. I have a pair of black Hunter boots and wish I had a color. I love the lilac. Thinking I may get my daughter a pair when she is old enough. Enjoy date night.

oh my goodness- the hunter mini boots need no explaining! I love that you are a fashion marketing teacher- that was my major in college (fashion merchandising)! xo

  6. October 11, 2013 / 2:03 pm

LOVE Zac Brown too – we listen to them all of the time. Both of my kids listen to their albums to go to bed, it's funny how they have both loved their music a d calmed down once we turned Zac Broen on. Enjoy the concert and your date night!

  9. October 11, 2013 / 4:24 pm

I truly die when I see children in Hunter rain boots. It's quite possibly the cutest thing ever. I'm pretty obsessed and am already figuring out how the rationale to my husband will go down when I have a child and have purchased the boots. Loved reading your post! – Morgan @ Makeshift Margaritas

Hunter rainboots. Full necessity for babes (and moms)! And we LOVE the Carmel Apple cupcake mix- it's the perfect hint of Carmel Apple goodness. And keeping a toddlers attention spam for 10 minutes? MAJOR WIN!

  12. October 11, 2013 / 8:03 pm

Your little one is darling! You are making me want to spend way to much money on rainboots when I live in a city that's been in a drought for four years!

  13. October 11, 2013 / 9:03 pm

LOVE Hunter boots. Worth every penny. The pumpkin playdough is cool! I haven't heard of that – will definitely have to check that out! Have a great weekend!

  14. October 11, 2013 / 9:15 pm

So fun! The mini Hunters are to die for!

  15. October 12, 2013 / 12:37 am

I am glad the pumpkin play dough went over well! I have it bookmarked for next year. I was rolling out pie dough today so I thought maybe Aria would like to squish the scraps, but she wanted nothing to do with it. Definitely not ready this year.

Love your rainboots picture! Thanks for the idea about the play dough – I had seen it on other blogs, but hadn't thought it would work for my 15-month-old. Maybe so!!

  17. October 12, 2013 / 1:18 am

Those boots…oh my word! So adorable! We just broke out the crayons with Clay too and I had that drawing up on the wall in 2.5 seconds after he finished!

  18. October 12, 2013 / 4:25 am

OH MY GOSH!! Matching boots. DYING. Now I need to convince hubby I need them.

Five on Friday

TGIF!  So very excited to be linking up with some lovely ladies again!  Although honestly, most of my excitement lies in the fact that it’s officially FRIDAY!  That brings me to my #1 …

ONE – I made it through the first week of the school year!  A total accomplishment!  The first week could always be classified as complete crazytown, but this year has definitely been like no other.  Leaving a one-year old Waverly Maye proves been a little harder than before, to say the least.  A few tears have been shed, both from Waverly & from me.  But the good news is that we have made it & our time in the afternoons has been that much more special.

And actually, my students have been pretty great & have made it a little bit easier to leave my girl.  That, and the fact that we get to talk fashion & style all day long.  Sitting on www.instyle.com is my job.  I do it for the kids. 🙂

TWO – It’s an endless summer for us in VB.  It’s still hot as hell out, so we are taking advantage at the beach.  Waverly Maye is a total beach baby.  She LOVES IT … every part of it, sand & waves included.  My crazy child gives me a mild heart attack everytime she takes a bite out of the sand or dunks her head in the water.  I totally blame my husband for all of it, she totally gets it from him.  They are two peas in a pod the sand.

THREE – Just because we are beach people doesn’t mean that we aren’t more than ready for the fall.  The official start of September just makes me all warm & cozy inside.  On the to-do list to get fall ready …. (1) buy as many ankle booties as my bank account will allow, (2) decorate my new mantle with a festive garland, (3) plan Waverly’s Halloween costume (AAAH!), & (4) dress Waverly in baby oxfords & knee high socks.  Everyday.

FOUR – It must be the teacher in me, Waverly & I have been having dates at the library lately.  I am trying my hardest to get her interested in books.  We have an entire four shelves packed with them & I read her at least one a night, but this active little lady definitely doesn’t like to sit still.  For anything.  So little by little, we are getting there and the kids section at our local library has definitely helped.  Especially the fact that it is usually pretty empty and she can run through as she pleases.
I’m trying 🙂

FIVE – My sister-in-law got me this necklace for my 30th, and OMG – I have worn it everyday since and may just wear it everyday for the rest of my life.  I love it, it matches everything, and best of all, it has Waverly’s name right across it.  Even when I am away from my little, she is right with me. Bestill my 30 year-old heart. 🙂

Enjoy your weekend, friends!
XOXO

Yay for making it through the first week back!! I'm sure more ready than ever for the weekend 🙂

Looove the bar necklace! So sweet.

We love our library, too! Especially in the summer, with the toys and story times and summer reading programs. I totally had my son participate even at 11 months old! The necklace is a great keepsake! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  5. September 7, 2013 / 1:19 pm

I'm glad your first week back went so well! Love, love, love that necklace!

  6. September 7, 2013 / 10:43 pm

    Love that necklace! It's awesome.

We're beach people, too. It's still 100ish degrees here in the afternoons and perfect swimming weather. I love it but I am jealous of people having their chilly fall nights!

  7. September 8, 2013 / 12:05 am

How cute are you in your denim romper? That's one thing I can't pull off. At all. I've got a super long torso and anything in the romper or peplum department usually is a big no no for me! Waverly looks cute as usual! She's getting so big! I love your necklace too! I have a sterling and gold one from Hot Mama Designs that's similar and the one necklace I wear ALL the time. It goes with everything and looks great layered with other necklaces…plus I can rock my girl's name to boot! Happy weekends! Xoxo

That necklace is awesome! I think I need one! Your little girl is precious!!!

Five on Friday

I am super excited to be joining up with some lovely ladies for my first FIVE ON FRIDAY  … almost as excited as I am that it actually is Friday, my favorite day of the week. 🙂
I have been loving reading all the fun Friday posts!  Here are five of my own current favorites, although obviously, I could include WAY more than that.

One
Waverly Maye & her ONE-year old self.!  It has been three weeks since that milestone birthday, and I am convinced that these have been the best days of her life so far!  Waverly is now walking so fast that it’s pretty much a run & learning new words by the day.  Her personality, drama & all, is out full force.  I’m pretty much obsessed with everything about this age & this little person that she is becoming before my eyes.

More to come in her official THIRTEEN month post on Monday!
TWO.
Speaking of this one-year old’s birthday … would it be complete without official photos to commemorate the occasion?!  Not in our world.  Even though the girl already has more pictures of her documented than many do in their entire life, I had to seize the opportunity.  We got a sneak peek this week and are so excited!

A cute baby, tee-pee AND a feather headband?  I’m not sure it gets much better than that.
Thank you, Nicole, we can’t wait to see the rest!
Three.
It has now been almost three months since we closed on our house & many of the big projects are completed, so now it’s time to get decorating.  So exciting, I know, but also a little overwhelming.  I can style an outfit with my eyes closed, but for some reason, styling my home is way harder.  And not to mention, a little more expensive.  Can Forever 21 can a home goods line?!  In the meantime, I did get this rug for our living room for $60 and am pretty damn proud of myself for this find.
Four.
Boots for Babies. Fall fashion just happens to be my favorite, mainly because of the return of boots after summer.  And now that Waverly is officially a walker, the possibilities for footwear are even greater.  I can’t wait to see her little feet stomping around in these minnetonkas in the upcoming months.
 Five.
Snuggles & cuddles from my baby girl.  Just as fast as Waverly has become even more mobile, lucky for me, she is showing the sweetest affectionate side. I told my husband that at several different occasions this week, I have closed my eyes to take in the moment because I never wanted to forget it.  She has learned to hug and lean her head into my shoulder AND has been giving kisses non-stop.  When we were on our morning run the other day, she grabbed my hand and wouldn’t let go.  We literally held hands over the stroller for ten minutes.  Motherhood, I tell you … BEST thing ever.
Enjoy your weekend, ladies!
XOXO
