Five on Friday: Christmas Countdown

With exactly ten days until Christmas Eve, it is totally Christmas crunch time & we are full of excitement over here!  My goal this year was to take advantage of every moment, the holidays are such a magical time & with Waverly at this special age, I know life really doesn’t get much better than this. πŸ™‚
The last couple of weeks have been busy, but oh SO much fun!!

Here are FIVE of the Christmas activities we have been getting into lately …

ONEMrs. Claus Storytime.  I obviously frequent our local mall & noticed a sign a couple of weeks ago about some Christmas activities that they were hosting.  Storytime with Mrs. Claus was one of them & I figured this would be the perfect time to ease Waverly into eventually meeting Santa.  Something told me she wouldn’t LOVE him & I think I was right.

The good news is that she didn’t cry.  Yet she clearly was less than impressed & was not at all sure what to think.  Not sure I blame her.

TWO:  Last Friday we went to Christmastown which in my opinion, is the happiest place on earth!  It is absolutely beautiful, beyond festive & just a holiday heaven.  We had the best time & Waverly even had the chance to meet the real SANTA!

Again, not having it!  This time she lasted the two hour wait & fell asleep minutes before it was our turn.  Go figure, we were happy to have at least one peaceful & positive Santa picture the 2013 holiday season. πŸ™‚

THREESanta!  I was determined for Waverly Maye to meet Santa awake, so this past Sunday we headed back to the mall.  It was all fun & games until the actual, real deal meeting with St. Nick.

Yep, just as expected, he was not her favorite!  Waverly totally had the no-breathe cry going on & once she was done, had the tightest grip on me of her entire 16-month life!  Poor sweet girl, can’t wait to share these pictures with her when she is older. πŸ™‚

FOUR:  Even though the entire country seems to have gotten a snow storm, all we have had is a whole lot of rain here in VB.  So in an effort to pretend like we are having a white Christmas, I took Waverly to this ice palace.

My girl LOVED it & for the first time since her first birthday, was completely speechless & still!
I’m hoping I can convince my husband to make us one of our own for the entire winter season.

FIVEChristmas Smores.  We have been busy each day this month doing our advent calender & it really has been a perfect way to add a little fun into the everyday.  This week, we have read holidays books, sang Christmas tunes, drank hot chocolate & made the yummies smores!

I used this recipe from Pinterest & took my own spin with Christmas hugs for the melted chocolate.  They were delicious & obviously, a complete mess!  But worth it.

We really are having the best holiday season & I have to thank many of YOU for inspiring us with so many creative ideas to take advantage of this time of year!  Our celebrations have definitely changed from ones centered around cocktails to ones with kids, but this really is so much better!
And letsbehonest, the cocktails are still there! πŸ™‚

Enjoy your holiday weekend!!!
XOXO

Thanks again to Darci & the ladies for the link-up!

Awww! Poor Waverly! Our experience with Santa this year was almost exactly like pic #1 with Mrs. Clause. My Evie was definitely not impressed with the jolly guy in red. Somehow we managed no tears though! Love reading your posts! Happy Holidays!!

Visiting from the link-up! I'm glad you enjoyed ChristmasTown! We also went last weekend to run the BG ChristmasTown Dash 8k, but it was postponed b/c of the weather, so we're heading back again this weekend to try again! Did you get some peppermint fudge hot chocolate? πŸ™‚

I just love this time of year and all of your festive posts! I love her face in the first one and then how she’s looking at Mrs Clause in the 2nd one! She’s entirely too cute. Also, I love all of her outfits! Ice Palace sounds like a neat place. I don’t think we have anything like that here in Texas (DFW area).
