Fall Bucket List

We are just about one week into fall and though our weather has not gotten the memo, we are super excited for all the things that this season has in store.  Last weekend we brought out all our fall decor, along with some Halloween books for the girls, and that just always puts me in the mood so much!  Waverly is extra excited this year, she even “helped” me decorate the downstairs by putting our wreath with leaves on it wrapped around one of our houseplants and about 15 glitter pumpkins lined up across the wall.  Sharing our fall bucket list today, this is my favorite time of year for family activities and I can’t wait to check them all off the list!

1.  Smores and a bonfire in the backyard.
2.  Make caramel apples and deliver to family.
3.  Soup Sundays.  We love soup so much and cannot wait to start this again.
4.  Leaf piles for the girls (one of my favorite memories at my grandparents as a child!).
5.  Make a Halloween Gingerbread house.  I actually picked one of these up at Trader Joe’s last week to put away until closer to Halloween, and the girls found it and were determined to do it.  It ended up being a disaster and I couldn’t figure out how to build it (anyone else try it?!!!), so I am going to order a PRE-MADE one this time.
6.  Visit the pumpkin patch.  (Probably at least 3 times!).
7.  Pumpkin carving night with friends.
8.  Adults Only Alabama Football Game.  I went to Tuscaloosa with my family last year for my first Alabama football game, and we are planning on round two next month!  Can’t wait!
9.  Boo Zoo and Trunk or Treat Tradition.
10.  Make pumpkin bread and deliver to neighbors.  We actually ended up delivering apples to our neighbors after our trip to the apple orchard a couple of weeks ago, and the girls loved it so much that they keep asking to do it again.  It really was the sweetest thing, Waverly wrote their names on each bag and we took them to each house (including a boy in her class that she insisted on!), both of them were so proud and so excited to share what they had picked.  I am pretty sure we ended up taking at least a few apples with a bite out of them thanks to little Avalon Elle, but you know, it’s the thought that counts.

Happiest fall to you!!!!  Hope it is off to the best start.

Great list! It's so funny, I actually saw that house at Trader Joe's last week and considered it but then I remembered how Christmas gingerbread house making went for us…haha!

Fall Bucket List

Happiest Friday & also, a very heartfelt thank you to those who took the time to respond with such helpful tips on Waverly’s new bedtime moves.  I am thrilled to report that she hasn’t attempted to escape the last few days, yet we are still taking this as the official sign that it’s big girl bed time!  We have one, it’s been at our house for a few months, but we had decided to make that the last step in her big girl room since she had been doing so well in her crib.  We honestly were shocked that this hadn’t happened before, Waverly has no fear at all & is constantly climbing on everything so we knew it would come eventually.  I am definitely planning to use your tips so thank you, I hope to have a good update on our transition soon! 🙂
And onto some fall festiveness, I thought it would be fun to share some of what we have on the agenda for the next couple of months.  Like last year, I am beyond excited for fall with a little one!  Waverly is at the absolute best age for this type of stuff & I live for making these kinds of memories, so excited is definitely an understatement.  We can’t wait!
1.  Family trip to the pumpkin patch.  Possibly one of my favorite family activities of the entire year.  I love it so much, last year we made a tour of most of the patches in our city during the entire month of October. 😉  This picture of Waverly from last year makes me smile ear to ear, do pumpkins not make the absolute cutest backdrop for kids?!
 2.  Pumpkin-painting.  Now that Waverly is more into crafting, I am really looking forward to helping her make her own little fancy pumpkin this year.  I love that she will be able to help pick out her own decorations this time, I am thinking either a mod-podge with tissue paper or just letting her have at it with some paint.
3.  Fall dessert-baking.  Such a fun time of year for food!  We love soups at our house so we are definitely planning to add them back into our weekly rotation starting this weekend.  We also love fall sweets, I made this apple dessert a couple weekends back for Sunday family dinner.  It was such a fun take on apple pie & Waverly had the BEST time helping me unwrap the caramels to put in it.  The recipe can be found here.
4 – A trip to the farm & farmers market.  I was totally bummed that I could not find a place to take Waverly apple picking, I called everywhere around where we live & couldn’t find any options.  We are going to settle on a farm with lots of fresh food & tractor rides for kids, I’m sure she won’t know the difference & will be equally as impressed with tons to room to run free.
5 – Halloween Kids Party.  I took Waverly to the kids gym we go to for their annual halloween party last year, we had so much fun!!  It was the perfect way to practice trick-or-treating before the real thing, & to get two wears out of her ghost costume.  I can’t wait to take her again!!  My mother-in-law has started making her costume, she also did it last year & I couldn’t have loved it more!
6.  Fall family walks.  We love family walks, all year long but especially when the weather is perfection like this.  It’s our go-to family activity, we took Waverly down to the beach last weekend to enjoy the weather & how quiet it is now that it’s mainly only locals left!

Are there any fall activities I missed?!  What does your family do to stay busy in the fall?  Also, I am beyond thrilled, I got Waverly & I tickets to see Sesame Street Live the first weekend in October!  She is going to go crazy, I cannot wait to see her reaction! 🙂  She loves Elmo so much that we have started counting him as the fourth member to our family.

Happy weekend!
XO

We're doing the transition soon as well, so we'll be watching to see how Waverly handles it too, I'm sure they'll surprise us though, they always do! xx

Great list! I'm also planning on doing some pumpkin painting with Noah this year. I found some cute ideas and haven't decided which ones I will go with. I like the idea of taping off a face so that after they paint it, the untouched part is a jackolantern. But I also like the idea of just letting them go crazy!

Your bucket list sounds like perfection! I think I am most excited about the pumpkin patch too. The one we are going to this year has pumpkin painting and I can't wait for the mess and amazing-ness that will ensue. Holidays and kids are just too much fun!
And what Desiree said, I'm co-hosting a link up with her and another gal and we would love for you to link up and share your fall fun!

What a fun bucket list! Isn't it crazy to see how much they've grown since last year's pumpkin patch pics? I was just looking at ours this week. Cannot wait to take Kaitlyn again and go on the tractor ride this year! I still have no idea what to do for a costume this year, but since Halloween is on a Friday this year, we'll have some friends with babies over for a little Halloween get-together!
