Beach Babe & Swimsuit Styles

The weather was finally warm enough over Memorial Day weekend for our first legit day at the beach, & we could have not have been more excited!!  After spending a couple hours (literally) packing our lives & slathering Waverly in a few bottles of sunscreen, we were finally out the door. πŸ˜‰  It was well-worth it, she was one happy beach baby.

Last summer we spent lots of time in the water, but mostly at the pool or the waterpark.  We tried the beach a few times, but only when my husband was there to help me.  Attempting to keep the sand out of Waverly’s mouth or carrying ten bags (& the baby) down there was just too much for this new mama to handle.

Yet I have been anxious for this summer all year, Waverly’s love of the outdoors & her one for water made me pretty positive that we would be spending lots of time at the beach.  Thoughts of days with her little toddler toes in the sand have been on repeat in my head for months.

As soon as we got down there, Waverly shouted “SILA!” & could not take her eyes off the ocean.  My husband took her out to the water & even though it was still a little cold, she (like usual) had no fear & would have stayed in all day long.  Joe dug a hole for her to hang in with her toys & we spent the afternoon circled around her in our beach chairs.  I’m not sure I can remember the last time I sat for that long, it was glorious & just perfect.

There really isn’t much better than a little body in a swimsuit, it is truly one of my favorite things to see Waverly in.  I usually lean towards lighter, more feminine colors for her, but I cannot get enough of all the black & white “mini” swimsuits out there right now.  I have rounded up some super cute options, all are currently available online!
One: Bow Jelly Sandals, Two: Patterned Swimsuit, Three: Polka Dot Ruffle Front Bathing Suit, Four: Bow Front Swimsuit, Five: Butterfly Print Bikini, Six: Shark Print Swimsuit, Seven:  Colorblock Swim Trunks
And because you know this mama likes to match her mini, I couldn’t resist this black & white suit from Target.  I didn’t wear a one-piece until I became a mama (& my sister tells me I am completely lame for it), but they are so much easier to move around in & more importantly, so much more figure-flattering. #thankful
Waverly had her first swim lesson over the weekend & I am so excited to share pictures soon.  Hope you all had a great few days, four more until another Friday!

We make a trip every summer to Lake Michigan and while it isn't the ocean… it is hard to tell the difference! Our Jackson is the same way… will stay and play in the water and sand (no matter how cold it may be!) as long as we allow him too. p.s. little ones in bathing suits. Doesn't get much cuter than that!

So much fun!!!! I love little ones that love the water!!! πŸ™‚

She really loves the beach! I want to plan a trip to the beach with Noah ASAP!

So glad I'm not alone in a one-piece! It makes me feel a little weird after all these years in a two-piece, but it also makes me feel better about hiding the belly. It's even extra flabby after babe #2.

    • June 2, 2014 / 1:41 pm

Haha, me too lady!!! That belly just isn't the same after little ones!!! πŸ™‚

So this is random, but I realized recently that you know a good friend of mine! (Lauren Reece) She said you were her sorority president in college. Small world! She lived in KC for awhile and we met in childbirth class.

Look how happy she looks!! What sweetheart in her bathing suit and hat. Glad you all got to enjoy some beach time this weekend!

Awww, I love this! Sydney loves playing in the sand near water. Lol. She has gotten into really choosing her own swimsuits this year, and she definitely has a certain style with them. BRIGHT & FRILLY! lol.
As far as my swimsuit goes, I just can't seem to make myself buy a one piece. They seem worse on me than a two piece. I am considering a tankini this year though. Lol

Ahhhh, so jealous of you living near the beach! Growing up in PA, it was easy for us to take even a day trip to get to a beach…not that we're in Texas, not so much! I love the black and white's, too! I actually picked up a two-piece for Sadie at the end of summer last year because I couldn't say no to the sweet retro-style and black and white colors! As for me, I'm still wearing a bikini but I've been looking and looking at one pieces because you're totally right, a bikini is not easy to maintain while chasing after a toddler! The one pieces out there right now are totally cute, I'm just afraid of looking like a "mom" and my husband thinking the same thing…even though they look fabulous on everyone else! Maybe it's just me about to turn 33 and trying to cling on to what little piece of my 20's I feel like I have left? Bahahahaha
    xoxo

    • June 2, 2014 / 6:13 pm

Yea, I'm all about the retro styles!!! I was exactly the same, totally not ready to accept being in my 30s and wearing the "mom" suit! But there are actually some really cute ones!!!!!!! And I pretend I am still in my 20s everyday. πŸ˜‰

    • June 3, 2014 / 2:48 am

Jess I feel ya with the one pieces too!! Just got my first one this year eeeekk! Kingdom and State has some cute ones! thats what I snagged!!!

  9. June 2, 2014 / 3:40 pm

You girl is so lovely… My Niece is just like her, she ins't afraid of anything and she could spend the whole day walking around the Beach!

  10. June 2, 2014 / 3:42 pm

Oh my gosh, she looks ADORABLE! That purse is too much!! Glad you had a great weekend! Can't wait to fly home to visit my parents in August as they live right on the beach. I can't wait to watch my son get dirty and have fun!

  11. June 2, 2014 / 3:46 pm

How fun! Waverly looks like she is in heaven and could live at the beach! I can't wait to take Liam again, now that he is older. When he the lake at my parent's cabin, he exclaimed "pool"! Too funny!

  12. June 2, 2014 / 4:18 pm

so precious! and I'm so jealous! I wish we could just pop over to the beach anytime we wanted…a 12 hour drive just isn't feasible every weekend! ha!

  13. June 2, 2014 / 4:35 pm

Ahh this makes me excited for our beach trip in about a month and a half!! πŸ™‚ I hope my little guy loves the beach as much as it looks like Waverly did.

  14. June 2, 2014 / 4:36 pm

oh my gosh, that hat is too cute on her, the little ears, I die! Love her swimsuit too…I need to buy a swimsuit this year, not sure which way I'm going to go…

  15. June 2, 2014 / 5:11 pm

So adorable! We have the same suit but we haven't gotten to try it out yet this season.

  16. June 2, 2014 / 5:20 pm

    I love her beach style!
I wanted the polka dot ruffle suit from Old Navy for my daughter but they were all sold out. The turquoise one is cute too, but the polka dots are just darling!

  19. June 2, 2014 / 6:31 pm

I'm with you on how long it takes to lotion these babes up. There's GOT to be a better way, or invention to get them all lathered with sunscreen. Let's invent something and become millionaires, mmmm k? πŸ™‚

  20. June 2, 2014 / 7:22 pm

You know how obsessed Abigail is with polka dots right now! She's love those swimsuits!!

Gotta hit up Grammy now I guess πŸ˜‰

Holy smokes, how stinkin' cute is Waverly (I mean, obviously. But, that suit)!!
This weekend was just perfect for the beach! If it wasn't for all the *stuff* required to get to the beach we would probably live there. πŸ™‚

  23. June 2, 2014 / 9:24 pm

Oh my goodness these pictures are amazing. The smile on her face is priceless!! And her outfit, can I get that? The hat, suit and bag….so so cute!

The beach is the best! You have the sweetest fam.

  25. June 3, 2014 / 1:42 am

haha, one pieces are much easier for toddler wrangling that's for sure. I hate having to bring 2 big bags for the beach and putting sunscreen on the kid is just such a pain. Good thing she loves the beach so totally worth it in the end. Such a cute swimsuit, and those pics are gorgeous!

  26. June 3, 2014 / 1:44 am

Adorable! I'm glad that she loved the beach! You can totally tell it from the pictures. I am addicted to little swimsuits. Charlotte has four! I am really digging #4, but I know that it would never be white again after wearing it to the beach once if I put Charlotte in it. But maybe Evelyn….

  27. June 3, 2014 / 2:20 am

Looks like a blast at the beach and those black and white bathing suits are adorable!! I love the polka dot with the ruffles.

  28. June 3, 2014 / 2:45 am

Ah yes, the death of my bikinis. It was a mournful event, but I've moved on. Though I did recently find one two piece that fit correctly in all the right places and I've worn it once this year so far!! But there were no kids involved, so that helped as far as placement issues, lol. Tankinis it is the rest of summer! πŸ™‚

    • June 3, 2014 / 12:04 pm

Haha, right?!!! I didn't think this moment would come but it has! πŸ˜‰

  29. June 3, 2014 / 2:50 am

How lucky you guys get beach trips!! I grew up in Hawaii and miss the beaches!! And oh the black and white going on at OldNavy- LOVE!! I need to get that polka dot one for Q!

    • June 3, 2014 / 12:03 pm

Thanks, I bet it was so fun to grow up there!!! πŸ™‚

  30. June 3, 2014 / 12:51 pm

Waverly's little suit is presh! Love all your picks also! Loving number 3 and number 6! XO

  31. June 4, 2014 / 2:57 am

Ohhh to live near a beach!!! Waverly looks pretty happy about it too!!! πŸ™‚

  32. June 4, 2014 / 12:13 pm

Jealous!! I am in need of a serious beach day! And I'm dying to see how Mia likes it now that she can run around and play on the beach and in the water! SO much fun! And Waverly's swim suit? I die! So perfect!
I still wear bikinis…. I don't think I'll give those suckers up until, well, obviously until I can't pull them off anymore. Maybe I shouldn't wear them anymore but they make me feel young… in a weird way. HA!

  33. June 4, 2014 / 5:43 pm

That little leopard swimsuit…so cute! Do they make those in big people sizes? Of course I wouldn’t look as adorable as sweet little Miss Waverly, though!
