Ohhhh, the summer of Covid-19. In some ways completely like any summer before it + in others it has been SO very different. Either way, we are headed into our last two weeks before break is over (and virtual learning starts), so I thought I would share some favorite photos of our girls from the past few months.
I was uploading all of these photos + noticed that my girls have rarely worn real clothes or shoes all all. 😉 This is such an accurate representation of life the last few months, low expectations, no schedules, and lots of time spent together making the most out of all of this. Mornings at the pool, afternoons at our favorite neighborhood spot, and an occasional short trip to the beach. Hard moments from soooo much togetherness but also some really beautiful ones, and still trying everyday to find the silver linings between all the chaos. Honestly a lot like in general with three little kids.
Love this little trio of girls so so much.
We hope you have had a wonderful summer your way!! Sending all the love as we transition to a fall that looks a whole lot different this year, we can do this! XO
We celebrated our newest eight year old with a rainbow themed brunch followed by an afternoon at the pool, it was the sweetest day for our biggest sister. Waverly typically wants to spend time at the pool on her birthday, I honestly don’t remember the last birthday she had that we didn’t + that she wasn’t wearing a bathing suit. 😉 It’s how we spend most of our summer anyways, so a day at the pool seems fitting for our very first summer birthday girl who was born right in the middle of summer EIGHT YEARS AGO!!!
We did a fun balloon rainbow garland paired with little rainbow things, even though it was just a small brunch I still like to make things special + festive. My sister-in-law came through with the sweetest cookies again (if you are local, her shop is Heart of Sugar), and I am obsessed with the cake topper Carson Ro Designs sent over for Waverly’s ice cream cake, her one request.
This was the first year EVER of Waverly’s eight years of life that she did not get nervous during the birthday song, instead she was feeling herself + loved the attention. 😉 Also three things I always want to remember from this birthday: Waverly spending half of her birthday money buying Avalon a notebook and candy, her new fake pink glasses I got her that she won’t take off, and my favorite of all, her saying first thing on her birthday eve “mom, I tell ya, time is really flying by, these birthdays keep coming.” Tell me about it, sister.
HAPPY EIGHT to the girl that made me a mama! Waverly Maye, you are so uniquely you + I love you more than you will ever know. I love watching you grow and I don’t know how I would ever live without you.

By the end of the weekend we will have an EIGHT YEAR OLD!! Two years from double digits + halfway to sixteen, I CANNOT BELIEVE IT but at the same time she is such a grown up little lady these days, I can definitely believe it. 🙂 Waverly is so excited to celebrate her birthday, we are going to have a brunch with family followed by an afternoon at the pool + a sleepover with one of her best little friends (the same exact plans as Avalon’s birthday just over a month back, that’s how we roll!). She gets so excited to celebrate everyone’s special day and we are so excited to celebrate hers, eight whole candles on a cake for my first baby girl.
A little bit about an eight year old Waverly Maye, this is so easy to write because she is so very unique and has so many little things that just make her special in her own way. She is energetic, talkative, fearless, + very much a leader who has all the opinions. This is something that can be challenging (and always has been with her) but is also something that I know will take her so very far one day. She is so incredibly passionate about the things she loves and will spend all the time learning more about the things that matter to her, especially Alabama football and fishing to be just like her daddy. 🙂 She is a typical first born child, she constantly looks out for her little sisters + would literally do ANYTHING for them, one of the things I love the most about her.
She’s very organized and lives for a routine, writes lists almost as much as I do, and does not like anything out of place. There is rarely a night she doesn’t set out her clothes for the next day + always packs a bag for any outing we are going on at least two hours before we even attempt to go. She loves swimming, dancing, the color purple + pizza, and was awarded the “pure sunshine” award in her second grade class for the second time in her elementary school years. Eight years with her and a lifetime to go, I can only imagine how far this life will take her.
Some favorite photos from this past year, I will always remember her seventh year as the year she knocked her two front teeth out out, that smile will forever be a favorite of mine.
Happy birthday weekend Waverly Maye, we loveeeeee you! XO
Aaah, I cannot believe the fourth of July has already come + gone! We had the best holiday weekend, even though this year looked a little different we were still able to manage most of our favorite traditions and right now even the simplest of those feel extra special. A small parade, time at our neighborhood pool, a cookout with family + some sparklers, all the wonderful things!!! By the end of the day Remerie was way too exhausted to see any fireworks and it turns out Avalon Elle (who is not scared of anything) suddenly had a fear of loud noises and I had to hide inside with her during all of the fireworks in our neighborhood, but all in all the BEST DAY.
Waverly said her favorite part was late night fireworks with dad (she felt like such a big girl!), Avalon loved ALL the sweets + swimming at the pool, and little Remie Rue was so precious riding in the wagon in her first parade. Love these little American girls so much.
They get it from their mama, both my big girls woke up July 5th asking when the next holiday is, we are sad to wait until October for another big one but have lots of birthdays to celebrate before then so that will get us through. 😉 We hope your holiday was the best! XO
**Last year’s Fourth of July post is here + the year before is here, and 2017 is here. Cannot believe how LITTLE they were!
