Happy February!  It’s officially been three months now but I am finallyyyyy sharing some family photos we did a few months back, we try to do photos each fall for holiday cards if we can make it work.  We obviously have 40583 of the girls, but I want them to be able to look back + remember moments with our entire family, too!  This time around I did a trade with one of my best friends Brooke of Brooke Tucker Photography, I took some of her family + then she took ours, we each kept our own memory cards and did our own edits.  This was such a fun way to do family photos, we are both so comfortable with each other’s families and the kids cooperated so much better this way!!!  I highly recommend this if you take photos, bonus points if you have a wonderful friend who is willing to trade with you even if you aren’t technically a professional.

I am linking my dress here, it’s a definite favorite year-round, the print is sooooooo good!  And the biggest thank you to Brooke, who has captured so many beautiful family moments with us over the years.  We are forever thankful!  XO

I am so excited to team up with The Smile Generation today, to share what makes me smile, my giiiiirls!  This post is so fun + easy for me to write, raising tiny humans is no easy task but there is not a day that goes by without laughter.  One of my biggest goals in motherhood to to focus on the (many) things my girls do that make me happy + joyful, rather than the hard moments.  It really makes SUCH A difference, perspective is everything!  If you don’t keep a running list of things your kids say or do that make me smile, I so recommend this.  Here are eight current things on mine, things my girls do that make me smile! 🙂

1 –  Avalon Elle in the driveway when I get home from work each day.  She rarely misses a day, the first thing I see when I drive up is her running through the door to greet me + it makes being a working mama so much easier!

2 – Waverly Maye’s love for football.  I grew up loving Alabama football, per my dad, and am pretty much obsessed with all things SEC in the fall.  Waverly might just love it even more than me, she recently has started practicing throwing the ball outside each afternoon + her favorite activity during PE is football, when she is quarterback.

3 – Holding hands with Remerie Rue, which is really her holding my finger while we walk, which is EVERYTHING.  Is there anything sweeter?  She is so quick to run away these days but will always still hold on each time I try and it’s a definite favorite.

4 – All three girls playing nicely together.  THE END.  There is nothing better in the world, absolutely nothing!

5 – Waverly’s squinty eyes when she is talking about something she is really into.  This is usually when she is explaining some sort of plan she has come up with or an outfit she really wants to wear, she has done this forever + it always makes me smile.

6 – Avalon’s accent.  It’s this northern kind of accent + I have no idea where it came from, but she is going on five this June and it is still here, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I am constantly trying to record it as much as possible, I already know how much I will desperately miss it one day.

7 – Remie Rue’s dance moves.  All three girls love to dance but Remerie just really, really loves it and already has the best dance moves at just 16 months old.  Pretty much any bad mood of hers can be fixed by music, I hope it always stays this way!

8 – Not really something any of them do, but one of my favorite parts of the day, during the week, is walking to pick up Waverly from school with the two little girls.  Are they really all mine?  These days in the trenches of young motherhood are so hard but also make me smile so very much, what an honor it is to be their mama.

The Smile Generation is helping to make our smiles so much brighter, by providing an easier, more cost-effective way to get to the dentist!  With these services, you can quickly find a dentist that is convenient to you + with a customized budget.  This is so helpful for mamas, it takes out a lot of the stress and anxiety that can come from the dentist!  Click here for more information, and happy HALFWAY through the week! Aaaaaah, podcasts!  I seriously cannot say enough good things about them, this post in not sponsored at all, just one mama sharing something that has been a total game-changer for me.  Truthfully, since becoming a mom, making time for me has been something I have always struggled with, especially during the school months when I am working full-time.  I have always immediately felt mom guilt when I was not working + not with my girls every minute, to make up for the time that I wasn’t there, but reaaaaaally have been making an effort to work on that – mostly because I I wholeheartedly believe that all moms deserve time to do the things they love and that ultimately, they are better moms for it.  You can’t pour from an empty cup, you must take care of yourself first.

2019 was the first year I really got better with this + I seriously think that discovering some of of my current podcasts favorites are a huge part of that.  For me, they have been a big source of inspiration + motivation, along with just something fun for me to look forward to.  I love having an outlet that I feel like I can enjoy while also getting so much out of at the same time, there are few mom podcasts I have listened to where I haven’t come out of it feeling completely rejuvenated, challenged, and just inspired to just be a better mom.  Also, I looooove that they really “give me permission” to make time for me, which sounds completely ridiculous, but sometimes a little reminder from someone who is in the same season you are in makes all the difference.

*An unrelated photo of my girls, but every post deserves a photo. 😉

I thought I would share four of my current favorites, all mama related + all SO GOOD!

Coffee + Crumbs — Current go-to for sure, Ashlee is the author of my favorite book “Motherhood is Magic” + the podcast is just as relatable and inspiring.  My favorite episodes are the “This is How We” ones, they share how they do laundry, toys, self-care …  it is so interesting and so helpful to hear what works for others.

The Mamahood — The first podcast I really got into, mostly created for moms “in the trenches of motherhood” which is soooo me right now, I have been able to relate to every episode and have really found some great parenting ideas/tips here.  Marren + Aubree are super sweet and each have three little ones, I love hearing their take on motherhood!

Find the Magic — Another favorite, I have pretty much listened to every single episode they have done.  I love their idea on miracle mornings, basically getting up before your kids each day + doing some things that bring you joy, to set the tone for the entire day!  They also have such a positive take on parenting and discipline, I love this outlook and have taken so many ideas from this.

The Mom Hour — I haven’t listened to as many from this podcast but have loved the ones I have, it’s hosted by two moms who have four kids between them!  It’s super funny and mostly light-hearted, and has some really fun episodes focused on babies + toddlers, all the way up to older kids.

If you have a favorite podcast that I did not list, PLEASE SHARE!!!  Comment below or send me a DM/message, I am always looking for new ones to add, especially as we head into 2020!  Hope your year is off to the best start! XO

A fresh new start for a new year, I always feel so motivated + energized for all the things right after the holidays and this time around I am definitely feeling all of that (maybe more than ever before!).  2019 was good to us in so many ways, by far my favorite part was how many beautiful memories we were able to make as a family of five and with our sweet girls. One of the advantages of seven years between Waverly + Remerie is a constant reminder of how fast time goes, it makes it so much easier to not stress so much about the small stuff and to really soak in all the goodness.  We also were able to settle more into our home, complete lots of house projects + have really fallen in love with our neighborhood more than ever.

Like any year, 2019 also brought its challenges.  We are still navigating life with three kids, we have mostly figured out how to balance life with a second grader, preschooler + a baby but of course there are moments that I feel like I am in survival mode.  I have been a mama long enough to know that these challenges will go + will be replaced with new ones 😉 but as we head into a new year, a huge goal for me is to make even more intentional experiences for our babes and traditions for us as a family.  More one on one time when possible + more special moments tailored to their sweet little personalities.  One of my biggest plans for the year is to forgo birthday parties for special trips/experiences that they each get to pick, I am already looking forward to this so much!

Also, I don’t talk about it much on the blog, but am still trying to find the best working mom balance for me.  I looooooove my schedule as a teacher and am so thankful for it, but have struggled with some of the career decisions I have made (which has been the greatest life lesson) + and am hoping the future will bring a new opportunity in the schools.  This is something we have talked about for a while and that I have worked really hard towards, I am working hard to stay hopeful and optimistic!  I want to also continue to pursue my creative passions, in style, design + photography.  I am not really sure how this will look or even if I will do much more until my kids are older, but I do know that this sort of thing brings me joy + something that is all my own, and I am the biggest believer that all mamas deserve that.

All in all, I get another year of life + learning, these sweet girls + their daddy — I am just so thankful for it.

Happiest 2020 to you, hope it brings you all the happiness! XO

Happy New Year’s Eve!  Stopping in for a quick post to recap our Christmas before it’s officially 2020, this was such a sweet holiday for us + I am so sad it’s already over.  The girls are at really good ages for all the magic but in really different ways, it was so much fun to watch!

Waverly was so excited, she was the one who woke up throughout the night Christmas Eve and ended up in our bed before 4am (this is so like me as a kid).  Her biggest wish was an American Girl doll, we got her one that has red hair like her + she has been sleeping with her each night and buckling her in the car ever since.  Also worth noting, she had every single present put away and organized before 9am, also so like me.

Avalon, age 4, probably my favorite age for Christmas!  Still young enough to have her eyes wide open for every little part but old enough to understand, her biggest question was how Santa was going to make it down our chimney with all the logs. 😉 She wanted a drum, but probably her favorite present of the holiday (for the second year in a row) was a toothbrush and Peppa Pig soap.

And little Remerie Rue, no surprise to anyone, she could have cared less about anything she got + only loved the paper.  By Christmas Day she was able to unwrap presents all on her own and it was the most precious.  I still cannot believe we found out about her two Christmas’s ago, she is forever my most favorite gift.

This was our first Christmas without my brother + sister here, both have moved and weren’t able to come back this time around, which was definitely sad for all of us.  Thankful for these three little girls to keep us busy + also so thankful that we will be able to celebrate with them in a couple months when I go to Colorado for my first time! 🙂 Hope your holiday was absolutely perfect, and happiest 2020, from our family to yours!!!!!! XO
