It’s December 4th, and it is also time for Waverly’s fourth outfit in her “Chic Countdown to Christmas.”  I am seriously having way too much fun with this already …

Waverly’s Outfit is Bearington Baby – the flower is removable & attached by velcro which makes it super easy for washing and it can be interchanged with different ones!  Her socks are also Bearington Baby – comes with a pack of three.
Headband is from Etsy.

In other news … as indicated in the top picture, Waverly Maye has officially found her feet.  Last week was the tongue, and this week it’s those scrumptious little toes.  It is amazing how entertained she can be by discovering parts to her own body … and equally as fascinating is how rewarding it is for me to watch it.   I knew being a mom was going to be great, but there was no preparing me for exactly how great it would beSo in love

This afternoon was a typical one in our little home – Waverly was entertained on her playmat & I was unpacking the most recent baby fashion purchases by my mother while trying to fit them into her ever-expanding closet.

(Side Note: While taking care of our sweet girl is obviously a full-time position – maintaining her wardrobe could most likely be a job all of its own.  I would be embarassed to admit how many hours are devoted to her fashion.)

To my point … The latest additions to Waverly’s wardrobe are an assortment of holiday looks.  These will be added to a Christmas collection that we had already started, and it made me wonder if we would even have the time to adorn her in them all before this festive month ends.  I thought of changing her every hour on both Chritmas Eve & day, but realized that was slightly ridiculous and figured there had to be a better alternative.  And thus, Waverly’s Chic Countdown to Christmas was born.

It combines many of my loves … Waverly, Christmas, & fashion.  This daily compilation of festive  baby fashion begins today, and will (of course!) last until December 25th.  And since it is now December 3rd (already?!!), today’s pot will include three looks to make up for lost time.

It’s officially December, and I couldn’t be feeling more festive.  It definitely is true that holidays (or life, in general) take on new meaning when you have a child.  I have ALW AYS loved Christmas, it is truly the “most wonderful time of the year,” and there has never been a year that I wasn’t looking forward to it.  But with that being said, this year, without a doubt, is more special than ever.  Even though Waverly Maye won’t remember sitting on Santas’s lap, feeling the branches of our Christmas tree, or feeling for the paper of her wrapped gifts … I can’t help but start our own family traditions and make her first official Christmas nothing less tham perfect.

As a result, I have planned to take in every solitary moment of this holiday season.  So in an effort to get all this “festiveness” started, we spent the first day of December at Christmastown (or what I like to call a magical, beautiful Christmas universe.

Take Note:  My husband is the only one not in festive attire.  I tried to get him a matching red & green outfit, but for some reason, he wasn’t into it?

Too funny!  My favorite picture from the day …
Who is this Mrs. Claus?!!!

No, not literally.  Although I am convinced that our Waverly Maye is a genius baby (Aren’t all moms?), she is not yet walking (in fact, we are still working on that “rolling over” thing).  The steps I am referring to in this blog title are metamorphically speaking, of course, and in reference to the recent highs & lows we have had with Waverly’s sleeping situation. I will start with the low, and end with the high since I always like to end on a positive note. 🙂
LOW – We have had Waverly down to a “once-a-night” wake-up for at least couple of months now. She was going down to sleep at about 8 every night, and not making so much as a peep until 3/4 in the morning.  And on a few rather magical nights, she even slept straight through until 5 or 6 AM when I was getting up for work.  I was feeling rather accomplished in the fact that my sleepless nights were behind me, and was sure that as Waverly grew, our household sleep schedule was only going to get better.  Well, I clearly did not read my baby books in enough detail, because if I had, I would have been at least a little more mentally prepared for my future.  It appears that most babies experience a “sleep regression” at four months old, and our Waverly Maye is no exception.  Our good little sleeper is now waking up 2-3 times during each night, and that means that so is Mommy.  That continued improvement in sleep I was looking forward to … Yea, not so much.  Our new “lack of sleep” schedule has been occurring for about a week now.
*I must note that even if there was no high to report, and if Waverly’s new sleep regimen continued into a couple of months, she would still be more than worth it, of course.  I must also note that I really hope it doesn’t.
HIGH – As previously posted, our Waverly Maye has been sleeping in our room, specfically in her swing, for the duration of her four month life.  Well, we have finally started to pave the way to a new place of slumber (her crib, in her own room).  Of course, mommy was not too excited, nor the one to initiate the move .. But I realize the importance its importance and thus, agreed.  We are accomplishing this move one step at a time … And although we are still in stage two (in a rock’n’play in her room) … We are certainly progressing.  As of now, we have had no major meltdowns, although we have come close a time or two.  I consider that a success.
Do the high & low have anything to do with each other?  Possibly, I would presume.  Yet we will continue on our quest for a return to nights (almost) full of peaceful slumber.  And again, yes, she is more than worth it.

Waverly at a peaceful moment. 🙂

So Waverly’s first four months have literally flown by, and I am really starting to understand what people mean when they ALWAYS tell to cherish each moment (Top comment I have gotten ever since my expanding belly was obvious enough to be a baby bump, and still get at least once daily!).  I  have definitely taken the advice and am cherishing each second with my baby girl.  And as much as I want all ths growing to slow down so she stays my snugly little baby bean forever … I can’t help but love each milestone and watching her grow & develop each day.
With all these changes that my budding little baby has had lately, we are constantly in need of new products and adapting our daily routine (It still amazes me how much “stuff” a tiny human can require … But I admit I love all that “stuff!”).  Here are our FOUR MONTH FAVORITES!

1 – Taggies Blanket ($9.99; Bed, Bath & Beyond). Waverly is officially a curious, active ball of energy these days … So in other words, we have officially entered the toy stage.  The taggies blanket has loops completely around it so that you can hook a variety of toys on each one.  That way, when she gets bored with one (short attention span), I can turn the blanket and give her another.  It also helps keep her toys in one place. And it’s super soft & comfy!

2 – Bright Starts Lots of Links ($ 4.04; Target).   In keeping with the toy theme, these links are perfect.  They allow you to hook all of those toys around the taggie, and you can also use them to hang toys from your stroller, bassinet, or crib (if she was actually willing to lay in that crib, they would be even better.  But that’s another blog post … ).

3 – Sophie the Giraffe ($21.99; Babies’R’Us).  Ok, so I know I’ve posted about Sophie once before, but we love her so much that she completely deserves a second shout-out.  I don’t know what it is about that little giraffe, but Waverly just loves her …. Loves to eat her, squeeze her, and just hold on to her.  Thank goodness for Sophie.

4 – Wub Nub Pacifier ($13; Amazon).  I admit it … We have given Waverly a pacifier pretty much since she was a week old.  (I realize some don’t agree, but my pediatrician gave me the go and it has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion; I’m definitely not turning back now!).  Since she has gotten older, and is able to grasp on better, she likes it more and more. The Wub Nub combines the pacifier with a soft, cuddly stuffed animal that gives her something to play with and snuggle up to.  She LOVES it, and looks so cute with it, too!

5 – Fenugreek Pills ($9.98; Amazon).  Random, I know, but this one has been a life-changer. Since going back to work, my milk supply has slowly been dwindling … Almost to the point that we had to supplement with formula. But after my doctor suggested these pills, my supply has gone up considerably with each pumping session.  I take two pills each morning and night, and have noticed a significant difference.
