A Piercing for My Precious

Waverly had one of those major moments this week.  It wasn’t a developmental milestone, but an important day in her life nonetheless … One that will most likely affect her daily fashion for years to come.  Yes, our Waverly Maye had her ears pierced.  As may be expected, it was planned by mom much to the disappointment of dad.  I made the appointment a few weeks ago (at the doctor, rather than at Claire’s or The Icing), and knew my husband wouldn’t share my excitement for the event. However, after some convincing … He didn’t argue my need to adorn our baby girl with a pair of studs in those precious ears.
Like mother, like daughter … As I also had my ears pierced as a baby.  However, times have certainly progressed as Waverly had lotion applied to her ears to numb them and she didn’t even feel a thing.  Our wiggleworm was hardly quiet when she had to sit still on my lap in order for the nurse to perform the piercing, yet she was smiling within minutes.  And those sparkly studs look rather adorable on that cute face.  In fact, they are so cute I think my husband secretly likes them himself.  He just won’t admit it.

Was searching for my GF's blog and came across yours. Loved your own story of piercing your dd's ears at the ped's office.

This was a perfect age to pierce her ears! Dh didn't come either, but loved how "daddy's little girl" looked with little earrings 🙂

You were a smart mommy for doing it now and following mommy intuition earlier is best when mommy can care for them. Babies and little girls with little pierced ears celebrates their femininity and femaleness.

Our ped said doing it early was best and had some tips for moms having their infant dd's ears pierced.

If any moms are thinking about it, and want some more research on the topic, write me an e-mail.

    Ashley,

Thanks for commenting on my comment. I sent my GF, Amy, your blog link and she adored Waverly and her pretty earrings. She is so envious since her dd is six months and she wants them done, but dh is hesitant. Am sure your dd has gotten many compliments on her earrings.

We did our dd at six weeks and afterwards 2 other moms in my playgroup with girls got their dd's ears done too! Suspect if your like me, other moms will stop and ask you a 100 questions about having her ears pierced now, but it is best. BTW, she'll look adorable in her upcoming holiday pics with earrings.

P.S. Look for Amy to stop by and know she'll become a follower too 🙂
