32 Things

I turned 32 over the weekend (which is crazy!), we had such a fun time celebrating!  A morning walk on the beach & breakfast with my girls and the hubs, some alone time complete with a much-needed nail appointment, and dinner with my family.  We even snuck out for a couples date night with some friends, it was perfect!  In honor of my birthday, I thought it would be fun to share 32 things about me!  These are some of my favorite posts to read, I love seeing what I have in common with other bloggers, be sure to comment below if you can relate to any of my 32!
1 – I am born & raised in Virginia Beach, my parents live about fifteen minutes away from me, which (especially these days!), I am so thankful for.
2 – I was a cheerleader in both middle school & high school and did competition cheerleading on the side, so it was a pretty big part of my childhood.  My younger sister also competitively cheered (although she was way better than me), and now, Waverly is on the same team she was!  She just started last week & it’s pretty much the cutest thing ever.
3 – I am the oldest of four, two brothers & one sister.  All of us still live in Virginia Beach, which is so fun, though one of my brothers is seriously considering moving to Denver in the next few months. We are so happy for him and just a little selfishly sad.
4 – I am left-handed.
5 – My husband & I have only been on a plane together once, on our honeymoon to the Bahamas.  It was the most amazing trip and I remember promising ourselves so many times while we were there that we would take a big trip once a year from there on out.  Then we had kids. 😉
6 – I watch reality tv more than anything else, my current favorites are the real housewives of any city & bachelor in paradise.
7 – I am definitely a morning person, which works out well for being a mom, even on the couple of times Waverly has stayed at my parents I am up before 8.
8 – I was president of my sorority in college.  And though I could never (ever!) live like that again, college was so, so much fun.
9 – Twins run in my family, on both sides.  I always thought I would have twins, which I guess the verdict is still out on. Scary!
10 – I have a total sweet tooth, I eat ice cream almost every single night in bed before I go to sleep. Yet in both my pregnancies, I had a total aversion to ice cream & even the thought of it made me sick.
11 – My mom always told me that once I had kids I would stop caring about my own wardrobe, & unfortunately, that did not happen.  I still want to shop for me, both the girls, the house … shopping is definitely my weakness.
12 – My hair color is natural & although I like it now, I used to hate it when I was younger.  In my senior picture, it is completely dyed blonde.
13 – I have issues (major ones) with staying at my house by myself.  Every single little noise freaks me out. A couple weeks ago my husband was working overnight & I woke up to a noise, I called him and wouldn’t let him off the phone with me while he was driving to the house to make sure we were all ok.  So embarrassing.
14 – I have always wanted four kids.  I think that is still the plan, but we may have to talk again after three.
15 – My grandparents (the girls great-grandparents) live about ten minutes away from me & we visit them all of the time.  They are watching both girls every other Friday this year, which I love so much!
16 – Giving gifts is one of my favorite things, I love thinking of thoughtful things to get people.  I also LOVE sending things in the mail, and color-coordinating it to make it look pretty when people open it up.
17 – Target.  Oh, Target!  Totally my happy place & Waverly’s now too! 🙂  We go a couple times a week, at least, even though my husband always insists I should go somewhere else because it would be cheaper.
18 – I really try to be friendly to everyone, most of the sales associates at our mall know me & when we go, call Waverly by name.  Which is probably a sign we go too much.
19 – I love, love a planner & a list.  I always have a million lists written in way too many places (which probably defeats the purpose), but it just feels good.
20 – I really like grocery shopping but have recently decided that I hate to cook.  I really have to be in the mood & that hasn’t happened in months.  Or maybe more.
21 –  My entire family is on a group text and we use it often, at least a couple times a week.
22 – I am so thankful for Amazon.  Specifially, Amazon Prime.  Like it’s really the greatest thing ever (besides Target).
23 – School supply shopping was always one of my favorite parts of going back to school when I was a kid (that & the first day of school outfit), I was SO freaking excited to take Waverly for her school supplies (to Target) a couple weeks ago.
24 – I always thought I would have all boys, and was convinced both Waverly & Avalon were boys.  But I obviously adore having little girls, and as much as we would love a boy one day, we would love having all girls, too!  It drives me crazy when we are out & people ask, “are you going to try again to get that boy?”.
25 – I love country music, yet I didn’t start liking it until I went to college.  Now it’s pretty much all I listen to.
26 – We hardly ever go to the movies & I can’t even remember the last one I saw.  I am too much of a mover to sit that long.
27 – Mexican food is my favorite, there’s nothing quite like chips, salsa & a margarita!
28 – I majored in Fashion but I could never, ever design it.  I can’t even sew a button.
29 – I love my phone (and social media) & hate it all at the same time.  Sometimes I wish we lived before people felt like they should be able to get in touch with you, all of the time.
30 – Floral prints are my favorite thing to wear, hands-down, anytime of the year.
31 – I love my job but have about 100 other jobs I think I would love, too.  A fashion editor, stylist, & ultrasound technician to name a few.  I feel like people should be able to change careers every couple years, wouldn’t that be fun?!
32 – I love being a mom.  It is definitely the hardest thing I have ever done, but by far the best.  I know a lot of moms get really sad as their kids grow & though it’s definitely bittersweet, I mostly am ok with it.  I really love every stage (most parts!), and want to raise my kids to always stay close to their family, so I love that I get to keep them forever.

So there you have it, my 32 things!  And for fun, some pictures of our walk on the beach this weekend, growing old isn’t so bad when you get to do it with your favorites. 🙂
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
XO

Happy Birthday, beautiful! So awesome you grew up in VA Beach and your family is so close. We used to visit VA Beach for soccer tournaments every year and I always left wishing I lived at the beach. Where did you go to college? I had a blast those four years, but definitely couldn't do it all over again, my body would just die. I'm the same way about noises, I HATE them in the house when I'm home alone, it's so scary! Hope you have a great day!

Happy Belated Birthday!!! I too cheered in Middle School and High School…oh the memories!

I love reading this!!! Happy belated! And yes…..CHEERS to the fun-ness of back to school shopping! xx

Happy belated birthday, sweet friend! Loved reading this and getting to know a little more about you – and finding out yet more ways we are similar:) My husband still hopes for 4 kiddos and I say I'll think about after I see how we do with three (if we are blessed with a third – I never take anything for granted anymore). The thought of being done having babies makes me so sad though, so who knows. Maybe we'll end up with 6 — just kidding, lol!

I love shopping. Target is my happy place. I don't have Amazon Prime though (whaaatttt? I know. I need to just get it).

And #20 – amen. I don't know what happened, but ever since baby #2, I have NO desire to cook. Ugh.

Happy Birthday pretty lady! I'm with you on being a total wuss when it comes to being alone in the house! We live in a super safe area and have an alarm and I still freak out! If I'm at my parents house and drive home at night (but before Chris gets home) my mom follows me and we do a "sweep" of all three levels (and every closet) to make sure no one is hiding… How lame is that?!

  6. August 31, 2015 / 6:33 pm

Your hair is amazing! I can't believe you would ever not like it.
College – oh, so much fun, but seriously, nope, could never do it again.
I thought all my babes would be boys too – especially after I had Marcus. Whoops. Wrong.
Happiest of Happy Birthdays to you sweet momma!

I loved this and adore you! Happy belated birthday, Ashley!

  8. August 31, 2015 / 8:08 pm

Happy belated birthday! I'm with you–these posts are so fun! So many similarities! I just kept reading and nodding "Yep." I hope you were spoiled this weekend.

Happy belated birthday! This was a fun post, I enjoyed getting to know you a little bit more – we have more in common than I though. Target is pretty wonderful and I consider it to be one of my happy places. Also, #31, I feel like this really should be a thing. There are so many things I'd like to do as my job. And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who eats ice cream every night before bed. Though like you, while I was pregnant, the though to ice cream made me sick. So strange!

  10. August 31, 2015 / 8:31 pm

I love that you want more kids!!! We'll at least have a third, but I may be open to more…. Not sure I ever told you this, but when we lived in Delaware we used to vacation in Virginia Beach! I just love it there!

  11. August 31, 2015 / 9:29 pm

Aww, happy birthday! My birthday was over the weekend too, we hit up the beach and the kids had so much fun. Loved the list, and making lists, I do it often. Yes to Mexican food, specifically bean and cheese burritos (when I could eat them) and I miss them oh so much!

These were great! Happy Belated Birthday! So many things in common: first, Luke & I have only been on a plane together & that, too, was for our honeymoon. Secondly, the last couple of times that Luke had to go out of town for work or a guys weekend, Cash & I stayed with my parents…embarrassing, but true. I'm a total morning person & so is Cash. Luke, on the other hand, forget about it! ha! There are even more similarities from your list, too! So fun!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!! And I can relate so much.
Now that I think about it… I am pretty sure my husband and I have only been on a plane once or twice together since we were married. How funny, I never thought about it until you mentioned it!
I have a TOTAL sweet tooth! I would eat ice cream every night in bed if I could get away with it!
I like being in the house alone during the day but HATE HATE HATE staying in the house alone at night, especially over night.
Target is TOTALLY my happy place too! Hey you could have more expensive store obsessions… I mean Nordstrom isn't cheap! haha.
I LOVE a planner too. Especially a paper planner! And I have a million to do lists everywhere. I love crossing things off the list!
I love country music too! But only started listening to it slightly before college. Before that it was pop all the way!
I also love my phone… a little too much I'm embarassed to admit. That and blog reading!
    Happy, happy birthday friend!!! xo

Happy birthday! I love that you were the president of your sorority in college! Sororities aren't really a thing here in Canada and so I don't know very much about them… other than what the show Greek taught me. They have always fascinated me. I always thought that had I grown up in the states I would definitely want to join one. What was it like?

Happy birthday! I can't stand it when people ask me if we are going to try for a boy either! We have three girls (a two year old and almost 6 month old twins) and I feel like saying to people "I adore my girls… Why would I try for a boy?" When they say that! Not to mention we are sooooo done have kids (the twins were a surprise and I'm 40!) but more power to you if you go for 4!

  23. September 6, 2015 / 1:07 am

Happy Belated Birthday! I'm with you 100% on #13 😁 I've definitely packed up my dog and my babe and stayed the night at my friends house as a 32 year old woman while my husband was away overnight at a conference because I knew I would be too freaked out to sleep at home! Love your blog 🙂
