If baby girl sticks to the plan, Mother’s Day will be our last official holiday as a family of three!  I am really excited to celebrate all the moms in my life, last year we were out of town for my sister’s graduation & didn’t get to see everyone on the actual holiday.  My mom, mother-in-law, & grandmother all live close to us, and Waverly adores them, so we are definitely planning to go all out this time!
As for me, I know its almost been three years, but sometimes I am still caught off-guard that I am actually old enough to be a mom.  Yet now that I’m about to have two kids, it’s more legit than ever, so I might as well take advantage of the holiday, right?!  My hubby asked me the other day what I had been wanting (happy wife, happy life!), so honey, if you are reading, here are a few things I have had my eye on as of lately.  You can take your pick. 😉
Bathing Suit, Birkenstocks, Vases, Pillow, Book
Bathing Suit – I love that both my babies will have summer birthdays, both my husband & I do too, and summer is such a fun time to celebrate in general!  What I am not looking forward to is somehow fitting my postpartum body into a swimsuit, hashtag – itsnotgoingtobepretty.  I was able to avoid it with Waverly since she was born at the end of July, I know that’s not going to be the case this time since it will be a couple months earlier & we have a toddler who loves water (and will definitely still need to be entertained!).  The good news is that I already embraced the one-piece last year, there are a ton of cute options out there that provide extra coverage for bending down after your babes or because your stomach just isn’t even close to being back to normal.  Other than the one above, I also love this one & this one (on sale!).
Birkenstocks – I know that these are one of those trends that you either love or hate, but I confess, I am dying for a pair!  I recently got a pair of knock-offs from Target in gold, they are the most comfortable shoes ever & I want to wear them every single day.  Plus, they allow for swelling! 😉
Vases – I feel like I am in “nesting” mode all the time just in general anyways, so pregnancy is really sending me over the edge!  I have already cleaned every corner & closet in the house (like really, nothing is safe!), and now am on to restyling our mantle & entryway table.  I love these vases, they are so simple and sweet at the same time.
Pillow –  I have the biggest obsession with pom-poms & tassels right now, both in fashion and interior design.  They somehow just make everything more fun!!  I wear a ton of color all the time, but when it comes to picking out things for the house, I tend to stick to neutrals.  I really want to add some pops of color without being over the top, & am loving this pillow for our living room!
Book – Other than the books on growing to a family of four I read recently, I seriously don’t remember the last time I read something just for fun.  I love Molly Simms, both her style & that she is a new mom of two, so I definitely think this would be a good read … possibly during some late-night nursing sessions I have in my future?!
And just for fun, a picture of my little dancer during our donut date before her class this weekend!  She is loving dance so much, we both look forward to it!  My favorite part is when all the little girls run out to reunite with their mamas, they are so excited & Waverly practically knocks me down each time with a hug when she sees me! 🙂  Her “first recital” is in June, I might just die from the cuteness.
Happy halfway through the week!

Dress:  TJ Maxx, Jewelry:  Rocksbox

Size of Baby Brickner:  A coconut, baby girl is growing & so am I!  A sweet little girl at school the other day said, “wow, you look like you are going to pop”, it was the day after I got the favorite comment of pregnant ladies everywhere, “it’s gotta be any day now, right?”.  No, actually five more weeks, thanks. 😉

Maternity Clothes:  Dresses of all kinds, maxis are a go-to since my other dresses are getting shorter by the minute.  I’m really not trying to be that scandalous pregnant girl, but the bump is just getting bigger & therefore, the dresses are getting smaller!
In other fashion news, I am super excited to be working with Rocksbox, a website dedicated to borrowing jewelry before you buy it!   Rocksbox insiders are sent a box of jewelry each month with the option to borrow, buy, or swap it at any time. I love, love the idea of this!  I can sometimes be a indecisive shopper, especially when it comes to jewelry since I don’t wear that much of it, so I feel like buying it is a really big commitment.  I was able to take a “style test” online before they sent me my first box, & ended up loving all three pieces that they sent me!  I have worn this bracelet almost everyday since, it’s so versatile & I have gotten so many compliments.

I’m excited to share the other pieces very soon, the earrings ended up being perfect for my maternity photos! If you are interested, you can try it out yourself, sign up here & use the code vbschoolsxoxo for your first month free!
Best Moment This Week:  Packing our hospital bags, putting baby girl’s first outfit in there was so exciting! I wondered if the feelings would be the same even though this is our second time doing all of this, yet they totally are (maybe even more since we know what to expect now).  Waverly asked this week if her baby sister would be staying a while, “yes honey, forever.”  Pure craziness.

Miss Anything:  The same stuff, my body is literally a train wreck by the end of a long day.  Sleep is hit or miss, the peeing thing really makes for an eventful night & I have never been good at falling back asleep once I am up.  I do know, & remember well, this is all just preparing me for those newborn nights ahead!!

Movement:  I had a day where I hadn’t felt her much, & of course I freaked out so I ended up with a non-stress test at my doctor’s office.  Thankfully she moved during the test, especially after I drank some water & ate something.  I have another test this afternoon just to be on the safe side, but of course I have felt her a ton since then, so I already feel so much better!

Cravings:  Sweets all the way!!!  Other than dessert, my appetite is so weird, trying to pick what I want to eat is still very much a challenge lately.

Queasy or Sick:  A few migraines, but feeling good!

Looking Forward To:  Am I allowed to say meeting baby girl yet?!! 🙂  Really though, our baby-que is this weekend & I am really excited to celebrate our newest addition with sweet family & friends, and so thankful for my mom, sister, & other family members who are helping plan this for us!
Happy week ahead!

Happy Friday!!  It’s hard to believe that we one only have one week of April left, or that my maternity leave officially begins next Friday!  This year is flying by, I definitely can’t keep up!

It’s been a week full of sunshine for us, we have spent most of our afternoons outside soaking it all in!  We unfortunately found a warm weather staple that Waverly does not love, she has an overwhelming fear of the ice cream man & is not ashamed to show it.  If she even hears the music in a distance, she bolts to me, leaps in my arms, & will hide her face until I somehow convince her that he is gone.  Part of me loves that she is scared of the random stranger in the truck, while the other part is seriously sad that I can’t go get one of those red, white & blue bomb pops (you know the ones, right?!).

While we were outside the other afternoon, the ice cream man couldn’t be heard, thankfully, Waverly was running after our dog & fell.  She was pretty upset about it, & there was a small red mark, but she usually recovers pretty quickly so I figured this would be no different.  That was until thirty minutes later, when she had to call everyone in my phone to tell them that “she had broke her leg”.  My husband was lucky enough to get a ten minute voicemail about it, including a description of why she could no longer walk (right before she was running through the backyard pushing her babies in their stroller).  For the record, I have no idea where she gets her dramatics from. 😉

Warm weather fashions are my favorite, it is so much easier to pick out clothes when they don’t involve layers upon layers.  I’ve had my eye on so many pretty spring & summer dresses for both my girls lately, this one is currently on it’s way & I can’t wait!  And I was so excited that I was able to squeeze this one on Waverly for one more wear before we pass it on to baby sister (similar here).  I love, love white on little girls & I am obsessed with anything embroidered, so this piece is definitely one of my all-time favorites.

In food news, I am craving all things sweet right now, & basically only eating meals to get to the dessert.  I’m pretty sure I mentioned this cake last year around this time, it is seriously the most amazing thing ever & too perfect for this time of year!  Waverly helped me make it this time, it’s so easy (which is another reason I love it) so it’s definitely toddler-friendly! 🙂
The ingredients are angel food cake (I just buy one already made), sherbert, vanilla ice cream & cool whip.  Take chunks of the cake & put in a cake pan, then pour the melted ice cream & sherbert on top before putting it the freezer.  After about an hour, take it out & cover with the cool whip, then put it back in the freezer until it’s completely frozen.  Seriously, it’s so, so good!

My parents got Waverly a trampoline for Christmas & she has loved it ever since, but now that we can actually use it more, I’ve decided that it is the best thing has ever happened to us (besides the girls).  We don’t go a single day without using it, Waverly will jump for what feels like forever, & then some more.  Best toddler entertainment ever, & perfect for tiring them out for bedtime!

We are crossing our fingers that the weather stays warm the next couple of days, we have our family maternity pictures this weekend!  I hope to share some good ones soon!  Wishing you a very happy one!

Happy halfway through the week friends, hope you all are having a great one!!  Even though we are now three days out from it, I’m still dreaming of our past weekend over here, it was such a good one & I hated to see it go!  We didn’t have much planned (don’t those always turn out to be the best?), the weather was perfection & we took full advantage.  Waverly Maye decided to boycott naps, it was a slight disaster come late Sunday afternoon, yet it gave us extra time to spend together while getting some things done around the house, both which made me very happy! 🙂
It got warm enough for our first beach day of the year on Saturday, I was so excited to take Waverly since other than walks, she really hadn’t been there since early last fall.  I’m also trying to fit in as many trips now as I can, though I am definitely planning to try, I don’t know how realistic it is to take a toddler & newborn there once baby girl gets here!  I guess only time will tell, I’m hoping we can make it happen with some family members & their extra hands to help with what I’m sure what will be a traveling circus!
Our outdoor girl certainly didn’t miss a beat after a few months away, she still loved the sand & water every bit as much as she did last year, maybe even more!!  The water was a little cold but it didn’t phase her, she was splashing & skipping through it like it was nothing, and then putting her face directly in it before laughing hysterically.  I could look at these pictures of her forever, she is so full of energy & happiness, one of the many things I adore about being her mama is living life again through her eyes.

In other highlights of the weekend, one of my best friends had her second baby girl Friday morning!!  Her oldest daughter is about a year younger than Waverly so it’s been really fun to go through this pregnancy with her. I can’t believe we will have four girls between us within the next couple of months!  I was able to visit her at the hospital a couple of times, there’s nothing like a trip to the maternity floor to serve as a reality check that we will be there before we know it!  So exciting (& crazy)!!

And lastly, a recent Waverly Maye development that’s had us on toes more than ever.  Ever since the weather warmed up, I’ve been letting Waverly go into the backyard & jump on the trampoline while I clean up in the kitchen or get dinner started.  I love that we can do that now since my husband put the fence in & she can’t go anywhere, I just leave the screen door open & listen to her play.  A couple of weeks ago, she had been out there a few minutes when she walked in with her big girl panties in her hand & said “I peed outside because I am a doggie”.  OMG.  She literally squatted in the backyard like our lab does.  I have obviously tried to explain to her that she’s not a dog & that we pee in the potty inside, but ever since if I even turn my head for a minute, she is bent down peeing.  Here’s to hoping this is a phase, there is no doubt our neighbors really think we have lost it now.  As for us, it’s hard not to laugh & look forward to telling her all about this one day.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Dress, TJ Maxx
Size of Baby:  A cantaloupe, my books says that on average, baby girl should weigh about 4 & a half pounds now!!  I’m getting so anxious & ridiculously excited to see her sweet face.  By this point with Waverly, we had a recent ultrasound & this time, we haven’t had one since 20 weeks and it’s killing me!  We considered paying for a 4D one just to be able to see her, but ultimately decided to save the money since we will be meeting her so soon.  I’ve totally wanted to go back on that decision about fifty times! 🙂

Maternity Clothes:  I’m still living in anything stretchy & comfortable, mainly dresses since even my maternity leggings are tight as this point.  I bought some new pajamas that are just a nightie so I don’t have to wear shorts anymore to sleep (they were cutting off my circulation), & have worn them every single night since.  I was almost embarrassed when my husband saw them for about the twelfth night in a row, then I remembered I’m 34 weeks pregnant with his second kid.  Enough said. 😉

Best Moment This Week:  So much nursery progress, it actually looks like a real room now which is SO very exciting!!  I organized all of Waverly’s newborn & 3/6 months clothes into our new dresser, it was so surreal looking at the clothes again.  I can’t believe how itty bitty they are or that we will have another little girl to put them in so very soon!  My husband also finished the closet, plus we set up both the rug & put sheets on the bed!  We still have to hang frames on the walls & accessorize, but here is a look at the pallet wall my husband finished a few weeks ago!!

Miss Anything:  It’s pretty much the same as last week, the pains in my legs are still around & brutal, as well as a belly that is large, sore, & hard as a rock.  I have had so many braxton hicks lately that I’m starting to wonder if this little girl will be a arrive a little bit earlier than her sister (who was late & induced).  And don’t even get me started on my bladder, I literally can’t go thirty minutes without a trip to the bathroom. So yes, some of these parts of pregnancy make me miss having my body all to myself, but I really can’t complain too much, as always, I couldn’t feel luckier to have had two healthy pregnancies so far!

Movement:  Her movements have definitely slowed down & feel different, but when she does, it shakes my entire belly!

Cravings:  Smoothies, yogurt, ice cream.  And sleep. 😉

Queasy or Sick:  Other than the symptoms above, feeling good & excited as ever!!

Looking Forward To:  There are so many fun things to look forward to in the next couple of weeks, our maternity pictures next weekend & our baby-q the following one, then my maternity leave begins!!  By that point, I am sure I will be more ready than ever to slow down & spend some time as a family of three before the big day!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
