Size of Baby Brickner:  A pineapple!

Maternity Clothes:  Oh yes, all the time!  Even a few items I bought early on are starting to get tight on this big belly.  The shirt above is from Target, hoping to get some use out of it now & then once baby girl is here!

Best Moment This Week:  More Easter celebrating with Waverly, she is so much fun to do these kinds of things with right now!  And we got a few new baby girl purchases, a pair of the sweetest moccasins & her take-home outfit!  It’s getting real, friends.

Miss Anything:  I really try not to be a complainer, especially when it comes to pregnancy since I feel beyond fortunate to have had two healthy pregnancies so far, but this week has been really challenging for my body.  I woke up Monday morning with shooting pains down my right leg, I had a charlie horse that night (which I get often), so I thought it was a result of that or that I had just slept weird.  Long story short, they never went away & by Tuesday they had only gotten worse.  In addition to the pains, both my leg and foot were going numb on & off.  It definitely seems to be a textbook case of sciatica, which I never got with Waverly, but apparently this baby girl has found a spot she loves right on a nerve.  My doctor said that though it won’t affect the baby at all (which is ultimately what I care about most), it probably is here to stay & may continue to get worse, possibly even moving into the other leg.  So far that has been the case, especially after being on my feet at work & then coming to chase after a toddler. I’ve had several moments where I really could hardly walk (& convinced myself I would be in a wheel chair before long), but then others that I felt lots better.  So for now, I am taking it day by day & just feeling happy that baby girl is as healthy as ever!

Movement:  Her movement hasn’t changed at all, lots of kicks & rolls, I love them all!

Cravings:  I have a total sweet tooth lately, & the Easter candy is not helping it!

Queasy or Sick:  Other than my leg issues, feeling good – no nausea & that makes me happy.

Looking Forward To:  My spring break!!  It officially kicks off this Friday & I am super excited! We have plans for a one-night babymoon, nothing crazy but just a little getaway while my parents keep Waverly overnight.  We are also going to make a day trip to Ikea, it’s three hours away from us but we still need a dresser for the nursery & this one would be perfect! 🙂

Lastly, I feel like I share stories like these often, but they are exactly the things I want to remember one day.  As soon as our bedtime routine hits each night, Waverly wants to know exactly what we are doing the next day (planner like mama?).  The other night she asked & I told her about our Easter Egg Hunt, then of course I had to go through the list of people who were coming.  I told her Juliette was coming, she is my friend’s one month old daughter.  Waverly immediately asked if she could hold her & I said “probably, and you know who you are going to get to hold lots really soon, your baby sister!.”  Her eyes got huge, she had the happiest face ever, & she said, “I am SO excited”.  Seriously, I could have died.  Then she asked me (for about the tenth time) if she would be able to walk & then said “I think I’m going to text her right now.  Can I have her number?”.
Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Happy Friday, friends!!  I can’t even believe that today kicks off the last weekend in March, time is flying & I feel like I can’t keep up.  My pregnancy brain certainly isn’t doing me any favors, I have spent the last week ordering replacements for all my cards because apparently, I drove out of the parking lot from Waverly’s My Gym Class with my wallet on the hood of my car.  I spent a couple days trying to track it down & it seems to be the only thing that could have happened, though I was really trying to hold out hope that I would magically find it.  No such luck, instead it’s official, I’m losing my mind. 😉

In other news, Easter planning & celebrating is well under way!  Waverly Maye has a love/hate relationship with the holiday so far this year, she has a major fear of the Easter bunny (understatement), and is obsessed with anything to do with playing or hunting for eggs, especially when it results in candy.  We had our first hunt last weekend with her cousins, she was a little skeptical at first (I swear she thought the bunny was going to pop out at any moment), but then was totally down for anything when she figured out that she got to run endlessly & then eat all things sweet.

She got to take the biggest bucket of candy home from the hunt, which I have since hidden, after the meltdown of all meltdowns happened over the fact that she couldn’t have three bags of skittles for dinner.  Though letsbehonest, me & my recent sweet tooth just wanted to throw all mom judgement out the window and join her.

We are hosting our own hunt this weekend at our house, with some friends & their little ones!  Even though it’s supposed to get cold again & the weather won’t be the best for outside exploring, we are super excited to get the kids together.  It will be our second year in a row, so it’s so much fun to see how much the kids have grown since then, & also this year, so have the mamas!  Three of us are pregnant again, all due within a few weeks of each other. 🙂
We are going to do a brunch, an egg casserole and lots of sweets.  Waverly & I got a head-start this week with our favorite, funfetti cupcakes!

Some other recent favorites, my mom picked up baby girl a few sleepers & onesies this week, all from Carters.  Their entire site is 50% off right now, such a great time to stock up on basics that are affordable, I remember how fast we went through those with Waverly (& that really, it was all she fit into for quite a while).   Also, is it too soon to dream of actually wearing clothes with zippers again?!  These wide-legged jeans are the cutest, they would be perfect with a floral tank over the summer!  Lastly, a Waverly favorite, her umbrella (similar here).  All it takes is one raindrop & she insists on bringing it with us, a girl can never have too many accessories, right?

Happy, happy weekend!

It’s safe to say that hitting the third trimester & then the 30’s has officially put me in the omg, we really are about to have another human & need to get our shit together stage of my pregnancy.  I’m pretty sure that at this point with Waverly, we had a complete nursery & possibly even a packed hospital bag hanging on the door.  I promise we really do love baby girl two just as much & are equally excited for her arrival, having her big sister this time has just obviously made our preparation process look a whole lot different.  It’s no doubt been slower & a little less focused, but also, a whole lot cuter, as I witnessed this weekend when I walked into the nursery and saw Waverly assisting my husband “hammer” in the last few pallets on the wall.  She said, “mama, I am working hard for baby sissy”.
Now that we have most of the items purchased for the nursery, I’m trying to focus on all of the “gear” we need for when she arrives.  We definitely lucked out in the second babe being the same gender department, which is a really good thing because almost all of what we have is pink (I heard girl & got a little too excited).  I’ve put together a few of the items that we have decided are most important to get for baby two, things that we found through trial & error the first round, that we loved when Waverly was a baby, or that seem like they will make life run a little more smoothly as a family of four.
UppaBaby Stroller & Rumble Seat:  We have used this stroller since Waverly was born, it comes with two attachments, the bassinet that we used when she was an infant & then we transitioned to the seat at about six months.  For the most part, we love it & still do.  The only downfall has nothing to do with the actual stroller & everything to do with my wild child’s personality!  Waverly has never liked to be restrained, I can even remember us walking around when she was a couple months, we were holding her & using the stroller to hold the shopping bags (something we still do).  For that reason, I can’t justify spending a lot on a double stroller, yet at the same time, I can’t imagine not having one either.  We have decided on this attachment for Waverly to sit in when they are both riding, it doesn’t come with the best reviews, but for the price & the amount we will probably use it, it seems like a good fit.  Plus we can obviously still use it as a single stroller & who knows, we may have a child who likes that this time. 😉
Summer Dual Video Monitor:  We had a video monitor with Waverly but then switched to the Angel Care Movement & Sound Monitor when we moved her out of our room & into the crib, mostly because I was beyond paranoid of SIDS (like she may still be sleeping in our room if I didn’t find a monitor that detected it).  We love the monitor & still plan to use it in the baby’s room, but I LOVE the idea of being able to watch both girls on video.  Obviously for safety reasons, and also, the thought of actually knowing what Waverly does in her room when she is supposed to be sleeping is just way too tempting.
Tommy Tippee Bottles:  Even though I plan to breastfeed again, we obviously still need bottles for when I am working or the possible one night we may ever go out again … 😉  We used these with Waverly & loved them, I just threw them all out after she turned a year since I felt like that was something we didn’t need to reuse.
Solly Wrap:  I am super excited about my solly wrap, not that I have ever used it, but it looks damn cute sitting in our nursery right now & I have read so many great reviews.  We had both the ergo & moby wrap with Waverly, I posted my thoughts on both here if you are interested.
Breast Pump:  Oh, the breast pump.  Definitely the one baby item I am least excited to see again, especially since I know how much time we will be spending together during the months to come.  I breast-fed Waverly for a year (you can read about our experience here), I loved the process of feeding her so very much, I just hated that damn pump.  As a working mom, I had it with me so often that it became a part of my identity, & simply put, left me very little freedom ever.  I could go on & on about my thoughts on this subject, yet ultimately, I am so happy that the process worked for us because that really is what mattered most to me. I can only hope that the same goes for round two, we are ordering a second pump, only because insurance covers it 100% and from experience, I know the efficiency of the pump really plays a big part in how much milk you continue to supply.

I hope this is helpful to some of you, I know how much I loved reading lists like this when I was pregnant the first time & still do.  I plan to include some more favorites soon, things that we already have & plan to reuse again, it’s amazing how much of a lifesaver some of these products can be.  And in the meantime, a picture of baby Waverly, was she really ever that small?!

Happy halfway through the week!

We made it, ten weeks left & on to counting down in the single digits! 🙂

Size of Baby Brickner:  A cabbage.  My book says she is about three pounds & will gain half a pound each week from here on out.  I love that she is getting so big & can’t wait to see her sweet face soon!

Maternity Clothes:  My parents were so sweet to buy me a dress this week for our spring maternity pictures, it’s from Asos & I love it, can’t wait to share it soon!  I am hoping that this will be my last maternity fashion purchase for this pregnancy, though we definitely don’t plan on this being our last baby, I kind of hate spending money on maternity clothes, especially during the third trimester.  My biggest fashion tip (that I feel like I did a whole lot better with this time around), is to buy as a little “maternity” stuff as possible & instead try to get by with things bought in bigger sizes that you love, that still make you feel like you, & that you can wear again later.

Best Moment This Week:  We haven’t officially told Waverly her sister’s name, though I really want to, only because she repeats everything these days.  My husband & I refer to her by name all of the time though (obviously when Waverly is around), I just didn’t think she had caught on since we always call her “baby sister” or “sissy” when talking with her about it.  Then the other day we were playing with sidewalk chalk & I wrote Waverly’s name on the street, & right after she asked me to write her sister’s name (with her actual name), like it was was nothing.  Not only did it confirm that she officially picks up on everything, but it was the sweetest sound coming out of her mouth.  I cannot wait to see these girls together!

On a side note, I know it’s annoying (especially to those around us), that we haven’t shared her name. It has been way harder to keep quiet this time, since with Waverly we were between two names & this time we have been sure for months.  Honestly, I love a good surprise & if I was cool enough to wait to find out the gender I would, so I feel like this is the next best thing.  Also, I know both my husband & I love the name, that it fits our family & what we want for our daughter, and that really is all that matters to us.  Maybe it sounds bad, but we really don’t want to hear advice or thoughts on her name, & know that if we wait until her sweet little self is here, we won’t have to.
Miss Anything:  Feeling really good this week, tired by the end of the day, but good! 🙂

Movement:  ALL the time!

Cravings:  Ice cream & colored sprinkles, maybe because it’s getting warmer out?!

Queasy or Sick:  I had my glucose test this week (& passsed!), so I know others can relate, that drink made me absolutely nauseous.  Yet other than that, no complaints!

Looking Forward To:  Our Easter Egg Hunt this weekend & other holiday celebrations with Waverly Maye! Also, this is the last two weeks of school before my SPRING BREAK, I am super excited to have a week off to spend quality time with my oldest girl & to get some more items checked off our to-do list!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that Waverly Maye had her first official dance class last weekend!!  It was a really big moment for us, Waverly loves to dance, she is moving all the time anyways & then as soon as she hears any type of beat she starts circling the room making sure everyone is watching her.  We recently found a place that would take her even though she isn’t three yet, most of the places around here won’t take little ones that early but this dance studio agreed to since she is officially potty trained now! 🙂
Part of me was nervous, she has been in a my gym class since she was six months old and we have done gymnastics, but both are mommy & me so she has never done anything that structured or without me there.  Also, Waverly is outgoing as they come, but is sometimes shy when she first meets someone or is a new situation.  I wasn’t sure if she would even go in without me or last the hour if she did.  Yet she shocked me (don’t they always?!), ran right in without looking back & had the absolute best time.  I sat right outside the door even though I couldn’t see anything, at one point the room was quiet & then I heard Waverly’s voice yell out “do you have all about that bass & will you play it really loud?”.  Yep, my kid.  Overall, it was so much fun & I am already looking forward to her dance recital in a few months!
We have recently been trying to figure out what we are going to do with both girls in the fall, we know we want to send Waverly to preschool at least part-time & we have quickly learned those spots fill up way in advance (like maybe I should book baby girl now?!).  I know Waverly will love it, plus I really want her to be around other kids her age & to have something all of her own once her world is rocked by a little sister.  I toured a school this week, which I immediately fell in love with & know Waverly will fit in perfectly there.  As soon as the director mentioned themed holiday parties and field trips, I knew we had met our match. 😉  I’m sure other moms can relate, it’s hard enough to leave your kid anyways, so it feels really good to find a place that I feel comfortable with & that overall, just feels right.
And because it’s Friday, a few things I have had my eye on this week!  This dress, it is such a steal & fits perfectly with the bump plus can be worn after.  I’m excited to wear it all summer long!  I also finally got curtains for the nursery, I went with all white blackout ones, then got these gold knobs for a fun pop on either side.  And a fun treat for Easter, this bark that would be super easy & fun to make with the little ones!
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
PS – Waverly’s leotard and bow are from H&M, the bow is actually from the adult accessories section which is where I always find cute bows for super cheap. 🙂
