Being Brickner : 26 Weeks

26 Weeks

Size of Baby Brickner:  The size of a turnip, my pregnancy book says she is two pounds & can open her eyes, getting so big, so quickly!

Maternity Clothes:  Lots of comfy clothes this week, since it has been absolutely freezing & we have had lots of time at home!  The striped top above is actually a maternity dress from Asos, I just pulled it up & gathered it, I'm hoping it will get warm enough to actually wear it as a dress before I deliver in June!

Best Moment This Week:  My unexpected week off of work & at home with Waverly Maye, thanks to the snow!  We definitely had our moments after being stuck inside for so long (cabin fever is totally a thing with a two-year old), but overall, it was so much fun having so much extra time together!

Miss Anything:  Being able to play (physically) with Waverly like I used to.  I wasn't going to post about this, because honestly, the whole situation scared the hell out of me & really upset me, but then I figured that I couldn't be the only pregnant mom of a toddler that this has ever happened to,  Last week Waverly jumped on me, specifically my belly, with ALL of her weight.  She was completely just playing & didn't mean to at all, but it was so hard that it took my breath away for a couple of minutes.  I felt our baby girl move A LOT right after it happened (she was probably shocked), but then not again for over three hours.  We were getting ready to leave for the hospital to check on her when my friend (thankfully) reminded me to try to drink apple juice to wake her, so I did, & she immediately started kicking within a couple of minutes.  We have since been to the doctor & everything is fine, we are so thankful!  I know it has to be hard for Waverly to understand that we can't play exactly like we used to, especially as I get bigger & it gets even harder, and that makes me sad for her.  Yet she loves her baby sister so much already, I know all of this will be WELL worth it for all of us!!

Movement:  Thankfully, YES!  Lots! :)

Cravings:  I am loving Chinese food lately, & granola bars.  Maybe together?!

Queasy or Sick:  Feeling GOOD!

Looking Forward To:  A dinner out this weekend to celebrate my good friend's birthday, & one of my other best friends had her baby girl this week!  Waverly hasn't met the baby yet since I didn't want to bring her to the hospital, but I can't wait for her to meet her in person!  Also, were our babes ever that little?!!!!  It is SO hard for me to think of Waverly that size, even though it was only two years ago.

  2. I have definitely had a few scary moments with Caleb! He's accidentally kicked me in the stomach while lying in bed - hard - and it hurt! And I've had to be extra careful while playing lately because he does love jumping and bouncing and can't understand that Mommy can't do those things right now. So you are not alone, Mama! I think our little buns in the oven are more resilient than we'd expect. Otherwise, no one would be able to have more than one child;) But it's still hard not to worry!

    Looking adorable, Mama! :)

  3. Beautiful mama & belly! I love seeing your bump photos because we carry our babies drastically differently. Mine looks like Finn could slip out any day! ;-)

  4. Brr, it's been so cold. Glad y'all are staying warm and glad that y'all were able to be with Waverly. I can imagine how scary that situation was, and I'm glad you blogged about it, because you may help someone else that will have it happen in the future.

    You look fabulous as always!

  5. Looking great! That's what I'm so scared of with a second pregnancy. Noah likes to jump on both of us and I will feel so bad when I can't play like we normally do. Then I remind myself that I'm sure this happens to everyone and it's been okay. Glad to hear you went to the doctor and your mind is at ease now :)

  6. You're looking amazing girlfriend! I know it is so scary when our kiddo's don't quite understand they are rough housing and instead think they are just being cute and super affectionate. We've had many moments here where Lily has just completely bounced and jumped on the bump. The scariest was when I was freshly pregnant. My husband always reminds me how padded the amniotic sac is. I mean it is meant to protect the baby after all. Doesn't take the nerves away, I know!

  7. Oh momma, that was a scary moment! I would have been so worried about baby BUT I think our bodies are made to withstand toddlers because it's true, they don't know better! Just like newborns are so flexible and resilient because their toddler siblings love to carry them and drag them around the house and drop them the ONE second we aren't looking, ha!
You look amazing!! So glad you had so much time at home last week!

  9. You look so great!
I'm so worried Marcus is going to do the same thing to my stomach. I had no idea about the apple juice though - good to know!!

  10. I know exactly how you must have felt... Having a toddler and being preggo is hard for both parties. And it is still hard once the newest babe enters the world because big sis is not going to realize she can't "play" with the baby either... We had a few incidents while I was pregnant and after Crew was born. Charli LOVES him SO much and just wants to play with him all the time but she didn't understand that he can't actually "play". She thought she was being good and funny and literally poked him (pretty hard) right in the eye (literally an hour after coming home from the hospital)... Needless to say, our reaction was probably not the best either and it freaked Charli out and that is when she built up a resentment towards me and wouldn't kiss me, hug me, talk to me... For TWO days... It was awful :(. Thankfully she learned very quickly and has been "pretty" good (using the term loosely here) since! FYI- Second Child Syndrome is totally a thing! haha!

  11. Ah, so scary!!! I have had a few of those moments and sometimes she moves SO much that I'm afraid she's stuck or something!! I feel like I am constantly reminding Cam not to kick while I'm changing him or that I can't carry him down the stairs anymore...I know they are well protected in there, but it still scares the crap out of me!! I am so glad you're feeling well...I asked Chad to make me an Asian dinner the other night, too...I am not usually a fan, but it tasted so good!!! :)

  12. So scary! Mac used to kick me in the belly ALL THE TIME while I was changing his diaper when I was pregnant with Mim. I know he didn't mean to (well, maybe he did), but I had to stop because it would scare me so badly.

  13. oh gosh that is scary! So glad everything worked out and that you felt her moving again...that striped dress made to look like a shirt, genius!

  14. you look so great...and the whole "playing" thing at the late stage of pregnancy was so hard for me too! I hated that I couldn't get down in the floor and play without aching & it taking 20 minutes to get up! I think those scary moments happen to every 2nd time momma...toddler don't seem to understand the whole concept of fragile.

  15. You look great! I've definitely been there with Ez jumping on my belly during this pregnancy. Thankfully not full-on or full-weight yet, but I have to constantly remind him to stay off my belly, which makes me sad. Even cuddling isn't that comfortable anymore. So glad everything worked out alright for you! That must've been scary.

  16. my two jump on me all the time and i can't figure out how to convey to them that it's not a good idea. i always tell them that mommy can't play rough because of the baby in mommy's belly. it convinces them for about 30 seconds.
i asked my doctor about it and she said that it'd hurt ME much before it'd hurt the baby (to a point). but it's still worrisome!

  17. The cutest, you two!!!! Can I steal Waverly's hat?! ;)

  18. I worry about that also. Abigail is older so she does understand to be gentle with me but it took a lot of reminders and warnings to get her to that point. I just tell her to save all her energy for daddy- and they basically wrestle all night lol.

  19. I'm sure that was so scary for you. Glad all three of you girls are okay!

  20. How fun for you to have snow days and spend that time with Waverly! I understand about not being able to play the same... it's so hard to not be able to lay on the floor and play like we used to. I'm glad you and baby are okay though! That would be a little scare for sure!

  21. That is scary. I fell at work with Alexander, was rear-ended at a stoplight with Lucas, and slipped on ice with this one The doctor said the baby was fine all three times because they are so protected. It is scary.

  22. I know how you feel about the playing. I am almost 33 weeks pregnant with twins and my daughter is almost 21 months. I feel so bad that I can't pick her up all the time and even rock her because my belly is in the way. It's so sad to me.
My sister just had a baby 2 months ago and I couldn't get over how small she looked when she was first born. I can't believe my daughter was ever that small and I can't belive I'm going to have two more babies that small in a matter of weeks!!

  23. man oh man, Rae would propel herself into me ALL THE TIME when I was pregnant and now she's all over miss Aubrey. It's so harmless on her behalf, but I always have to remind her to be gentle. You look great girl!

  24. First of all you look great, time is flying! Second of all, I have always thought about that when I see Mom's that are preggo with toddlers... I'm glad she started being a soccer queen again soon afterwards!! :)

  25. You look wonderful! So glad that all is well with sweet baby #2! That can be such a scary thing, especially when they don't realize what they're doing. Enjoy your week!

  26. Oh my! I'm so glad your baby is okay. It always takes a sweet friend to grab us my the shoulder (even via telephone) and pull us out of a terrifying spiral.
