Baby Brickner #2

First, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts - for both your sweet well wishes & congrats on baby #2!  We truly are overwhelmed with love, being able to share what we have been so excited about has been so much fun & I really can't thank you enough or explain how much your support means to us.

Both my husband & I are from families with four kids, we have always been vocal about wanting a big family of our own so I know that for some (like my mom), this announcement was long-awaited.  Keeping it real though, it took a while for me to really be able to wrap my mind around another babe.  Even though I have always known that we definitely wanted more, it wasn't until very recently that I completely felt ready to start growing our family again.  We decided at the beginning of the summer that we would enjoy every moment together as a family of three (especially with Waverly Maye at such a fun age!!) & plan to start trying for baby two in the fall.  We are beyond thankful & feel so blessed that it happened so quickly, Waverly & her brother or sister will be one month away from three years apart!

We found out early, like crazy early. I just didn't feel right, after a couple days of heightened smells (even while passing the Starbucks at Target, my biggest giveaway) & weird, restless leg cramps at night I decided to take a test.  I thought it was still way too early so I really didn't give much thought to it, it was really, really early in the morning before work one day & my husband was fast asleep.  The "yes" showed up right away, I freaked out while running into the pitch black room waving the test back & forth screaming at him.  He thought that someone had broken into the house & jumped out at me in the bathroom, not quite the cute announcement I had planned (AT all), yet neither was that time I found out I was pregnant with Waverly & threw the test at his face.  I guess that's just our thing. ;)  We told close family members over the next couple of weeks but have mainly kept quiet since which has been hard, especially because of this bump, which I am convinced looks like my 20-week bump when I was pregnant with Waverly.

Will we find out the gender?!  Um, YES!!  I have so much respect for people who wait but I am just not that cool, if there was a way to find out the day I saw the positive pregnancy test I would have been all about it.  We truly will be ecstatic either way!  In the week since sharing our news, so many people have asked if we are hoping for a boy. We would definitely love to have a boy at some point, to experience the best of both worlds & also, I think I would really have fun dressing a little man!  My younger brother & I are three years apart, same distance that these two babes will be, & we have the best relationship.  On the other hand, we adore having a little lady & would love for Waverly Maye to have a sister.  My sister & I are so close, there really is no relationship like it. :)  With that being said, we both have a feeling what this babe is, the same feeling, so I guess only time will tell.  We can't wait to find out!

I am one of those weird girls who loves being pregnant & I am confident that it will be no different this time, but the last couple of months have been pretty rough.  I was sick throughout my first trimester with Waverly too, yet this time seems way worse, I can't decide if I really feel worse or if it's the toddler I'm running after that is the difference-maker.  Exhaustion isn't even the word, most days I am a complete zombie & have felt hungover for about 8 weeks straight.  Yet not a moment goes by that I don't think it's worth it, we truly are beyond excited for this baby & all of the fun (plus craziness) that is to come!!  It almost seems more surreal this time now that we know what we get in the end, our hearts are so full right now & we can't wait to meet this babe or to see Waverly in her new role as big sister!
XO

  1. Your bump is so precious! Congrats again!

I grew up one of three, so I still want a big family, God willing. But, I might need to get started soon, haha.

ps.com I'm 100% sure I"ll be a pregnancy test thrower too, it's just how me and my husband operate.

  3. So, so happy for you guys! And right there with you, Mama - in more ways than one. My 15 week bump looks a lot bigger than I remember it looking with Caleb. And the sickness this time around? Whew. Not for the faint of heart. I think having toddlers to chase after definitely makes it a bit harder on us this time around, though so that's got to account for some of it, lol! Can't wait for more pregnancy updates and am so excited to be prego together!:)

  10. Love your bump! I was so exhausted in the beginning with #2 but I felt great in my third trimester and had very little swelling or fatigue which I attribute to chasing a toddler around! I think it paid off in the end

  11. Our pregnancies sound so similar this far! Much rougher the 2nd time around, but I still love being pregnant too! Hope the 2nd trimester starts treating you well!

  12. I am so so so excited for you guys! And I swear everything is bigger and just worse the second time! But I'm also not sure if that's due to toddler exhaustion? Regardless you look ADORABLE!

  13. you are so cute! And the 3 year age gap is perfect! Waverly can be helpful and listens to directions so you don't have to worry as much when they wonder away from eyesight while feeding and you can't get up. And yes to the exhaustion, I think it's because you are running after a toddler and you can just veg out in front of the tv for hours on end.

  15. This is so great to hear! We sooo want another baby, but I think God will let us know when He's ready for us to give Marli a sis or bro. So excited for you and I would not be cool enough to wait until birth to find out the gender. Were you offered the Jack and Jill test? My doc offered it to me really early in the pregnancy to see if it was a boy/girl and he said the results were like 99.9% accurate. I might do this with the next one hehe

  18. Awww :) :) Our 2nd pregnancies are sounding quite similar. Lily and this baby will only be a few short months shy of exactly three years apart and I have been so very sick with this pregnancy too. Very exciting! Can't wait to follow along on ya'll's journey and be preggo buddies together! :)

  20. So happy for you:) my kids are one month shy of being 3 years apart too. As she gets more independent, it is nice to have her help with the baby or to just keep herself occupied every now and then. She adores her baby brother. And I loved bring pregnant both times (minus the last 2 weeks of the second round!) and yeahhh the bump grows much faster too! Open cardigans, leggings and boots from oct- march for me...best uniform ever! Enjoy it all. I can't wait to hear if it will be a brother or sister!

  26. Congratulations! Such an exciting time! Looking forward to reading your journey round 2! No doubt Waverly will be the best big sister!

  27. Congrats!! That is the cutest bump pic!! A boy would be so nice, to have one of each! Sisters would be awesome too!! I don't know what I'd do without mine! Pregnancy is rough when you have a little one to take care of! It is exhausting, but it gets better. My 3rd pregnancy (my girl) came with sickness in the beginning and that was miserable, but it passes. I wasn't very pleasant that summer though lol. I give Marc some credit for putting up with my moodiness in that first trimester! xo

  30. Look at that bump!! So cute! I've heard that you pop earlier the second time around. I'm kind of nervous for that because I can't imagine being bigger than I was with Mia, ha!
I am seriously soooo excited for ya'll! I'm still terrified of having another babe but to be honest, Mia is becoming so interested in babies (she talks about them ALL the time!) that it's helping me warm up to the idea of expanding our family! I hope you get feeling better ASAP!
