Tomorrow marks one week since our baby girl turned TWO, am I allowed to say that these have been the best days of her life as of yet?! Like usual, I am in love with this age & it may
just be my favorite so far. We have obviously had our moments, but I just can’t get enough of her growing vocabulary & how much of a little lady she is these days. I am so excited for what is to come!
Obviously, I’m also very excited to share details from Waverly’s party!! Honestly, most of the inspiration for her party came when I fell in love with this dress online. I really wanted her to wear something different than she normally does for her day, & this couldn’t have been more perfect. I loved all the feminine details & of course the gold, the light pink added to its sweetness!
I am so glad we took a few minutes before the party to get some pictures of Waverly & our family, we learned that the hard way. Even then, she was way too anxious to stay still & I really can’t blame her. 😉
For décor, I used mainly gold & white with splashes of pink – which worked out perfectly since a lot of it I can reuse for her big girl room soon! I did the same kind of photo garlands that I used for her first birthday, I just added gold circles this time that I cut out of gold paper from Micheals. They really are the best, easy to do, & you can use the photos afterwards. I did end up ordering this tissue paper garland
after attempting to make my own, they are totally not as easy as they look on Pinterest (is anything?). Also, I ended up going with this print
which I can’t wait to put in Waverly’s new room, it couldn’t describe her better!
It was important to me to have Waverly’s favorite foods there, even though just as I thought, she was too excited at the party to eat much of anything (kind of like my wedding day ;). So we ordered big subs and made edamame, goldfish & pasta salad. My favorite, my grandfather cooked some fries & used these french fry containers
which were so cute, I can’t wait to use them for other things soon!
For sweet treats, we did iced animal crackers, white-chocolate covered pretzels & “W” cookies for favors, all with gold sprinkles. We also had mini cupcakes & a cake for Waverly, which she didn’t eat until the very end of the party since she was partying too hard during it & also, too scared of the birthday song to sit down. Of course, she has been asking me to sing it everyday this week now, so at least we know it’s not a forever thing. Either that or she wants to extend her shining moment. 😉
And lastly, planning a few activities for her party was kind of challenge for me. Obviously the adults were well entertained on their own (with the kids & the alcohol), but I wanted a little extra something for the little ones. Our kids had a really wide variety of ages (from 10 months to 13 years), so it was hard to come up with something to please everyone. We ended up going with water, since Waverly loves it & since that’s something for all ages! We had a little pool, sprinklers, & water balloons. Also, a last-minute addition (& best one ever), a slip’n’slide that turned into Waverly’s dream come true. She must have dived into it (while laughing uncontrollably) 100 times in a row as we all stood around & clapped.
