Sweet Summertime

The countdown is on, today kicks off the final week of my school year!!  I remember being a kid & driving out of the school parking lot the last day of the year, the teachers circled our buses & waved, we sang songs the whole way home.  Each time, my stomache was full of butterflies with so many wonderful thoughts of all the fun we would have that summer.  It's safe to say that this Friday, my butterflies will be even better than those.  I cannot wait. :)

Last summer was obviously one of the best ever, we celebrated Waverly Maye turning one & I took advantage of all the extra time I got with my new baby girl.  It felt like a second maternity leave, with just a little more mama confidence this time. ;)  I could not feel luckier to be able to do it again, Waverly is now old enough that we really can do so much more & we definitely plan on it!  I have been spending the last few weeks daydreaming of all we have to look forward to & planning lots for us to get into, time seems to fly by so quickly & I don't want anything to pass us by.  I know what a special time this is & I really am so thankful.

We are getting season passes to both the zoo & our waterpark.  It will be our second year at the waterpark, we ended up getting them last summer after discovering the beach & a baby who liked to eat sand didn't really mix.  They were our best idea ever, we spent at least a few days there each week & Waverly loved it.  They have a whole kids area with shallow water, we would literally sit in it for hours on end.  We took Waverly for the first time this season over the weekend, to say she loved it is definitely an understatement.  I'm excited to share pictures soon. :)

We started swim lessons a couple of weeks ago at our recreation center, most of the kids were a little hesitant & held tight to their mamas.  As usual, Waverly was the wild one in class, she kept yelling "YAY!!!!" during the hokey-pokey, trying to take off to swim laps on her own &, on several occasions, tried to get out of the pool so that she could jump in from the side.  The lifeguard actually had to get off his stand at one point, I'm guessing that might be the first time he has ever had to do that.  We are so in trouble.

Since it has warmed up, we have also spent lots of time at the pool, with the hose, & of course, the beach.  I can't wait to do this with Waverly all summer long!

Waverly's Green Suit - ON SALE!
Other plans include to take a family trip, at some point go camping (I'm sure it would be the biggest hot mess ever, but also very memorable), & of course, the usual popsicles, water balloons, smores, & bubbles - all things I would file under key essentials for keeping a toddler happy.

Another reason to love summer, we have all three of our birthdays to celebrate & our third anniversary is at the end of this month!  Nothing makes me happier than all of this excitement & best of all, that I get to do it all with no interruptions & unlimited time with my girl.

As always, I am very open to suggestions on any of your must-haves or traditions for this season!  We hope that you are all enjoying the warm weather your way & that you had the best of weekends!
XOXO

  15. Yay! Sounds like you have a fantastic summer ahead! OMG. I know I say this all the time, but Waverly and Kaitlyn have the same wild child spirit! She's always the loudest, happiest kid in swim school! I don't just mean our class. I mean, like, compared to every other kid in the pool. lol. This weekend she would have just walked/jumped into the pool at our friend's place - but we all had to keep eagle eyes on her. lol. Can't wait for all your fun summer posts!

  24. A new follower here - I just found your blog. First of all, I LOVE that she went swimming with a headbow (headband + bow). My little one is eight months this week and just starting to get hair. It's coming in strawberry blonde and I am loving the pictures of your little one - wondering if Olivia's hair will be similar to Waverly's. :) She's just precious, and I can't wait to continue to follow along!
