It's The Little Things: Week Eight

Ever since I can remember, holidays have been a really big deal in my world.  I am the oldest of four, so we have always had a house full of chaos (the best kind, most days) & there was never a time more celebrated than a holiday.  My mom always made sure we felt special & that the day was different than any other, & the best, we had so many traditions passed on from year to year.  Many of those still continue now even though we are all in our 20s (I might be 30), & I am definitely the one out of the four of us who still gets the most excited for them.  My favorite to date would most likely be our matching PJs on Christmas Eve.  They even usually still have trees printed on them, I'm sure you can imagine how much my brothers (& new addition to the group, my husband) love that.

With my own family, I definitely still plan to carry on festive celebrations, both with some of the traditions my mom created for us & new ones, too.  My motto in life has always been to take advantage of special moments, to make the best out of everything you can, & I have found that even though it takes extra effort, it's usually always worth it.  This has never been more true than as a mom, I want Waverly Maye to look back on her childhood with the best memories just like I get to do now.

Headband
I really have cut down my crazy-planner ways lately (thanks to this link-up) & have let "little" moments happen on their own, but I felt that we could use St. Patrick's Day as an exception. ;) I knew I had to work Monday so I took advantage of the weekend by spending as much time as possible with my little leprechaun.  We made a themed-breakfast on Sunday morning & had family over, as Waverly gets older she is definitely more aware of out-of-the-ordinary mornings like these & loves them.  No doubt, she enjoyed the change in scenery & the addition of a few more people to smile at, to watch her dance around, & to applaud her for knowing where her eyes are.

We snuck in some time outside, Waverly was in the happiest of moods (she loves holidays, too) & must have ran from me to my husband 20 times in a row kissing us each time.  Can she please do that forever?!  I can never, ever get enough kisses from her or of hearing her say "mama" all day long. Even her "no, mama" that she has been throwing out lately is music to my ears.
I'm sure I will change my mind on the no thing one day, though.

That afternoon, my mom & I took Waverly to a St. Patrick's Day party at a kids gym (not the one we took a leave of absence from, leave it to me to find another one).  We had the best time, Waverly loved the indoor jungle gym so much that I'm thinking we need to put one in our living room for all the rainy, cold days we have been having lately.  She also loved the bubbles, was pretty much mesmerized by them & obviously, tried to eat them.  Because that's what toddlers do, right?!
Overall, it was a memorable day full of green, shamrock-shapes, & best of all, lots of love!!
Even if it was one day early.

Thanks again for another week, we continue to be so thankful & truly overwhelmed by so much participation each week!!  As a reminder to those of you who are interested in linking-up, all you have to do is write your post with whatever "little thing" it is that you would like to share. Then, link-up with either Jess or me at the bottom of this post! Feel free to download our logo (located at my sidebar) to share on your own post or on Instagram, you can also share your own photos of "little things" with the hash tag "littlethingslinkup".

Congratulations to Emily Janning for winning last week's giveaway, both a tutu & a matching hair clip from MegMade Designs.  This week, Cora from Ren and Boots is giving away two digital prints from her super cute shop!  Her quirky, unique designs are so fun & would be the perfect addition to your little one's nursery, playroom or bedroom!  Her prints are available as an instant download, which makes it easy & gives you the ability to print.  Good luck to you all, & be sure to check out Ren and Boots, thanks to Cora for supporting our link-up.
HAPPY Wednesday friends, we have made it halfway to another weekend!!

  3. I can't wait until next year when my daughter's old enough to enjoy fun holiday things like what you've done with Waverly. Also, I know I always say this, but I can't get enough of those sweet pictures of her! Of all the blogs I read, this is definitely one of my favorites for those doses of adorableness.

  5. She is just THE cutest! I hope to someday have a "house full" of children so that the holidays are crazy. I am an only child and that's probably why I want the opposite for our little Liv. I want her to be surrounded by brothers and sisters! God willing, we will have that for her! :)

  9. I seriously think Mason and Waverly must have been separated at birth lol. Your posts are always so close to what our life is like here! That picture of Waverly trying to eat the bubble is so cute! Mason hasn't tried to eat them yet but is FASCINATED by them and stares at them falling to intently. We too had green pancakes and green fruit for breakfast! So much fun! Happy (belated) St. Patty's Day!

  23. Okay I love that you celebrated SPD (it is my birthday). I just love this link up and am going to be a little late to the party this week. For some reason my grading of papers at school has taken over my life!

I have that same romper for Ellie and got another one in a larger size so she can wear it again next year.

Where is your top from? It's adorable!

  24. "...take advantage of special moments, to make the best out of everything you can, & I have found that even though it takes extra effort, it's usually always worth it. This has never been more true than as a mom…" - THIS. I totally get this now, more and more as Kaitlyn is growing with wonder and excitement each day as she learns new things. I grew up with very few traditions and special days. My parents were kind of the antithesis of that kind of stuff. I can't wait to make every holiday special1 Even the ones my hubs doesn't believe is a holiday! Waverly looks like she had the best day with mom and dad! So loved!

  26. Your baby is so so precious! And one of the finest young females I've seen on the blogosphere. That outfit is smashing! I love seeing kids that are close in age to my son. Interesting to see their similarities, yet that they each have a very distinct personality already. Fascinating!
