Trendy Tot Tuesday: Waverly's Weekend Wear (2)

It's Tuesday and time to talk fashion.  As always, thanks to Kelly, Megan, and Lindsey for hosting this weekly link-up.
I have officially started a countdown until summer break.
It's 33 days, including exams.  Just in case you were wondering.
With the conclusion to this school year in sight, thoughts of entire days with Waverly Maye at the beach, pool, zoo, & little gym are really all I can think about.  An entire 10 weeks as a SAHM?  This is totally why I became a teacher.  (And to change the lives of our youth, on a daily basis.  Obviously.)

Yet until then, I am going to continue living for the weekends.  And using them to soak in every last moment with my sweet baby girl.
1:  Onsie, Shoes - Similar (Hat& Overalls No Longer Available); 2:  Leggings & Shoes (Onsie & Hat from a Daily Deal on Zulily), 3:  Top, Jeans, Shoes, Hat - No Longer Available, (Scarf from H&M, Not Online)

1:  Friday Fashion:  We are LOVING this weather and want to take FULL advantage of it.  We kicked off the weekend with a walk in the neighborhood and this little lady couldn't have enjoyed it more.  Neither could her parents ...
Yep.  That's Bud Light with ice cubes.  Our beer was warm and so sometimes ... you gotta do what you gotta do.  Cheers to the weekend.

2:  Sick Saturday:  Since becoming a mom, I have quickly realized that there is nothing worse than a sick baby.  It is gut-wrenching.  And this past Saturday, we had just that.  Friday night Waverly woke up with a fever, a runny nose, and not herself at all.  Even mommy cuddles & a bath couldn't help.  We decided to take her to the doctor and thank goodness we did - our sweet girl had a double ear-infection, one in each ear.  Poor baby.  At least we found the issue and even the first dose of medicine made her significantly better.  After a good long nap & some of her favorite foods, Waverly Maye got some good much-needed sunshine.
3: Stylish Sunday:  Waverly was ready for some action on Sunday.  She was feeling SO much better, which made me feel so much better, too.  (And I was extra happy since I got to use the excuse of her sickness to bring her in bed with us all night long.)  Breakfast at Panera & some retail therapy was just what we needed.

Only four more days until another weekend.  And did I mention I only had 33 days left until summer break?  Just had to remind myself one more time. :)

Nine Month Update

Age: Nine Months

Height:  25 1/2 Inches

Weight:  17 lbs. 8 oz.

Milestones:  This little lady is changing by the day.  She is officially a mobile, interactive, and super curious baby girl - and definitely nothing like that newborn that we brought home nine months ago.  She can pull herself up and does just that on just about anything that she can get those little hands on.  Waverly is more vocal everyday and can now say both momma & dadda.  She will continuously repeat both, and at this point, our hearts still melt every time.  One of the cutest milestones so far?  Waverly now claps her hands when we clap ours.  It is so fun to watch her imitate and clearly understand what is going on around her.

Sleep:  Our sleep situation is still unpredictable.  We have had some nights of pure bliss (uninterrupted sleep), and others when she was literally up every hour.  On the hour.  Naps are another area that we could certainly use work on.  Since Waverly goes to quite a few different places each week, it is really hard to get her on a solid schedule.  We are so lucky to have family that can watch her everyday, but I am really looking forward to being off this summer and getting her on a routine.

Eating:  This girl LOVES to eat.  We have no problems getting her on a good meal schedule, and if anything, I'm pretty sure she would like to eat just about all day long (wouldn't we all?!).  Current favorites are the Gerber yogurts, Yogurt Melts, Puffs, Cinnamon Maple Wheels, and Mum-Mums.  Sense a theme?  She is a total sweets girl, just like her momma.  We are SUPER excited to start table food this month and see just what else those little taste buds crave.

Favorite Moments:  I have said it before and I'll say it again ... each month gets better & better.  Waverly now clearly has her own personality and it is SO much fun to watch it develop more by the day.  Her sweet laughs are contagious and I just can't help but be my happiest when I am around her (duh?!)  Some of her favorite things right now are being outside, playing with my IPhone, Ipad or any other technology, her Wub-Nub, and getting her hands on anything & everything.  A highlight of our week remains our Sunday morning class at our kids gym - Waverly lights up when the music comes on & just loves being around other kids.

Worst Moments:  I have been convinced about ten different times that Waverly Maye is teething.  It is seriously the joke of the house (that every time Waverly is less than 100% happy she has a tooth trying to poke through).  The only low moments of this month have been when she was "teething" for a few days.  All the signs where there and she was totally unlike herself, but it is now a couple of weeks later and she is back to normal and all toothless.

Extra Comments:  This has been such a big month for Waverly Maye.  We are having so much fun with her, and seriously can't stop talk about how wonderful she is.  Each month, we always say that it feels like the BEST age ever.  This one really does feel like it.  That is, until next month ...

Spring Cleaning & House Hunting

I have a love/hate relationship with cleaning.  Even though I obviously don't view it as a favorite past-time, I LOVE a clean, clutter-free house.  Have you seen hoarders?  I am the total, complete opposite.  To a fault.  I recently tried to throw away store my husband's box of childhood memories.
Total wife fail, I know.

I have certainly had to adjust my Type-A, obsessive need for clean since finding out we were pregnant.  No matter how much organizing I did while in nesting mode, there was no helping the extravagant amount of baby gear that was going to overtake our home. And now that we have a mobile, curious nine-month old ... keeping our house clean is pretty much a joke.  Some days, it seriously looks like a daycare.  It honestly gets me a nervous wreck, but I am slowly learning to just go with it.  Looking at the little face that is behind all of this obviously helps.

Shirt, Mint Jeans, Hat & Shoes (No Longer Available)
Each year, I take the "spring-cleaning" statement literally.  This year's focus has been a little different than years past.  A few months ago, my husband & I decided it was time to buy our first home.  He had been pushing the issue since I first got pregnant, but my mind wasn't in it.  Now looking back, he was totally right (even though I hate to admit that.)  As soon as Waverly Maye was born, finding a home for her to grow up in immediately became a top priority.

So we have determined our price range, been approved, and found a realtor.  That was the easy part.  Since then, we have been looking for houses.  ALL the time.  We have probably walked into 25 houses already, and something tells me we will probably walk into 25 more.  I am trying to be patient (not my best asset) and remember that the home will happen.  Eventually.  In the meantime, when not house hunting, my spring-cleaning has consisted of organizing our stuff and getting it ready for when that house does come along.  Bins, boxes, baskets, canisters, and buckets have become my best friend.  And someone else's, too.

And on a final note, we may just need to look into a U-Haul for Waverly Maye's ever-expanding accessory collection.  We have picked up a few bows, hats, and headbands over the past nine months.

Hats are organized in her closet with a chain and clothespins. :)
It's safe to say that my husband thinks that I have gone crazy.  And that if we don't have another girl in the future, we are going to have a son rocking some really pretty bows.

Trendy Tot Tuesday: Black & White Chic

It's Tuesday and time to link up with Kelly, Megan, and Lindsey. :)

Black & White is one of the hottest color combinations for this spring.  Take it from me - as a Fashion Marketing teacher, I completely feel that I owe it to my students to spend any of my spare moments poring over fashion blogs & magazines.  Even though these days I don't have as much extra time as I once did ... I still have done my best to stay up to date with the latest fashion trends.  For mommy and baby, of course.

1:  Striped Leggings, 2:  Scalloped Eyelet Dress, 3: Three Quarter Length Coat, 4:  Black & White One-Piece, 5:  Bow Bubble One-Piece, 6:  Striped Dress

Whether on its own or paired together, these two colors are classics and I LOVE a classic (more use, obviously!).  While brights are normally my go-to for spring, black & white provides a welcome change.  And with so many options out there right now, it is super easy for me to match with my little munchkin (yay!), and to add pops of color, too.

Dress by MudPie, Leggings from Carters, Shoes from Baby Gap (No Longer Available.)

Outit from H&M, Shoes from Amazon, and Headband from Etsy.

Then & Now

My husband and I will celebrate our second wedding anniversary this June.  I loved planning our wedding, almost as much as I love the fact that it was at my Great Aunt's house.  Her home is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, and other than the obvious perfect backdrop that it created for our day, having it there was really special.
I could seriously write pages about our wedding (which is why I started my blog during our 18-month engagement), but because I know I won't be able to keep it short, I won't even go there.
However, full details can be found here
Since it is only twenty-minutes from our house, we are able to visit and see where our little family first began. We had our engagement photos there, endless planning dates, and of course, our rehearsal, ceremony, and reception.  I feel lucky to now take our daughter there.  It's crazy how much life has changed in just under two years.

Other big news of the weekend?  Someone learned how to clap her hands.
And she is pretty proud.  I have yet to catch it on video, but I am determined this week.  It really does rank in the list of cutest things I have ever seen in my entire life.  That list, by the way, has completely been taken over by Waverly Maye in the last few months.

Happy Monday. :)

Waverly's Ways

There are definitely aspects of Waverly's earliest days that I miss.  I loved spending hours snuggling & cuddling that newborn body, staring at amazement at the little outfits that would fall off of her, and obviously, being with her 24 hours a day while on maternity leave.  Even though we have plenty of new ones to replace them (HASH TAG - Shopaholic), it is a little painful to pack away onsies or leggings that I know will never fit her again.

But I've learned that when one door closes, another opens, and each & every day with Waverly Maye is infinitely better than the one before it.  Watching her grow before our very eyes has got to be the most rewarding stage of my life to date.  Sometimes I really do wonder if we get to keep her, while continuing to be the biggest part of her ever-changing little world.  Her world right now?  This little lady is FULL of personality.  100% of the time.  The only occasion she doesn't show emotion is when she sleeps.  Something tells me I have my hands full ... and that my life will be anything but boring.

The majority of time, Waverly Maye is happy.  SUPER happy.  Contagious happy.  She will smile at anyone and everyone, and even the straight-faced, "I hate life" people (you know them), can't help but smile back.  She finds joy in the littlest things, like a set of keys, peek-a-book with a towel, or a bottle of shampoo.  At dinner, she throws her hands up & down in joy with each bite of food that she takes.
Wouldn't it be nice to find that much bliss in oatmeal & sweet potatoes?  Although I will admit I could possibly throw my hands up for some fries dipped in ranch.

Don't let this perfect picture of happiness fool you.  My girl can get mad.  Waverly Maye knows what she wants and certainly is going to let you know it.  The thing is, she can go from laughing to livid in seconds, and then right back to normal once she gets what she wants.  Diva.  I wonder where she gets that from?

Waverly Maye is high energy.  She doesn't stop for much (too busy opening & closing drawers, attemping to climb the side of our couch), but every once in a while ... she will show that sweet, tender side.  And when she does slow down and puts her head on your shoulder or gives you a delicious little kiss, it makes it that much more special.

Although it doesn't happen often, there are moments when Waverly Maye is completely serious.  They are definitely short-lived and usually outdoors, as if she is reflecting on her surroundings.  My hubby & I always want to know exactly what she is thinking ... but we are sure that once she can communicate that, we will probably not have these moments of silence ever again.

Waverly Maye is so silly.  The faces she makes sometimes just crack.me.up.  This girl is so animated that I am convinced she has a future in some sort of performing.
Yet I promise I will never be a Dina Lohan or a Toddlers & Tiaras mom.  Too crazy for me.

No matter if she is happy, mad, sweet, serious or silly ... this little girl is my entire world.  Everyday I make a conscious decision to live each second with her in that exact moment, and to continue to embrace each stage & transition of her little life.
Yet I do hope those baby blues don't make any major changes anytime soon.  I'm hoping that's not too much to ask.

Liebster Award: Part Two

I never shy away from an opportunity to accept an award, so even though I have already done a Liebster post, I am excited to share again.  I want to THANK Claudia at Pretty Little Dahlia for thinking of me with this award, which is a way of reconizing up & coming blogs.  It really is an honor and even though I didn't even know what a Liebster Award was less than three months ago, I am so appreciative. And of course, so is the star (and reason) for my blog, Waverly Maye.

Can't you see her excitement?
Entire outfit from Zulily.

The Rules:
1.  Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
2.  Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, and then create 11 new questions for the bloggers your pass the award to next.
3.  Choose new bloggers (with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post.
4.  Go back to their page and tell than about the award.
5.  No tag backs.

My 11 Random Facts: (As Used Last Time)
1.  I have looked forward to being a mom my entire life.  Really, even when I was little.  I felt like it was what I was meant to do.  And now that I officially am, I completely understand why I have always felt this way.
2.   My husband & I met in Math class when I was in 10th grade and he was in 11th.  We met at the beginning of second semester one day when I was wearing my cheerleading uniform.  I had a 100.00% average first semester and a 72.00% the second.  We dated on & off ever since, and got married two years ago.
3.  Both my husband and I are one of four children, two girls & two boys.  I am the oldest and he is the youngest.
4.  Keeping on the "my hubby & I" theme ... We are both are very close to our families and live within two streets of both of our parents.  We lived in the same neighborhood in high school and both our families have since moved ... but to the same new neighborhood.  Which, again, is within two streets of ours.
6.  After high school, I went to Radford University in Southwestern, VA.  Most of my favorite memories from those four years have to do with my sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma.  I was President and lived in the sorority house my senior year.
7.  While at Radford, I majored in Fashion Marketing.  I decided on my major because I love fashion, style, and everything that has to do with it.  But after graduation, I learned that I didn't want to move to a big city away from my family ... and that is where all of the fashion jobs were.
8.  I am a high school Fashion Marketing teacher.  After the realization of Question #7, I decided to get my teaching license and got super lucky to land my job at a high school less than 15 minutes from my house.
9.  Each year, I plan a fashion show at my school. My students are the models, we borrow clothes from local stores, and we always choose a theme.  My husband proposed on stage three years ago.  The theme was "A Fairytale in Fashion."  It couldn't have been more fitting.
10.  After planning my backyard vintage-themed wedding, I absolutely fell in love with planning events of any kind.  I am already planning Waverly's birthday party.  I will try to keep in under control.
11.  My favorite "me" things to do?  Watch reality TV and shop, of course.

The 11 Questions from Claudia and my Answers:
1.  Why did you choose to start blogging?  I initially started a blog while planning my wedding as a way to keep track of the million DIY projects I was attempting to tackle.  By the time we got married, I loved the virtual scrapbook I had created and now am able to look back on.  So when I got pregnant, it was an obvious choice to create a blog for the little bundle of joy we had on the way.  I had no idea of the world of opportunities it would provide - including a network to meet other moms & get great advice.
2.  Which is your favorite blog post so far that is in your blog?  There are many favorites (since I can never get enough of talking about my girl), but my most prized, precious post would have to be Waverly's birth story.  Even in the craziness of the first week with a new baby, I somehow managed to put this post together (most likely in the middle of one of many sleepless nights, while dressed in sweatpants that didn't fit my post-baby body.)  I am so thankful to have this to look back on and to share with Waverly Maye one day.
3.  What is your goal for your blog?  From the start, the main priority of my blog is Waverly Maye.  I love the fact that she will be able to look back on what life was like when she was little.  While I appreciate each & every follower, valuable feedback, and anything else Words About Waverly may bring, that will always be first & foremost to me.
4.  Do you have a favorite blog?  I really, really enjoy reading blogs.  So much so that I do it pretty much everyday.  I have too many favorites to list, but I will admit that I get super excited each time I open my blogger page to find that one of them has posted.  It's the little things in life, right?!
5.  What do you look for in a blog in order for you to start following it?  At this point in my life, most of my favorite blogs are written by moms.  I find that I can relate to mom blogs the most, especially those who have babies around the same age as Waverly Maye.
6.  What is the technology gadget that you cannot live without?  Definitely my IPhone.  I'm not sure I remember life without it.  Which is why when I left it on top of my car a couple of months ago and a homeless man retrieved it from one of the main roads in our area - I was forever grateful.  (As was Waverly, she loves it, too.)
7.  Do you have another hobby other than blogging?  What is it?  Shopping.  My passion for blogging is much cheaper than the one for shopping, so I'm trying to put more time into the blogging one.  I'm sure my wallet, and my husband, would appreciate that.
8.  What is your favorite book or movie of all time?  I'm going to go with the movie one, because I can't remember the last time I had enough time to read a book other than "What To Expect the First Year."  My two favorite movies of all time are "Father of the Bride" & "The Notebook."  (Cliche, I know.)
9.  What are some of your favorite foods that you love to eat?  The foods I love to eat are not exactly the foods that I eat, honestly.  If I ate all the foods that I wanted, all the time, I would probably still weigh somewhere around what I did nine months preggers.  I love all carbs & all sweets.  But my favorite healthy foods are yogurt, granola, and strawberries (sometimes all at once.)
10.  What are you most proud of and why?  Againe, this is totally cliche ... but Waverly Maye.  Although I don't think I can take full credit for how wonderful I think she is, I often find myself looking down at that sweet face in disbelief that she is a product of me (and my hubby.)

I am Giving the Liebster Award To:

The 11 Questions I'm Giving Them to Answer:
1.  What is your favorite time of day?
2.  What is the most hated chore on your household list?
3.  What is your favorite item of clothing?
4.  What did you want to be when you grew up?
5.  What is your most essential appliance?
6.  What is the best advice you have ever given?
7.  Do you prefer TV or movies?
8.  Do you prefer the big city or the country?
9.  What is your best childhood memory?
10.  If you could be one age forever, what age would it be?
11.  How close do you live to your birthplace?

Thanks again, Claudia, and to my readers who take time to read & give feedback to this little blog that started with one single reader.  And of course, thanks to my mom for being that one.  Always. :)

Trendy Tot Tuesday: Waverly's Weekend Wear

It's already Tuesday?  I am linking up with Kelly, Megan, and Lindsey for this week's Trendy Tot Tuesday.  Thanks, ladies. :)

Since the weather has finally decided to warm up, our weekends are on a new level.  I can't say enough about how much this girl loves being outdoors, and her momma is no different.  I'm especially thankful for the opportunity to dress Waverly Maye in a warm weather wardrobe, as opposed to all covered up.  I could stare at those chubby little baby legs all day long.  And I do.

1 - Shopping In Style; Shirt, Shoes, Rufflebottoms:  Like every other Friday, we kicked off the weekend in style at the mall.  I wish I was exagerating, but I'm not.  We really go just about every Friday.  It is the perfect place to soak in those first few minutes of freedom, while checking out at the latest lines at all of our favorite stores.  My mom & I love to shop (total understatement.)  While we like to think that Waverly already shares that passion, I'm pretty sure right now - she just likes to take in her surroundings, touch anything & everything, and be the center of attention of the people who walk by.
2 - Party Princess; Dress, Headband:  I am a total outfit planner, and always reserve my favorite Waverly outfits for Saturday, since I can stare at her all day long in them.  This past Saturday called for a special outfit, since we had a 1st birthday party to attend.  I have quickly learned that (as of now), birthday parties are more for the parents.  We enjoyed some alcoholic beverages while Waverly showed off her cute Gap dress.
3 - Circus Chic; Dress, Shoes - No Longer Available, Rufflebottoms:  We were so excited to go to the circus.  And when I say we, I'm talking about my hubby & me.  Since it's not so socially acceptable to go before kids, even though Waverly won't remember this year's trip, we jumped on the opportunity.  We (again) had a couple of alcoholic beverages to commemorate the occasion, and couldn't get enough of watching Waverly jump up & down while watching the bright lights & action.  Future performer?  I've heard of crazier things that have happened.

                                                                                      Until next time, friends.
                                                                                                 XOXO

Friday Facts

Even if it is a little bit rainy, nothing can get me down on a Friday.  Especially since this week has been a really good one.  Other than the obvious crash of having to leave Waverly for work, the rest of the week has been pretty much perfect.  The weather has finally decided to warm up and we are LOVING it.  I have officially decided that Waverly Maye is an outdoor girl.

Even as a newborn, Waverly could go from absoutely angry to an angel in seconds if we brought her outside.  I seriously can sit this girl on the front lawn and she is happy (and curious) as can be.

After a few too many days of a fussy baby last week, this weather couldn't have come soon enough.  We were convinced that her usual cheerful disposition had been replaced because of teething, yet my girl is still toothless and back to normal.  A little confusing, but I'm not asking any questions.  Whatever the reason, I'm just going with it.  When she's happy, I'm happy. :)

Other news of the week?  This independent woman has decided she would like to feed herself.
Outside, of course.

Before I know it, we are going to be searching for prom dresses and she will be asking for the keys to the car.  I'm pretty sure I will still be documenting each & every moment then, too.  And something tells me she may not be so willing?

Happy Friday, friends.  Enoy the weekend.
XOXO

Seven & Eight Month Favorites

Months 7 & 8 have been a whole new world for us around here.  Waverly Maye has grown into a mobile, interactive little lady and her needs have definitely changed.  This means new products & baby gear (which honestly, is always fine with me because it means a real need for me to venture to Target.)
Here are our current favorites - the products we really couldn't live without and are SO glad we have.  Other suggestions are welcome and always appreciated!
Did we mention we LOVE baby products and pretty much anything baby?!

1 - Happy Baby Organic Puffs; I am not sure I remember life before Puffs.  We probably have five different flavors sitting in our cabinet right now (although our favorite is sweet potato.)  Waverly loves them, which means I love them.  They are great to keep her occupied while I am finishing her food or to sit on the table at a restaurant.  We never leave home without them!
2 - Ergo Baby Carrier; When I was pregnant, I knew that I wanted a good baby carrier so this was one of the items that I researched the most.  (I have a weird obsession with reading reviews - not sure if I'm the only one?).  All of the reviews of the Ergo were the best, so we went with it.  Waverly has been in the carrier since she was born, but most recently has been back in it often.  Although she loves to crawl and explore, she is not a fan of being farther than 5 feet from me at a time.  So the Ergo enables me to clean, do laundry, or put the dishes away while holding her close.
3 - Onesies; Although not the most exciting of fashion finds, the colored onesies at H&M have become such a favorite.  They are comfy, wash well, and come in SO many colors ... and are perfect to pair with all of Waverly's printed skirts, pants, headbands and hats.  Best of all?  They are super cheap - 3 for &12.00.
4 - Tommy Tippee Bib;  These are our go-to bibs, for sure.  I quicky learned that the beautiful, printed bibs we were gifted were simply not going to cut it.  Within seconds of eating, Waverly managed to dirty those bad boys right up.  These are great because they are easy to clean and the section at the bottom catches all of those Puffs!
5; Munchkin Bath Toys; Bath time is one of the highlights of our day.  Our little fish loves everything about the water, and bath toys only add to the fun.  We love the letters because there are a ton of them for not that much money, and just like everything else, she can put them in her mouth.
6;  Lollaland Sippy Cup; My mom recently gave us this sippy cup after seeing it on "The View."  We love it, primarily because the top closes so I can pack it in the diaper bag with no leakage.  A mom recently made tons of money coming up with this idea - um, why didn't anyone think of this sooner?!  So perfect.

As always, I have to include a picture of my sweetie.  Clearly, all of these favorites are working because she is one happy baby.  I would buy ten more baby products to get that heart-melting smile.  (Obviously!

Trendy Tot Tuesday: Menswear Inspired

It's Tuesday and time to talk fashion again.  Obviously, I'm always excited about that and thankful to Megan, Kelly, and Lindsey for this link-up.

I am a total girl momma.  To a fault.  While I certainly hope to have a little man one day, I pretty much exploded with joy when we cut into a pink cake at our gender reveal party.  Wthin 12 hours of that party, I could or could not have been found at the mall with a cart full of pink, bows, headbands, and leopard print.
So obviously, I adore all things girl.  I love "girl" shopping, both for clothes and toys.  I appreciate the fact that most stores have a baby girl section that pretty much doubles the size of the boys.  And while it totally gets me in trouble, I wouldn't have it any other way.

However, with all that being said ... I must admit that lately on our "Fashion Fridays" (Fridays at the mall), we have expanded our search to the boy section.  And boy mommas, there is some cute stuff out there.  So much so, that Waverly has been rocking some boy pieces lately.

BOYS hat from H&M.

BOYS shoes from H&M.

BOYS shoes from Old Navy.

BOYS shoes from Old Navy.
Even though we hardly need MORE options to spend money on, I have been more than happy with the latest additions to Waverly's wardrobe.  And it only helps that menswear inspired pieces are totally on the must-have list for this Spring.  You are SO on trend, Waverly Maye. :)

New Week News

Happy Monday.  For me, this particular Monday has been a bit of an adjustment.
Which may be why I have already left for work with the car seat in my car, my breast pump sitting in the living room, and was unable to find my keys.  That last one though, totally my hubby's fault.
It's back to reality after an entire week of uninterrupted life with my girl.  So the obvious Monday crash is being away from that sweet face.  But as always, I like to stay positive and think of the fact that it is now 9 more weeks until SUMMER vacay!  A TOTAL CREST!  I'm so anxious, exhilerated, thrilled ... I can hardly stand it.

I wanted to thank everyone for your kind comments about the blog and for participating in my first giveaway.  My mini-me is thankful too, and was happy to help me in picking a winner for the Target $10 Gift Card.

At random, Waverly Maye chose Chrissy from Sweet Baby Sphar.  Congratulations, Chrissy!

In other news, Waverly Maye went on her first road trip over the weekend.  We planned the visit to see our friends in Charlotte back in December, when Waverly was 5 months old.  The drive is about 6 hours long, so we figured that by the time she was 8 months, we wouldn't have as much to pack and that she could handle her car seat a little better.  We were right about one thing.  She handled the car like a champ.  She slept almost the entire time - most likely due to our strategic planning of leaving at her bedtime.

What I could have planned better?  The packing situation.  I completely underestimated    the needs of a traveling family of three, and most likely needed the 6 suitcases pictured on Waverly's PJs   in order to be completely prepared.  I was trying to pack smart, rather than bring a U-Haul down the road to greet our hosts.  I definitely forgot Waverly's food (grocery store run), my foundation (um - do you feel my pain?), and hair dryer (thank god for my girlfriend - that could have been ugly.  Literally.)  I did, however, remember Wave's pacifier, high chair cover, and my mom's portable high chair.  And also used some of our resources to keep my girl happy.  All were effective. :)

While definitely different from our previous trips to Charlotte (namely the absence of late-nights downtown), the trip was absolutely perfect and I love everything about our new normal.

Enjoy your week, friends.  Four more days until another weekend.
XOXO

100 Followers GIVEAWAY & BlogLovin'

I have been so completely wrapped up in a holiday hysteria for the past couple of weeks that I failed to mention the fact that I hit 100 FOLLOWERS!  Even though I hadn't shared this major milestone publicly on this blog, I totally  recognized it the minute it happened.  And if I'm honest, once I hit 99, I actually checked the blog pretty much all the time to wait for my big moment.

I'm kind of kidding, I promise ... but I was a pretty happy girl.  And still am, because blogging really is a rewarding experience for me.  I obviously appreciate it because it keeps a record of our daily life for Waverly Maye to look back on one day.  But also because it has given me the unique opportunity to interact with other moms.  I am grateful to you all for many kind words, useful advice, and most importantly, understanding my complete obsession with my daughter.
I'm pretty sure that my husband is thankful, too.  He can only take so many conversations about baby products, clothes, and life with a baby.

Even though I can't do much (It's pretty obvious that I need to save all of my money for Waverly's wardrobe) - I wanted to celebrate with a giveaway.  I know all you mommas share my infatuation with Target, so all you have to do is leave a comment for a Target gift card & I will randomly select a winner by Saturday.  It's only for $10 - but that could totally buy you quite a few items in those fun front bins or your little one a cute new outfit.  And then when you spend $100 more of your own money for a million different products you didn't even come for, use your Target debit card for 5% off.  I love that cute little red card.

Good luck & THANKS for following.  While you are at it, will you come on over and follow me at Bloglovin', too?  Just click the button on the right sidebar.
XOXO

Lovely Leggings

It's Trendy Tot Tuesday - linking up with Megan, Lindsey, and Kelly. :)

I have always loved leggings.  They are cute, comfy, and BEST OF ALL - can make the shortest of dresses appropriate.  And during my pregnancy, they were my saving grace when the rest of the items in my closet wouldn't fit over my knees.  Since those preggers days and the birth of my baby girl, lovely leggings have been making even more of a presence at my house.  This time, in much smaller versions and with bright colors & designs.  Love.

1: Printed Knit Leggings, 2:  Arrow Print Leggings, 3:  Denim Leggings, 4:  Printed Knit Leggings, 5:  Velour Leggings, 6:  Printed Knit Leggings

It's safe to say that Waverly Maye will be rocking some leggings for years to come.  I've already been stocking up for the fall (see above) and if those short little legs don't grow soon (which totally may be the case - 5% height) ... she may even fit in this year's pairs, too.  Here are some of Waverly's lovely leggings moments:

I had to use a throwback.  Waverly's first denim leggings - a memorable moment for sure.  Entire outfit is from Carters.

 JMU Onsie & Babies'R'Us Leggings

Onsie & hat from Zulily; Leggings from Old Navy

Onsie & Leggings from Old Navy

Onsie from H&M; Leggings from Babies'R'Us; Scarf from H&M, Headband from Target; Shoes are Vans

So now that we have determined that I like both leggings for myself and my girl, and I clearly like to dress us alike (See Post Here) ... I will ease all fears that I will wear a onsie over top of my leggings.  I mean, it will be hard.  But I will resist the tempatation.

Easter Excitement

Happy April!  We hope everyone had a memorable, sweet weekend full of Easter excitement, just as we did.  As planned, the Easter bunny hopped onto our street, leaving lots of goodies.

What wasn't planned?  It seems that the damn bunny is also bringing Waverly's first tooth.
Although not yet confirmed, on Easter Eve she started drooling, got a runny nose, stopped sleeping or eating, and was way more fussy than normal.  I'm convinced it is going to break through at any moment.  We were actually ondering if it would be the two front teeth, in honor of the occasion?  Whatever the case, Waverly Maye put on her bunny ears and celebrated the best she could.  I think she knew I had been planning the day for way too long for a tooth to get in the way.  Sweet girl.

These aren't quite the images I thought her basket would bring, but given the circumstances, the girl did good.

I love a tradition, so I was super excited to take Jessica at Little Baby Garvin's idea and plant some jellybeans that magically turned into lollipops.

Feeling 100% or not, the girl loves being outside.  So even though she clearly didn't understand or even realize that lollipops sticking out of grass were out of the ordinary ... it was a welcomed moment.  We will continue the tradition next year.  Another tradition we LOVE?  Making shapes with our food, for whatever holiday it is.  Food & Festiveness?  Nothing better.  Well, except when you a have a tooth fighting its way through your gums and you don't want anything else in your mouth.

She pretty much just stared at it, which is so totally unlike her.  But at least its shape was cute.  After breakfast, she managed a couple of smiles, which always melt my heart.  Again, I know it was just for me as she knew I would have been crushed if I didn't have anything for her album of chalkboard photos.

Entire Outfit is Cache Cache from Dillards.

We made our rounds to visit family for Easter brunch.  And while definitely not acting herself, our little socialite loved the Easter excitement.

My Dress is Forever 21 & Jacket from Old Navy.

We hope everyone had a HAPPY EASTER ... and we also hope that the tooth rocking my daughter's world will give her some relief soon!  Any suggestions?
XOXO
